What's on the tin! What have you done lately that you're proud of yourself for, no matter how small!

I finally buckled down and did some cleaning and purging this weekend. I've been putting it off forever, but I'm going on vacation on Saturday and I do NOT need my cat sitter thinking that I am a total runner up for Hoarders: Canada. XD

I purged out five boxes of general house things, and I have a bag of DVDs and four boxes of books that I am waiting to hear back from my local library to see if they take donations since the only used bookstore in my area that 'buys' used books (the next closest one is all the way downtown and fuck that noise) only gives store credit, so I'd rather give to a library if all I'm going to get back is $20 in store credit.

What have you done?!

Today in the Continuing Adventures of Flooded Basement, now going on week... five..? Six? I did the job I was dreading most: cleaning out from under my bed.

I have no idea why I had ancient cans of peach juice under my bed. I don't remember buying peach juice. I just know that it's a good thing the carpet's getting replaced, because them things popped open at some point.

There was also one corner where all the empty plastic water bottles fell off my nightstand to die. There were, like, six?

God I'm sloppy. My cubicle at work is chic and impeccable and impeccably organized, and here I was sleeping on top of busted open cans of expired peach juice and empty plastic bottles. XD BUT NOT ANYMORE! Today the only thing under my bed is dust bunnies! ...and an expired peach juice stain, but, well. Yeah.

I've been slowly trying to build up the level of affection I show people. It's not always easy but I can send friends texts with cute emojis and I initiate more hugs now.

I got a nice bonus and certificate of achievement at work for making quota and raising my sell through. That was a couple of weeks ago. Today, I took a shower, put on a bit of makeup and got dressed.

LOL, kidding. I'm not a huge fan so I don't know much about the expanded universe but... maybe more stuff involving characters who didn't appear in the original trilogy who weren't involved in the main plot? I enjoyed the Han Solo movie and liked that it could function as a standalone adventure. But I guess I was in the minority...

Inspired by my remembering the time my newly adopted second dog (who’d been returned to the pound three times by different owners before she was a year old for being a nut) got out of the house the morning after we brought her home, and took off down the street. I gave chase barefoot in my pjs and followed her, screaming her name, almost to the beach 1/2 mile away. Eventually I gave up and staggered home, crying. An elderly lady offered me a ride and I actually got in her car for a block before asking to be let out because I thought she might drop me at the police station.

I was maybe 16 and looked super young for my age, with unbrushed hair and bloody feet. I was on my period and crampy and had just lost my new dog.

And I’d run 10 blocks screaming the name she’d left the pound with, which was Choo-choo.

(The dog, who was promptly rechristened, beat me back to the house and lived 16 years being her crazy self.)
