101) I like both

139) Did you actually read Hetalia? Yes it makes light fun of history and country stereotypes but you can actually learn a thing or two from reading it as there are little history lessons behind the jokes. I enjoy Hetalia because of the historical aspect not because of the bishounen. In fact I find the character designs not that great.

Or you could just read a history book. If you have any kind of attention span or imagination at all it should be interesting to you without someone having to turn all the countries into cute guys to hold your attention.

See, I used to think that way. But the more I get into the comic book world the more I see I was wrong. There is a lot of depth there. Graphic novels can deal with just as many deep and important issues as novels. V for Vendetta, Endless, hell even the Avengers: Civil War.

Try reading some graphic novels. Forget any preconceived ideas and just try them out. You might find they aren't as bad as you thought. I know it changed my point of view. =)

101. I remember a teacher I had in high school who gave 20 minutes each week to read a book in class, and she allowed us to bring comics and graphic novels because she realized imagination and creativity goes into them just as much as a book (with some exceptions, of course). At the end of a month, she'd question us on what the book/comic/graphic novel was about and what we were taking from it so far.

I thought she was awesome.

133. Aw, I really liked Return of Jafar and Belle's Enchanted Christmas. Oh, and Toy Story 2 (how is that a trilogy? I know there were rumors...). I'll agree that TLK 1 1/2 is way better than Simba's Pride, though. :3

150-Is that actor not British? Or can a black person never be, even if his family's been British longer than a white family? Especially if he's an alien?

154-I hope you get a career you enjoy for yourself!

159-I don't think there is much medical genius on the show, sadly.

It's not so horrible that it's unwatchable, but they've really shoved all other plot lines to the side so they they can focus on Rodney's story. It's become clear that Rodney is the only one that the show runners care about writing for at this point - which really has been pretty obvious for while now. It's just that now that the show is ending everyone is a bit more sensitive to any problems with it.

101. I am voracious reader (well, used to be, have gotten quite lazy now), but in the course of my life, I have met many, many smart, interesting, well-spoken and unbelievably knowledgeable people who confess to not be terribly big fans of book. Whatever medium of expression happens to catch their fancy - movies, comics, or just going out there to see the world - they make the best of it and regularly bring my jaw to the floor in awe.

You, on the other hand, are a narrow-minded idiot.

118. Oh my, you theater geek ♥

I got all happy when I saw a Shakespeare secret, although I guess english majors like myself don't feel the same fear of screaming Macbeth at the top of our lungs.

103. Wait, wait. You want a douchebag like Yuki in your life? Huh?

127. Guessing from the picture, you think you're the Light to her L. So... you're both competitive, childish, and you're planning to kill her as soon as you can. How romantic. ...Seriously, people. Do people actually pay attention to canon before they start comparing themselves to the relationships they're using?

139. Can't say I've read the series well enough to know all the details. And I seriously pondered the "maybe it's not 'too soon'" aspect. But yeah, there's just something about making light of WWII that makes me a little uneasy. To each their own, though, I suppose.

Re: 103, 127, 139

(Anonymous) 2008-11-30 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not that he likes him in the anime/manga/movies or anything like that. It's simply referring to the characters we play ourselves and how much like them we are. Also, we both enjoy the ship, even though we also know it isn't going to easily happen. Whenever we RP it, we always make sure to do so in an IC way, and that is what's challenging.

ever heard of Walter Moers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Moers)? He started with comics and has by now moved on to write wonderful novels. So, in your opinion, what does that make him?

The jokes are made at the expense of the Axis powers, and even then it's never about the death and killing. The kind of jokes they make are about how Italy retreats faster than he advances, and how Germany is constantly dragged down because he has to support Italy all the time. There's no 'lolololol nazis' or anything. In fact, they haven't even MENTIONED nazis yet. (Or Jewish people, for that matter. But there wasn't really an Israeli state back then, so they couldn't really have a character, could they?)

As a fellow music snob, I feel your pain. I love Panic's first album, but their second one sucks. Do not be ashamed! It's better that you like them than Simple Plan.

101. Sadly, this is the case with a LOT of people. But you know, I wouldn't be so quick to judge because many people have very valid reasons for preferring graphic novels. I personally prefer graphic novels over "real books" not because I'm "TOO STUPID" but because I'm very... ART CENTRIC. If the art is good and the flow of the panels is good, it's almost like watching a movie. It's fun, and I can get really involved while oogling at the delicious art. And I'm dyslexic so reading a lot of text can give me migraines (I still enjoy and read books though, dont get me wrong).

139. Chiiilll. Let the fangirls have their fun. Y SO SRS MANG. I dont like it personally. but some of the people who do like it are very much into history, and they like how it's just silly fun.

149. Honestly, if the art wasn't so pretty I wouldn't be so into this series. I have some major gripes with the story line, I'm mostly in it for the relationship with Ciel(<33) and Sebastian, and you KNOW. It's just cutesy fun. THOUGH the anime filler is HORRIBLE and makes me cringe, the manga is much better, IMO.

N!S 2. HAHAHHA I THINK I KNOW WHO DID THIS? MAYBE? Either way I FUCKIN LOL'd.

edit Why isnt there a "TWILIGHT HATE SECRETS" community yet?
