It might not be because they think you need sheltering. It might be because they are afraid someone will find the chat logs and think that they are trying to seduce you and call the law on them.

We used to have some underage players in my RPG. We didn't know that they were underage when they started doing explicit RPs, and after we found out, it didn't seem like it made much sense to bar the stable door when the horse was already out; but everyone was very relieved when they finally turned 18! And while we still allow people 14-18 to play LW, we prefer that they do explicit logs with each other or with people in localities where it's not illegal (for example, people who live in the UK are legal for sexual stuff at 16, so if you're 16 and you're in the UK, fine, or if you're 16 I guess you can play with someone in the UK).

I read and wrote pr0n when I was 15 (nearly 30 years ago *weeps*) and I've read some actually pretty good pr0n written by younger people. For every person who is genuinely freaked out about your age, there are probably 10 more who are more freaked out by the idea that even though you probably are more than mature enough to handle RP as a fictional character, your parents or teachers might view it as cyber-sex or an attempt by an adult to seduce you.

I've always thought the idea that the maturity fairy hits people on the head on their 18th b-day is totally stupid. Our old player was a much better writer of intelligent erotica than some of the people in their 30s we had back then. But the laws are another issue. If you want to engage in explicit RP you're pretty much going to have to get your parents into communication with the mods where you're playing so that they can be absolutely sure that any RP you do will not get everyone sent up the river.

True, true. I can see your point on basically everything you said, and agree with you wholeheartedly. I don't think it'd be a situation anyone would want to get into. A liiittle nervewracking ^.^;

However, I know for a fact that my friend who's been roleplaying with me has roleplayed explicitly with a fifteen-year-old -- or, no, she might've been fourteen at the time. She was my friend, as well, and she'd happened to mention it, which obviously made me begin to wonder.

Of course, I've known this friend since I was around nine years old. I can understand her being a little unnerved that I'd want to push our roleplay a bit more in that direction -- it actually has been a bit of a problem, considering she still sees me like her little nine-year-old charge.

Thanks so much for the input. ^.^ I'll be sure to keep that in mind in the future!

I feel for you, I really do... I've had so many batshit Petrellicesters and Sylaire shippers trying to push their shit on me when I've expressed several times, quite vocally, that I hate everyone who has a drop of Petrelli blood and that I consider 95% of Sylaire fic Mary Sue fic. People... just don't get it.

And I agree that most Mylar shippers are batshit insane. There was one following me around urging me to get therapy because of the fic I wrote... because obviously my brain works 100% like Sylar's in my fic. Moron.

You're right. After posting that secret I realized that what I truly love are the characters rather than their "sexuality". I was off-put by the fact that most of my yaoi doujins were inspired by mere carnal desire and their nature was erotic rather than romantic, but after browsing my collection I noticed a few couples I was still able to love. I have a request that I want filled so badly it hurts, but I have yet to post it because I'm afraid it'll get shunted ;_;

The ratio of unfilled to filled is, like, 45736576483 to 1. And a lot of the stuff is amazing and needs to be written. Like... just as a totally random example to throw out there, there are at least a dozen requests involving the Riddler, though likely more. There's a pretty good range with him, pairing-wise [Batsy, Joker, Two-Face, Harley, Ivy, Spoiler], so it's not like a bunch of rehashes. And y'know how many have been filled? None. D'8 C'mon gais, where's the Riddler porn?

...and, of course, so it goes with most of the stuff there. I just wanted to give an example. xD

Fandom's economics need work. Demand is very high in the kink meme, and supply is lacking. Boo.

183. Try to find another rp partner who would be willing to explore that relationship--and that particular angle--with you...? I mean, I realize this has to suck for you, but I also understand the various reasons that the person who plays Character A wouldn't be comfortable doing this. But I think that's like with all relationships--everybody kind of has different boundaries. With some friends, you may feel comfortable talking about things like sex or other intimate bodily issues, and not so much with others.

I can understand why you would regret being honest about your age--but really, if you're friends and not just rp partners that would be something you wouldn't want to lie about. Most instances I've heard about where one person lies to a friend about their age, sex, or other important, basic information end very badly.
