When did Aspergers become so popular on the laundry list of mental illnesses kiddies on the internet claim to have? While I agree with velvet_mace and khandreia... The people that are lying to excuse their crappy behavior- when did this become a trend to use this as an excuse? D: I mean what fanwank started it? I mean I understand that fandom and obession and all that fits and in hand.. it's prefect for someone who has Aspergers.. (or someone who's '9_6 dur hur social life what?' like me)

But even I would feel a lot more comfortable at home doodling FMA fan art then in a huge room/convention filled with FMA fans. I'd probably shit myself from my social ftftftft-ness. 8|

150. XD It's well beyond shipping for me, it's practically canon! (On that note, I tend to ship Han/Luke. The two aren't mutually exclusive, either.)

155. I sympathise! Torchwood fandom can be fucking crazy. I had to stop reading fic because it was making me hate my favourite pairing -_- But can't you just... say... watch the show, and ignore the fandom? I still love the show. I still love Jack/Ianto in the show. I just... refuse to get involved in fandom. (I'm still in Doctor Who fandom, but I've been in it long enough to avoid the crazy ^_~)

172. On behalf of everyone who actually has Aspergers and who isn't using it to act like a twat, sorry >.< The vast majority of people who actually have Aspergers try not to use it as an excuse. Explanation, sometimes, but never an excuse.

Having said that, fandom is pretty much perfectly suited for Aspies - it requires narrow focus, it's tolerant of odd 'quirks', and it's largely net-based, which cuts out face-to-face communication and eliminates the misunderstandings you get from not being able to interperate body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. The one con I've been to (a Doctor Who con in LA this February) was an interesting experience, as I would say that a LOT of people attending (who are, after all, all obsessed Doctor Who fans!) would fit the diagnostic requirements for Aspergers. So it wouldn't surprise me to get a larger-than-usual amount of Aspies in one place.

I'm sorry that your experiences have led you to believe that everyone with Aspergers is a) a liar, b) a dickhead or c) both, but believe me, we're not all like that.

153. I completely understand you. I love Lee Pace. Didn't really like Pushing Daisies. (In fact, he was the only reason why I gave the show a chance in the first place.) Hopefully now we can see him in something showing off his range.

167. Okay, I sort of understand where you are coming from. Having the character looking one way for so long only to do a 180 in style can be a bit jarring. Sort of like remaking Shaft as a be pale redhead with lots of freckles. Or turning Bruce Wayne into a 72 year old Peruvian woman. Or Spock into a little Chinese girl with pointy ears.

We are set in our ways of how we see characters.

It's weird.

However, the Doctor isn't really British. He's Gallifryan. So the argument of him having to be light skinned because he is ethnically British is wrong. Since DW writers have never really dived into Gallifryan society we don't know what happens when their people go into later regenerations. Who knows? Maybe they turn color. Maybe they turn gender. Maybe they all turn ginger. It's up to the writers to make that part up.
