Well, I don't totally agree.

First of all, I think the season before the most recent season was better than the most recent season. And I think that the most important determining characteristic of the quality of a season is the quality of the bakers, followed by production choices (editing and challenge choices and stuff like that), with the hosts and judging in a distant third.

Third - I actually agree that Paul giving out the handshakes so often really annoyed me. But I think what you're missing is the different dynamic between the judges overall. Prue was harsher as a critic than Mary was, but Paul was much less harsh overall than he was when Mary was the other judge. I think it was a general attempt to change the judging dynamic and I think describing that as Prue being "a bitch" is unfair.

I know a lot of people just don't care about anything except saying that they miss Sue, Mel and Mary and won't watch the show anymore, and that's fine, but I just don't totally agree with this secret.
