Ah, TF2Chan. I remember getting raged on because of the way I drew the Pyro. I thought it was rather funny. For all it's idiocy, I rather quite enjoy it there.

[identity profile] wazira-sharira.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
133. I lose respect for anyone who likes the Aladdin sequel. Never bothered photoshopping that onto the cover and posting it here because it's not a fucking secret by any definition. I've only seen it once and envy people who've never heard of it. That being said, I can sit through the third one. You might be on to something here...

150. I haven't even seen the show and I know the Doctor's A FUCKING ALIEN. As in FROM SPACE. As in A PLACE WHERE NOBODY IS ACTUALLY BRITISH. You lose, good day sir!

Me too. For some reason I can see them as having a great brother dynamic. Write some?

101. I bet you're going to post soon with "thanks for taking part in my social experiment!" - wankbaiters usually do.

(Anonymous) 2008-11-30 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
101. Urm...okay. I'm a total booknerd, but I love comics/manga, too. I'm an artist, so story plus art in one go? Win!

102. Awwww, agree. <3

110. I'm a military brat, too! :)
The men I knew...definitely weren't cavemen, lol. In fact, if I ever find 'true love' it will probably have to be with a military man/brat. I'm more in-tune with other brats, since they also know what it's like to move all the time, etc.

133. I HATE the animated Disney sequels, since the story and art tends to be HORRIBLE. Disney just wants my money... I like to pretend the sequels don't exist. :)

134. Aww, I want to say you should be honest with her, but... I wouldn't worry too much about it, since A LOT of those covers SUCK. Especially those ones with the computer people (what are those called?). The people look horrifying- I'm kind of afraid of them, lol. I always feel like I'm the only one who thinks so though, since no one ever says anything.

138. *raises hand* Madonna fan! :D

139. I just got into Hetalia... I think the countries as people things is cute. ;P

158. Yea! <3

I can say with certainty that just because there are pictures in a book =/= pointless fluff. Maus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maus) is an excellent example of a graphic novel still used at the college level in both literature and sociology classes.

101. ...And the fact that some people don't have the attention span for long blocks of text is a CLEAR indicator of intelligence or maturity. Riiiight.
Scott McCloud talks about this...that adults are somehow "not allowed" to have images in reading material because it's considered a storytelling device only for children. Which is a stupid idea.

102. I agree |Db He's also dorky and adorable and sweet.

123. What is this?

132. .............That's an adorable idea. I probably won't be able to unsee it now |D

138. I'm curious as to why o_o

(Anonymous) 2008-11-30 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
101. I understand what you're saying, but I don't think most people read comics because they have a short attention span. I think they just enjoy them for various other reasons. In my case, it's actually harder for me to read comics than it is for me to read books, though I enjoy both.

Just sayin. :)

101. ...What happens if you like art? Not because you're stupid and lazy, but because it's art? With a story much like that of a novel's?

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
110: On the one hand, that "that sort" of true love doesn't really exist is sort of the point of the movie. Wesley and Buttercup have the deepest emotional connection it's possible for two human beings to have together, strong enough for him to come back from the dead for her, and it's still not perfect. On the other hand, you clearly need to meet some better men. (I suggest hanging out at bookstores for a start.)

135: That series has been all about the hurt-comfort since at least the Second Doctor. Which is not to say you're wrong, I would too, just that I don't get why this is a secret.

142: And I am a secret Martin Page fangirl, and you just made me buy the song off of iTunes with your evil mind control!

143: OMFG, you didn't - *checks image title* - you totally did. You shipped Wilfred Owen and Seigfried Sassoon. I - I thought I was the only one!

153: Not paying attention, were we?

n!s1: Yup.

n!f1: Good luck. I moved to another state rather than try and explain my life to my parents; there are still things they don't know about.

150

[identity profile] chicafrom3.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
I would really love to dismiss you as a stupid troll -- because, um, obviously you are seeing as you've taken word-for-word from the bingo card -- but the fact that I've seen people saying this in all seriousness and not anonymously makes me incredibly sad.

Srsly, he's a talented actor, he'll make a great Doctor if they cast him which I sincerely hope they do, and he's certainly more than British enough to play the Doctor.

And he's hot. But that's my shallowness speaking.

[identity profile] lottery.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
110. If a girl like me could find a prince, then you will, too. Just keep your eyes and mind open :)

115. I would've done the same thing if I were you. I had an opportunity to see Twilight free last night (lol movie-hopping), and I took one look into the crowded theatre and walked right back out. No way in hell was it gonna happen. Keep fighting the power!

129. I don't personally ship it. But I kinda get what you mean.

Davis seemed way more loving to Chloe in Doomsday form than when he was all towering over her like DON'T MARRY THE WRONG MAN OMG, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one to catch that xD

133. ...I know, right! I never cared for Return of Jafar as much of King of Thieves, for example, since Cassim was awesome on a stick. I don't know why Disney doesn't do second films well. (The only exception I can think of is Dead Man's Chest, which I liked more than At World's End, but eh, personal opinion is opinionated. xD)

159. YES PLZ. A House-Cox teamup would be so hilarious and epic. Someone needs to write fic.

[identity profile] commonlogic.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Not a rant, but just a random comment.

As a person who hasn't read a lot of comics/manga, but has read a lot of books, I have to say that comics and manga are a helluva lot more difficult to read than books are.

I recently got back into reading comics (I hadn't read any since I was about oh, 12) and I found it incredibly daunting at first. The combination of images and text made my head hurt and I missed so much in the images because I couldn't focus on both at the same time.

Books are far easier to deal with because they're just text -- your brain only has to process one formal medium at any given moment.

Plus, you're probably a troll...

...and an idiot.

Re: 101

[identity profile] floriatosca.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of manga that I want to get into, but the format just isn't easy for me to follow. I think it comes from both being a very auditory learner and not being used to Japanese formatting.

139 - y hello thar sir misses-the-point!

[identity profile] ninael.livejournal.com 2008-12-01 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
101. There are comics out there that are award winning. The medium in which something is presented doesn't make it any less important or meaningful.

115 & 116. I don't like Twilight at all. I think it's poorly written, and the sample chapter for the book from Edward's point of view showed Meyer trying to write someone smarter than her, which is something that writer's shouldn't do. That being said, I don't think it's right to mock or hate kids that do like it. It's a soap opera for teens. If you think their relationship is impossible, Sonny and Caroline have been married and divorced four times, and Sonny's a mobster. Don't hurt me for the General Hospital reference.

125. The Darkangel Trilogy was fantastic, but then again that wasn't exactly vampires.

133. You may be on to something, here. I love Aladdin and Aladdin 3, but as far as I'm concerned there isn't a second one.

139. Different people react to situations differently. To traumatic situations, some people may go into a rut and refuse to believe it happened, some may refuse to talk about it, some may get extremely depressed, and some may laugh at it. I can't read Japanese, so I can't say this one way or another, but perhaps the author lost relatives to the war?

141. Ugh, that's really scary. Best wishes for your friend, OP.

145. I'll admit that I ship them, but I LOVE seeing them just act like brothers.

150. Maybe if all fanbrats feel that way, I'll actually feel safe in the fandom.

155. Me too. Ms Frizzle rocks.
