I'm really confused about this too. I actually think the show does a great job with the female characters but would be interested in hearing what others have to say. It was annoying, to say the least, that Tony was killed off but at least it wasn't gratuitous and his story was resolved (I won't say how in case you haven't seen the ending). I can't see the racism but again, I'd be curious to see what someone else has to say. Ben does always get the short end of the stick but he also is a fully realised character and not just 2D comic relief.

Actually, a really good friend of mine started watching Who on her college's TV station back in the Before Times, and 2 was her first. So she's always preferred him, even though she's seen just about everything you can still find. You're in good company.

(I, however, am a lonely 8 fan.)

Well, I wasn't even alive when the Classic Who aired, so Tenth was my first and I know people believe that the first Doctor you see is your Doctor. I've been watching all the episodes from the beginning. I know a lot of people like the Fourth too, but as soon as I started watching Pertwee, I greatly missed Troughton and Hines.
