I can think of several reasons not to go to school in NYC. One, the danger. Two, and possibly more of a consideration for poor college students, the RIDICULOUSLY high cost of living, entertainment, and food. You need to shell out so goddamn much just to go to a movie and get a coffee! NYC's a great place, but in my opinion it's just not worth it unless you have an incredibly high-paying job or you're a trust fund baby. (Shit, I keep forgetting those actually exist and high living costs actually aren't an issue for some people.)

I hate that people believe you need to live in an "exciting" area to have a good time at college. I'm going to school out in Bumblefuck, it's one of the top-rated schools in the country, and I love it.

Not the OP, but I've been a fan of various things for 20 years or so and fandom sure never used to be primarily about shipping. It probably is now a lot more than it was once, but 90%? God help us, no.

121. I loved Nabari no Ou so hard! If only I didn’t find the two main characters the least interesting of the batch. Especially when they’re interacting with each other.

It’s really sad, because I think pretty much everyone else is highly entertaining (Raimei is my hero), and even Yoite’s SORROW is palatable when he’s interacting with Yukimi or someone who looks like they'd give him a nice slap with his stupid hat.

Miharu is awesome when he’s just being a devious little fucker.

126. I have the same concern with 13 from House. I think Maya isn’t particularly bad, considering the overall quality of the second season. I don’t feel any dislike for her, and while she made some big mistakes, characters who should have been written as less naïve or more intelligent made far greater ones.

Also, she’s pretty hot.

143. I was thinking of getting into this show over the summer, so I watched a rerun. About the point where the dude from Breaker High started suggested to the girl about dressing up or getting a haircut to visit some wedding, while he could remain shlubby because he's a guy, I was ready to punch him through the screen.

But I figured it was the character, not the show.

The fact that she actually went through with his suggestions bugged me, but I thought maybe I was missing context?

156. Yeah, it’s… really weird. Not that it exists, but the way people can get so completely invested in which characters are fucking; not only in fan fiction, but in the show itself. I wrote a paper on shipping in the Buffy fandom, and the amount of investment from fans (including financial) is breathtaking.

111. It's not often that a secret manages to be wrong in as many ways as this one is.

128. I ship it! Though a male Shepard is fine too. If you ignore the sex issue, I think it could work. Garrus totally hero worships Shepard and follows him around like a puppy. If you go renegade in your conversations with him, which Garrus is already leaning towards with his Chaotic Good mentality, he'll be like "OH SHEPARD I KNEW YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND ME, UNLIKE EVERYONE ELSE. SPECTRES ARE TTLY AWESOME." But if you go paragon, eventually he'll be like "I SEE, SHEPARD, YOU ARE SO RIGHT. OH SHEPARD, YOU SO WISE." At least, that's how I remember it. It's been a long time since I played my paragon game, though.
