Inspired by me realizing from secret #2 that Haikyuu and Free are different things.

What are some things you were shocked and/or embarrassed to learn?

That misled is pronounced miss-lead. I always pronounced it missile-d in my head. I knew what it meant, I had just never said it out loud. And while I probably have heard it, I just didn't make the connection between the two words.

That Anastasia wasn't a Disney princess not because she wasn't popular enough to be in the official lineup, but because the movie hadn't been made by Disney at all.

That Simon Pegg voiced the Chamberlain in the new Dark Crystal series. His impersonation is fucking uncanny tbh, but I'm also glad they got someone who could get close to it since it's such a notable voice in the original.

there is no person named Leslie in the song "Groovin". they just pronounced "endlessly" very badly so it didn't fit with the music.

A watched a movie recently that informed me that, like the holes in cheese, the doughnut hole is for your thumb. It's the only way to dunk a doughnut. Very educational.

Hannibal wasn't much of an influence in the Roman Carthaginian war, despite being a brilliant tactician.
He's known to be one of the best generals history has to offer, but due to the Roman's response to his strength, Hannibal was cut off and generally unable to aid the overall war effort.

Went for brunch with my husband, had a lovely shrimp Louis salad and champagne. Got gas in my car and a boba tea. Watching the Bengals attempt to not stink up the joint too much against the Seahawks. Gotta work tomorrow. Probably do some laundry in a little while.

unwinding from having more than 1 guest over.
i had a big birthday party this saturday for my 30th birthday and it was really fun! i love all my guests but damn, this many people exhaust me. I am glad all of them are understanding tho.

Went on a walk and my calf cramped up so had to limp home. It is still cramped up and I can't walk on it. BUT I finished my first amigurumi. The color transitions are dog shit but I got it done.

Potting up small transplants of a bunch of mostly fragrant shrubs I mail ordered, loafing around interspersed with some light cleaning, recovering from work stuff yesterday.

Work itself was fine; first day at a new location and I showed up early and settled in to wait for other staff, because since it was my first day at the new place I didn’t have a key or the alarm code. Waited five minutes past our start time, texted a friend who used to work there to ask if they usually showed up late.

Called another location and asked them to double check the schedule—yeah, I was supposed to be there, supervisor was off, but someone with a key was supposed to be there, too. Asked for the big bosses’ numbers because by then I was supposed to open in fifteen minutes and no one was sure which one was in charge on the weekend. I called all of them, got no answer, started panicking. Emailed all of them and cc’ed my new (on vacation) boss.

Started calling all the locations whose numbers I knew, asked someone to put out a notice that my location would be closed and not to refer people there until further notice. Stationed myself by the front door and alternated more phone calls and emails with explaining that due to a mix up, unfortunately we were closed, and referring people to the nearest other locations.

At that point, I started getting a bunch of returned calls just as the manager of another location showed up, so someone had gotten through to the higher-ups. The manager wasn’t sure his keys would work, but he’d gotten the alarm code.

Then two more employees showed up, both of whom had keys, and let us in, and we opened and got to work. Later that day, one of the big bosses showed up and explained that everyone had been at the opening of a brand new location that morning, which is why no one saw my email or got my messages.

Then I went on break and realized I’d started my period and had no tampons or pads with me.

So yeah, just trying to relax today.

Absolutely nothing. Making up for mowing the lawn, de-junking and sweeping the front and back porch, sweeping the back patio, cleaning all the outside window ledges and trimming the maple trees yesterday.
