Ohhhh, you should look up the Cameron/Daniel (http://community.livejournal.com/stargateficrec/tag/cameron/daniel) tag at stargateficrec... I have a friend who loves that pairing and who could offer some recs (though I'm sure you've read some of them, heh), but iirc there were more fans of that than just a few good writers! Darned memory.

That show just pisses me off, especially because it's in a theater across the street from In the Heights which is brilliant and not doing as well.

153. Legend! I loved the hell out of that show, and pretty much everything else UPN was broadcasting then. (Deadly Games, Nowhere Man, Marker...good times.) I heard through very reputable sources connected with the show years ago that Sci-Fi was considering bringing it back. That same year, Sci-Fi picked up SG-1 from Showtime, and I guess that was the end of that.

166. I'm watching it again for the first time since the Crusade, and I'm just through Season Three. I'm kind of scared that I'm going to get all emotional when it ends again, because it was just that good.

103. I've posted this before, but I'll repeat it: to me, "non-con" means, essentially, a rape fantasy. i.e. It's more about power and control than actual violation. I personally distinguish that from rape, and were I ever to request "non-con" fic/art from someone (I'd be unlikely to, but for the sake of argument), that's probably what I'd mean.

But then, not everyone draws the same line between, "non-con" and "rape." And it would probably be hard to tell the difference in a drawing. Hmm. But ultimately, I don't think you really know why someone asked for it, or what they're imagining when they see it.

Which is not to say that you don't have every right to refuse the request. Just saying you could be making assumptions about their fantasies which aren't correct.

107. I basically agree. I might find actors who play characters hot; but I have not, to my recollection, ever found a character hot. My favourite characters are the ones I relate to, and so it would be strange to find them attractive. Plus I agree that what's hot about them is the chemistry they have with other characters - not me!

I'm not quite sure it's correct to call it 'theory', but the theory/writing I've seen about rape all agrees that it is about power and control, with desire taking a back seat. I believe this notion is fairly widespread and accepted.

I personally see no difference between non-con and rape, and I believe the non-con label was probably just chosen so they could have a label that didn't have quite the off-putting 'punch' of saying, "I'm into rape!"

What categorizes yaoi/yuri as 'unpure' when het isn't for you (I'm assuming)? Or was I wrong in reading yaoi/yuri as 'homosexuality', and should have taken it as 'homosexual porn' instead?

This is not a secret; this is a wankbait PSA. Basically the same thing (although more coherent and less inflammatory) was recently posted on fanficrants, where it garnered lots of replies and a link on metafandom.

Maybe if it were a new PSA, I wouldn't be bothered, but this is old news, and everyone on fandomsecrets has had the message impressed on them already. If they haven't picked it up yet, another poorly-worded secret isn't going to do it.

Alternately, you're a troll trying to stir up whining about those stupid feminists (on both sides).

Or maybe I'm just annoyed because you used an anime screencap of Orihime. Anime Orihime is fugly, especially compared to manga Orihime, who is gorgeous.
