IMO, the vast majority aren't worth seeing, but I think you're missing out with Simba's Pride. I think in some ways its soundtrack is better than the original's, and I watch it more often than TLK because I love Kovu and his interactions with Kiara (Simba's daughter). It's a very enjoyable (and even kinda dark at times) Disney movie.

101. You, sir, are and idiot. :/

118. Me, too.

133. Return of Jafar failed hard, and ever since then I've been wary of Disney sequels and threequels, mainly because I just can't understand why.

150. Paterson Joseph is not quintessentially British? lrn 2 Neverwhere.

153. I LOLed.

Ah, but you see, saying that is like saying people who prefer poetry over fiction are stupid.

See, different genre all together. One just happens to have art along with the words.

lulz. White or black, man or woman, gay or straight, it won't matter. The Doctor can regenerate into the entire cast of Top Gear and Nu Who will still continue to be cringe-inducingly bad until they hire some writers with a clue... ;p

101. I'm kind of laughing at all the reactive "WELL U JUST DONT KNO TEH GUD OV DIFFERNT MEDIUMS" replies to this. Also the troll calling. You idiots, are you just incapable of thinking? First of all, the picture is of a bunch of serial newsstand-type comics. I'm sorry, but most of those blow goats. Second of all, it is absolutely, unquestionably true that the medium of comics/graphic novels has produced works of profound depth and insight and deserve their place right next to the classics on the bookshelves of intellectuals. Maus is one. Cerebus is another. ElfQuest was an excellent piece of storytelling through art until WaRP got old and jaded and sold out to artists who couldn't draw a straight line with a ruler. A Distant Soil is, in my opinion, a load of nauseating emo crap, but the art is spectacular, and the story is certainly not bad, despite the rather stomach-turningly steriotyped nature of the characters. And that's just a few examples.

BUT.

For all the classics of the comic-book genre add to storytelling as a whole, it's a genre that's been around for too little time to be able to compete with "real books." There just isn't enough genuinely important graphic storytelling to justify liking it "better" for most people -- because, face it, most people crowing their opinions around here aren't high intellectuals who are considering the contributions of graphic storytelling to the literary craft as a whole. Most of them are people who can't handle heavy intellectual content unless it's spoon-fed in picture-book form.

In short... comics/graphic novels are a totally valid literary medium, but "preferring" them is really taking the easy way out and ignoring the thousands of years of extraordinary literature that's been created by humanity worldwide.

139. I have no idea what this is, but to be totally honest, I'm laughing at anyone who thinks it's worth a thousand replies of wank. I'm willing to consider that there MIGHT be one or two people reading/posting here who were personally affected by WWII and can remember it. I'm sure MOST people here know or have known WWII vets personally. SOME of you might have had a relationship that was close enough, over a long enough period of time, with a vet or survivor who was affected enough for it to matter in their every day lives, and for that reason you might be affected by their experiences enough to give a flying fuck about some random-ass weaboo wankfodder and what people think of it. But I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt most of you have any ground to care as much as you seem to, which leads me to think this manga attracts a fandom of people who just sit there and BEG for drama like cheap whores.

102. YES. It boggles the mind how anyone could ever find him unattractive. If that's ugly who the fuck stands a chance?

136. (IMO) Most everything about those two episodes were simply tasteless, embarrassing, or sub-par. The dialogue was bad, so much of it was unnecessary, and I'm becoming frustrated with the handling of half of the shows characters; that being said, you should watch the episodes. Reading a summary or an episode description isn't the same thing as actually watching the episodes, and just because other people don't like them doesn't mean it's impossible you'll find something to enjoy about them yourself (there WERE a couple good scenes in the episodes, it's just all the utter crap made it hard to remember).

Hell, I've even seen a few people say those were their favorite episodes! Granted, I think those people have shitty taste, but to each their own, you know? Not everyone likes the same thing; you should see for yourself before you judge - it's silly not too.

P.S. Some of the episode titles this season are atrocious. 'Heaven and Hell', seriously? And the title for one of the upcoming episodes? Don't even get me started.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-01 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Originally, it was called Hell's Angels. They should've kept that one. :(

and rofl, you mean Criss Angel is a Douche Bag? I dunno, I don't mind that one too much. It's WTF, but at least it's not lame like...Heaven and Hell. But I miss the days of S2 when they named it after classic rock tracks like Born Under A Bad Sign and Houses of the Holy.

I do love Fall Out Boy though, but I haven't heard this song. (So out of touch at the moment. Geeze Pete, the things I do to stay away from your personal life!)

I should be getting to bed, so I'll have to look this up tomorrow. EXCITED.

Also: Patrick could sing me the alphabet and I'd swoon. It's true. I agree about the phone book; that's even better. (Mostly though I wish he'd sing my favorite theme songs. Like, I would give my life savings to hear him sing 'Snake Eater' or the theme from Firefly. Just, anything fandomy, really.)

101 - Not to continue the drama, but...
Fuck you. Anyone who says that comics are superior to books, doesn't have a clue about what comic books are about. I can say this because I work at a fucking comic bookstore! Elitist bitch. I'll just let a comic book character say it best:

Image (http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d64/Kitty_Alexander/?action=view&current=Spider_Jerusalem.jpg)

115 - I also work at a coffee shop. Anytime I heard a customer talk about the Twilight film, I gave them decaf. It made me feel happy.

125 - Let the Right One In and the original comic version of 30 Days of Night. Both of these are just as good as Dracula if not better. I personally find Dracula trite. But that's just me.

150 - What the fuck? This actor is British. Oh, wait a minute. I get it. He's black. That's what the problem. Thanks for helping to identify your racism! Good Luck with that!

111. I want to know who made this so I can find cosplay pictures of them as Yu and judge if whoever plays Kanda should be part of the group. Which sounds more creepy then wanting to fangirl over the pairing...

OP here, 'Kanda'. Sorry, not a chance. ^^; I'd get spotted, I'm afraid. But both 'Lavi' and I formed the group and he is not just -my- problem in the group. I'm usually the damage control to the wank he does. What I'm most pissed about is that he seems to be in this to hit on me (and eventually other girl crossplayers) rather than help out and help organize stuff.

101. Because obviously, their preference not being your preference means that they're idiots. Obviously. How much of an idiot am I for liking specific comics and manga better than specific books? Am I an immature weeaboo automatically because I tend to enjoy anime more often than I enjoy American TV shows? PLEASE, OP, TELL ME MORE ABOUT ME, I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT ON MY OWN.

106. That's not weird. c: SOUNDS LIKE FUN TO ME.

108. RVB FUCKYEAH

111, 112. DDD: I am so sorry. These situations sound so sucky. *hugs for you both* I hope things get better for you soon, 111, and 112, I'm sorry that you had to lose a friend, but good for you staying strong and keeping to your principles? ♥

115. And yet, if people were reacting in that way to almost any other movie, you probably wouldn't have given much of a shit. It might help for you not to get angry and rebellious just because a movie that you dislike is popular.

116. Anybody with that attitude toward any movie based on a previous media sucks. :/ FANDOM ASIDE, THAT'S JUST STUPID.

120. So basically, it's not even that you have your own opinion about the music, it's just that it's a "type" of music you "should" hate and feel ashamed that you might have your own opinion about it?

You'll live.

125. Wow, way to be a douche. I wonder how many of them you've actually read? Dracula was pretty damn awesome, and a good chunk of win goes to its being the first of the genre. The Dracula Tapes (I think it's called?) by Fred Saberhagen was amazing. The Southern Vampire books with Sookie Stackhouse aren't brilliant, but they're a lot of fun (at least the first few). I ://// about Anne Rice a LOT, but way over Interview with the Vampire I would totally recommend The Vampire Lestat to anyone who I think might like it, simply because that book actually made me cry and I automatically love any book that moves me like that, lame sounding or not.

You don't like anything after Dracula =/= everything else is fail, anyone who likes other vampire stories fails, and nobody should read them because liking them is obviously just having a bad opinion. Learn to differentiate opinions from facts.

138. Aaaand you just instantly lost the respect of a ton of people here. If you'll live, we'll live. (: PS: not a fan, but love a few of her songs, and like some of the others.

139. Yeah, because the idea of a quirky series that personifies countries and approaches history in a lighthearted (and sometimes not so lighthearted) manner is totally horrible. No one could possibly like the series for anything other than "ZOMG BISHIESS!!1!" and we should all be ashamed of ourselves for enjoying something that isn't srs bsns. And oh my god! If we like any of the characters, we must be horrid -- we have to remember to take countries completely seriously! How could they be anything other than clumps of rock?!

Just now getting into the series, but people like you make me ashamed that you're an anime fan and a fangirl in general, too.

141. Not everyone who reads the books thinks it's awesome JUST SAYIN'. That said, though, I hope your friend gets through her relationship okay and is in a healthier place soon. >:

111.

147. It's not possible, because people seem to NOT KNOW WHAT WEEABOO MEANS jakhfkasjfaf. I wouldn't mind living in Japan! I also wouldn't mind living in England, Wales, Germany, or several other countries. Am I a weeaboo just because I like things that happen to be from Japan, and Japan is in my list of places I'd love to visit/move to?

149. The fact that your list included "creepy pedo/yaoi" as if it were a het relationship with an underage girl (or an underage boy and an older women) it would be A-okay, "creepy master/servent" as if there's anything wrong with that kind of pairing, and bashing on both OMG IT'S SO OVERDRAMATIC and, apparently, OMG IT DOESN'T TAKE ITSELF SERIOUSLY ENOUGH! kind of puts me off this entire secret. :/

150. Um. He's British, dumbass. You can't get more "quintessentially British" than being British. Fail.

151. ... Why don't you hate the fans from before AND after Turn 21 who are getting his character wrong, instead of automatically judging all the new fans, including the ones who may be getting him right? Just sayin'.

155. THISSSSSSSSSSSSSS

156. I, uh. Don't see what's so wrong about that. ):

159. Yeah, because anyone liking anything not canon/that you don't like is absolutely horribleeeeeee. Baw baw baw. You can't like a non-canon pairing AND still enjoy the show as a medical drama! IT'S UNPOSSIBLE. B|

160. ... I MAY BE THINKING OF THE WRONG. ROOT/SPICE OR SOMETHING. BUT UH.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD HURT. DDDDDDDDDDD:

101. And I can't help my knee-jerk reaction of saying "fuck you". Nothing wrong with comics. I love both comics and novels, don't prefer one to the other as they're different experiences. saying things like "real book" and calling people who prefer comics stupid though? Makes you sound like a snob.

You're totally allowed to think he's not right for the part! Or to prefer someone else to the part!

To say he's not "British enough" for the part when he's British, though, and the only thing that might not make him "British enough" is the color of his skin... then, yeah, the OP saying that is being a racist idiot. A British person is a British person. You can have your preferences, just don't be a twit.
