More agreement here.
Then again I think 90% of fandom obsessions like RP and fanfic are similarly dumb :{ Due to me being a canon snob and purist.

Gok Wan! Fuck yeah! ♥

111. People in general aren't that smart, yourself (and myself) included. If ship wars, RP romances, and wank over dumb parts of series canon are what you call 'intelligent,' then I have to wonder where you're hanging out in real life.

(Anonymous) 2008-08-15 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Not all of fandom is about ship wars, RP and wank.

102 What I don't get is how it could be "just yours" when it's so huge, and I don't mean fandom, but generally in the culture. Covers of magazines, news stories about lines in the stores, movies, her appearances, and all that.

106 She was my favorite on that show, totally.

115 She's great! Also, SYTYCD ftw!

116 Val was so hot in that movie, in that turtleneck. MY GOD.

139 Why on earth does this have to be a secret?

140 I feel you; that's why I'm not wandering into Iron Man however intriguing it is.

141 ♥ Movie musical shipping ftw! Request it at yuletide!

147 That's what yuletide is for, and why it is so awesome!

160 I feel, and this might just be my own experience, that the people who feel that way really aren't in the fandom anymore, or if they are, don't talk much about their problems with canon and don't enter into canon conversations so you aren't that aware of their feelings on the matter. After DH came out things got really wanky and a lot of people either split or went underground because the OBHWF types were shouting so loudly.

161 One Week is on a loop at MoMA here in New York, outside an exhibit on prefab housing. God, I adore him LONG TIME. However, the only silent film icon I have is Clara, so I shall use her.

101. That’s really sweet, actually.

110. I don’t think being excessively sweaty = having evil powers.

143. I didn't find Reaper funny at all.

163. Eugh. He does that? *shudders*

170. LOL. Me and a friend decided once that he probably says dumb shit during sex, and grunts in a drawn-out way that he thinks is a bit sexy.

TROLL: God. This shit is getting SO OLD. DIAF already.

175. I like the suit/converse combo. And even if I didn’t, something that trivial could never make me hate a character. Probably.

*eyeroll*

Well, outside of the Mylar comms. *hugs my sanctuary*

SRSLY, sick of people saying "I like Maya but I'm not allowed to say so." Seems to me like you're sticking your neck out if you admit that you don't.

Depends on the comm, I think. There are definitely some larger comms and BBS's where I wouldn't want to talk about liking her.

118. Betazoid x Vulcan? I am intrigued. Not keen on shipping Tuvok, but bumping off Paris works for me, and the relationship really does sound like it could be interesting.

138. I squeed when the Capenters were mentioned in that movie, but... then it was actually about teh Sonic Youth. Whom I had never heard of. D: But from what you could hear, that cover was pretty darn good. (lawl, I don't even remember what happened in the scene. I was trying to hear more of the song. :<)

118 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-08-15 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I imagine a telepathic Betazoid would find a Vulcan utterly fascinating. With the way Vulcans suppress their intense emotions, it would be like looking at a calm body of water while at the same time seeing tumultuous undercurrents beneath the surface.

How a Vulcan would react to a Betazoid...well, that's where the "interesting" part comes in.

My IQ is 187, yet I still thrive in the world of fandom.

I'm not quite sure what's wrong with me. If I have the knowledge, why not contribute something to the world?

However, I completely agree with you. There are always the illiterate exceptions, though I truly do believe that one must be able to comprehend quite a good amount of things in order to truly thrive in the mainstream fandom.

By the way, where did you get yours measured? I'm not allowed to say where I got mine done, because of all that "national security" crap. 105. DOROTHY/SCARECROW OTP, BITCH. X3

108. I kind of do this. All the clothes I've bought in the last few months can be traced back to one of my favorite fandoms - Kino and the Traveling Wilburys are responsible for most of my vintage-ish earth tone clothing, the Sorrow supplied me with that soft greyish-blue t-shirt I bought a few weeks ago (black and grey camouflage, however, continues to elude me), and anything just plain odd (such as my purple Chucks or my long brick red sweater-hoodie-duster thing) is probably the Doctor. Also, since I've started playing MGS, I've been wearing more hoodies. Heh. This half camo, pink peace signs sleeveless hoodie from Spencers? Totally the fault of the MGS3 start screen.

120. Hell yeah Texans! I grew up there and still miss it.

132. Isn't this a N!S repeat?

135. That doesn't have to be a secret! EVERYONE has a favorite Doctor (or two)! THREE AND SIX FOR LIFE.

148. Call back, record it (if he's home, uh... ask him to hang up so you can record his answering machine XD), and stick it on some filehosting site then! Share the love! (Who the hell is he? oO)

164. You know, there are people in this world who were actually born on September 11. Right now, in fact, there are a bunch of six-year-olds who were born on that September 11. It's more artificial to avoid the date than otherwise, IMHO.

173. Meet 135. EVERYONE HAS A FAVORITE FINAL FANTASY.

175. Hey, the Doctor's not the Doctor without one little wardrobe quirk. Scarf celery catpin, baby. ♥ ...wait, maybe that's why Nine's my least favorite. Too blend-in-y. XD

140. I understand your concerns, but even if you get a minor detail wrong, it's not like you'll be driven out of the fandom.

I mean, I've written stuff for Fate/stay night. I haven't played the sequel, I've read the first volume of Fate/zero and no more, I know only a little bit about Tsukihime, and I know nothing about Nasu's other works. I've written things in UBW and HF-route before playing them, found out that they were wrong, gotten embarrassed about it, and kept writing. Not a big deal.
