102: you're right, he definitely is.
127: L! I LOVE HIM to death!
132: that's really cute :)
138: same here, as well as tons of other people in the music business who are talentless whores.

LOL. Apparently so do I according to the general interpretation of the secret. When it comes to the characters, yes, I do. I love L, but still laugh at his death (I'm so sorry to the one I posted this secret about! As I've said many times. Though, she won't see this until I feel it's okay to show her. She never looks here). I'm just such a Light fangirl...it's sad, really. -_- Why can't I be normal and just cry about L's death? Oh come on...

I hate to say it, but 101, you are an idiot yourself for holding to such beliefs. I enjoy both literary pieces for their own worth. Currently, my graduate paper is on Manga, you'd be rather surprised to realize Manga is a genre which requires a different type of learning curve to fully understand due to the tenacity of manga-ka influencing the cell's material. The context of a manga cell holds similarly just as much information as a page in any "real" book you could pick up. The first time manga hit the market with a visual rendition of Treasure Island, it outsold recorded sales. So don't try the "You're an idiot because you read manga". Wake up, step into the present. Manga is now used for educational purposes at secondary and university levels. Congratulations for being a hermit.

But, then again, you're welcome to your own opinion. I, on the other hand, will continue researching my topic on manga for my graduate paper.

don't worry about it. No one, unless it is the 1970s and they have stephen tyler's baby, is famous for being a FAN OF SOMETHING. a couple of hundred people on the internet knowing your LJ username is not fame. the cross eyed guy who runs the feed store in my town is more famous than that.

I have a friend like that (and the guy even has "Cullen" on the back of his senior jersey)! The boyfriend is creepily possessive, doesn't like not knowing exactly where the girlfriend is and what she's doing. He tells her what she can and can't do and I just. . . I worry about them. She's naive and in a way, I think she does need a bit of looking after, and to an extent, it's sweet. But they're branching off into creepy. Extremely creepy.

The worst part is that one of my other friends is in love with the boyfriend and secretly wants the couple to break up. But if gf ever dumped bf, I'm afraid he'd kill her. And if bf dumped gf and then went out with my other friend. . . I shudder even to think about it.

129- I'd agree with you if Doomsday wasn't so spiky. I'd be afraid even his junk would be sharp, and down there that shit don't fly.

I realize that I'm in a bad mood now! ._. Oops. (posts them anyways.)

101. Or, you know, maybe you're being an ass and some people just prefer to be visually stimulated with their literary stimulation? Or prefer short, tight story lines for [insert reason here]? Ooh, ooh! Maybe they like the differences in style!

Your head. Pull it out of there right now. That's just unsanitary.

102. :x Well, that picture kind of looks geeky. But Sammy! <3

103. .___. You realize that they're both off their nut, right? I wouldn't wish Eiri on anyone. Or Tohma, really.

107. Aw, that's kind of sweet. But... erm, which East Coast? There's kind of a ton of them you know.

109. :o Awesome artwork and I want her dress. (HA, on the fitting something like that without pain though.)

On the secret.. meh. I hope you at least give him/her the leeway to keep his/her secrets.

110. :x (hugs) I completely understand. I'm starting to feel the same way. :( But hope lives on, right?

111. (CHEER) Tell 'im, sweetie! (hug) I hope one day you get to tell the jerk off in real life too.

112. :( Bigots suck. In general.

115. Twilight Secret! I knew you'd be here.

116. Oh, look, another one. :x

118. Huh? There's a superstition...?

125. (FACEPALM) And I guess you've read "everything else" then, huh?

1) Vampires are a character type, plot convention and (dare I say it?) cliché. Not a type of story. I recommend looking at the difference between
2) Twilight is not a "vampire story". It's a teen romance with vampires in it. BIG DIFFERENCE.
3) WTF with comparing Twilight to Dracula? Dracula was about the Victorian obsession with sex and the suppression thereof. It was about fear of ourselves, and how even the most seemingly noble of us have a monster within. (Monster as defined by the era, which is not what we think of a monster as, btw.) Twilight is, again, a teen romance. You're comparing apples and pecans here.

Have you even read a real novel that uses vampires, or do you just see the "omg vampires!" books that are all around and decide that they're all the same? Vampires are popular. That means that there's a lot of stories that use them. It's been over a century (Dracula was published in 1897). Are you trying to say that in the mountain of books written since then, there's not one decent one where a character happens to be a vampire? Let it the fuck go.

Gods, people like you make me wish I gave a damn enough to either like or hate the damned book.

Bite me.

128. o.O Okay... and why do you tell people that? (does not get the "I lie about this, so I can't tell anyone my real feelings!" secrets. They could all be prevented by telling the truth.)

131. XD

132. I like this secret! <3

133. Agreed. x.X I generally wait until I hear reviews from people I know before calling judgment, but I only wait because I'm tired of going "omg I loved the first one!" and then having my heart broken by the Disney franchise again. ;-;

136. Did I write this?

138. See last bazillion similar secrets for general gist of "you're an asshole" reply. *sigh*

139. Once again, what's wrong with being gay that you use it like an insult? And two, people make comedy out of horrible events all the time. For example, the Scary Movie series makes fun of series murderers! Well, via parody of movies that profit off the idea of the same.

Get over it.

141. Already in the 40s and this is only number three? I'll be damned. *whistle*

._. I'm so sorry for your friend. That would be horrible. (hugs) I hope she ditches the creep pronto.

147. No. The Law of the Internets says that you can't possibly have an interest in anything without being insulted for it. Sorry.

149. :x Funny, that sounds like a lot of things I love about anime. ¬¬; Oops?

155. ... I never thought of it that way. XD They are probably illegal, aren't that? Anyways, IAWTS.

157. (hugs) To be totally honest, me too, but really it's supposed to be about having fun. That's what I write for, and I'm pretty sure that no matter how attractive being a BNF is, it's really probably not worth the drama that goes with it.

159. ... wow, you must hate like... 99.98% of any given fandom them, don't you?

160. (WINCE) OMG OW THE BURNING NO. JUST NO.

[identity profile] tsuzuki13.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
In response to your inquiry of 118, yes, there is a superstition behind the play Macbeth. Even if you don't believe in curses and the like, it's still uncanny how many deaths have happened that involved the a production. Even the first run, in Shakespeare's time, was 'cursed'.

It's quite interesting. :3 If you're into superstition of any sort, or Shakespeare, I suggest you look it up sometime, as there's a lot behind it.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-01 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
101. What a totally ignorant thing to say. I work in the book industry and it is saturated with shit these days, most of the good stories come from comics or graphic novels. What exactly do you consider a "real book"? That is a snobbish thing to say and it's bullshit!

102. Why is this even a secret? He is fucking gorgeous and I like him better than the other guy on the show.

141. Totally! I have always thought Edward was a complete asshole! Funny how girls go gaga over the shithead in the story. I could mention another couple of fandoms that has this problem too LOL

(Anonymous) 2008-12-01 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
101. And I can't help but think that everyone who posts comments like this are elitest stuck up bitches. It's HARD to find a good book to read anymore. If you've read the classics, really, what do you have left? I'd rather read something I'd know I'd enjoy rather than something that'd take me forever to get into, if I get into it at all, thanks. :)

117. This season is making me hate Keller more than anything else. More Teyla, please.

138. Does 80's Madonna count?

142. I must hear this song. I loved NFG's version of the song so much, but hearing it with Patrick might amuse me more since I too love both bands.

101. maybe if you read dumb ass comic books, but as someone who's trying to get into writing comics, I resent the first secret. granted most of my inspiration comes from traditional literature, i still think it's stupid to assume that all comics are asinine works that should be overlooked. yes, i am acting butthurt, but it just seems like a really dumb ass thing to say.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN.
I'm doing a production of the play in a few months, and I'm head of design and tech. (Small school - one person tends to take over all the tech.) I'm scared to death of putting on the play.

[identity profile] tickled-pink.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
139. I can understand difference in opinion. Two people don't have to like the same series. However, the tone of this really irks me. =\ Disgusting pathetic trash? Believe it or not I've actually learned stuff from Hetalia. I've never liked history and after I finished with a course I never tried to hold onto ANY of the knowledge I learned. Because of Hetalia I actually want to learn about history so I can use it for fanart or just so I can understand the relationships between the characters.

159. So you hate it when fans ship House or Cox with people they're not canonly with but you'd be willing to ship them with eachother though they have never even met? Seriously?

101. :| Yeah, because people can't like both mediums. I read many books before I got into manga. And at the beginning, I was reading the DAMN NOVELS of 'Sailor Moon' before the original. I'm finding much more appealing manga nowadays than novels (which now seems to revolve around junk such as Twilight and Eragon). If I want a good novel, I'll reread other books such as 'Water For Elephants' and 'Neverwhere' but I'm comfortable with reading manga such as 'Mirai Nikki' and 'Honey and Clover' for the time being.

Also, learn how to spell 'prefer'.

140. D: WHERE IS THAT PICTURE FROM? It looks gorgeous!

I hate most photoshop book cover art, be it gay porn or scifi/fantasy...whatever. I just end up LOLing over most of it, while also pining for the days when hand-drawn art still ruled the bookcover world instead of "pastede on yay"-style crap computer work.

139

[identity profile] eminosuke.livejournal.com 2008-12-02 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Why not laugh at WWII? Why not laugh at war in general? Laughing at a horror makes it less potent. Have you ever heard of Oh What A Lovely War?

Incidentally, isn't it a bit silly to say that laughing at war is wrong when race and drugs and violence and terrorism and everything is in mainstream comedy?

Anyway, you're missing the point. The point isn't bishounen or making light of history (although making light of history is fun, and I've learnt a lot from Hetalia). The point is that it's a comic with genuinely engaging characters and relationships, an interesting premise and a lot of laughs and awwww moments.

Your secret moved me the most. I really appreciate the fact that you don't peg yourself to BE the character you're cosplaying and you show a lot of respect for those who cosplay because of their love for the show/character instead of the attention. Honestly I hate people like that. You're very admirable.
This guy sound like a total sleaze bag. It hurts me to see that he is ruining my favorite ship and character for you. This guy is nothing like Lavi. Lavi is actually very emotionally profound. This guy is not even half the man he is. It sucks that you just can't drop him because of the project. I understand how it feels, having to fix up all of someone's screw-ups and you shouldn't have to subject yourself to that kind of crap. I think you should go with the girl that cosplays Allen. I'm rooting for you. :D
Damn I wish I knew you irl so I could give you a hug or something.
