120. That song is so brilliant, although the entire score is wonderful. But yeah, I pretty much agree. It's an incredibly powerful song.

130. This show is everything I love about life. The animation is fun, the characters are sweet, and Batman is neither a total prick nor Adam West. It's cute and fun and sends good messages. Sure it isn't Batman: TAS, but it has its own merits, and I wish people would judge it on those rather than constantly weighing it against Batman:TAS.
Also, it has Blue Beetle and Red Tornado. And Guy. And (eventually) Booster!

[identity profile] fail-cookie.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
108: That's awesome :) Rock Lee's mine though, haha -blush- amongst some other fictional characters when i'm on the treadmill ^.^;

137: Cartman/Kyle is by far my OTP for South Park! (then Kenny/Kyle, everyoneelse/Kyle) but I ship Stan and Kyle too ^.^;; (Gawd there's *almost* too much slash in this series) Now that you mention...i-i've not really seen that many people that hates Style, but i'm not really in the fandom.

[identity profile] fail-cookie.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
133: PHAHAHAHA How did i miss this!? Lidl and Aldi are totes low-budget lovers (where I live they're almost right next to each other and i will never unsee this ty very much) But what about Asda/Morrison hatesex D: (*Is too involved in this*) Omg foodshop fandom???

[identity profile] jblankbluth.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
115. I have to comment on this because I, too, am a Producers slasher. Mainly for the remake but whatever, we're all on the same team. XD

129

129 - Are you...me? Because this is EXACTLY my opinion. I mean, I know the hardcore anime fans can be just as nuts as the hardcore manga ones, but...Still. I like the anime better.

Re: 136

[identity profile] mahkia.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually did a double-take when I saw it, for the same reason. XD And he is definitely inspiring, but one of the great things about him is that he doesn't see himself as a poster boy for cleaning-up-and-coming-back; he just considers himself fortunate. ^^

My paid account expired, or else I'd be using one of my many other related icons. >__>

114. Yes! Even as a Canadian (haha), I love his pure, straightforward ideals. All I seem to hear about America on the news these days is death, terror, crisis, etc, but Hetalia-America reminds me of all the good things I've read about my neighboring country. Truth, justice, honesty, freedom! In other words, go you, Secret Poster!

152. Whoa! I was just thinking about rereading that book, and then BAM, a secret! Uncanny! I'm indifferent to shipping, meself, but oh my, fandom would be lovely. I must say you have excellent taste in literature, Secret Poster :)

126- Inorite? And he's one of the few doctors I do actually like. Or try to, these days :/

129

[identity profile] telrunya.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
129. See, this is funny because the exact opposite happened to me, with anime fans bashing the manga whenever they could. I love the manga, I never felt attached to the anime, and that's why I didn't keep watching. So in my opinion, the constant bashing is awful on both sides. I'm sorry you have to suffer because of this, though.

129. I respect your right to stand up for the shitty anime.

But seriously, if you're crying over people not liking what you like, I think you might need a break from the internet.

129 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-12-27 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You...missed the point completely, didn't you? I'm not upset by people disliking the anime, or pointing out its flaws. What upsets me is the attitude among some manga fans that they are *superior* for liking the manga, and that people who like the anime are shallow idiots who simply like it for the pretty bishonen and wangsty storytelling. I understand that my reaction is over the top (hence it being, you know, a secret), but it's derived from perceived ridicule, not from a difference in opinion.

He's....american D:

Re: 114.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-27 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
OSNAP U DON'T LOVE MY COUNTRY BAAAWWWWW

Just kiddin'. Honestly, I think a big part of the US fanbase is so fond of Alfred for the TYPE of "American" he is--annoying and kind of overbearing but ultimately well-meaning and optimistic, as opposed to the raging psychopath he could easily be portrayed as in just about any period beyond the WWII strips. We know a lot of you guys aren't pleased with our government track record, so any depiction of us from overseas that tries to bring up the good as well as the bad is...sort of awesome and inspiring.

Oh god, that sounds so conceited and I'm sorry. But that stupid character is basically the only thing that's made me feel something like respect for my own country in a long, long time (well, maybe not the ONLY thing, but the other big one's still pending because I'm a pessimist).

Uh, yeah, I'll stop preaching now. wtf. PS: OP, you are adorable. Let's watch horror movies together.

101. Huh? Having fandom ruined for you has NOTHING to do with devotion to it. You could be the most devoted fan in the world, and someone or something can come along and ruin it, just like that. Similarly, you could be a casual fan at best and not let those things get to you. Believe me, I've been lurking in a fandom for quite some time, and I've seen a lot of stuff that could've turned me away completely, but none of those things have made me lose interest or "ruined" it for me somehow.

109. As a future Watchmen fandom n00b, I would just like to say that I would not like being lorded over at all. XDDDD

138. Oh, believe me, I sympathize! I've read too many fics that had amazing ideas but were ruined by bad grammar, OOC-ness, etc.

107: Who doesn't? Pixar OTP!

124: The original "Any Way You Want It" is a damn fine piece of pop-rock. Don't let anyone tell you differently. (So is "Only Solutions".)

125: Whoa, original Monkees secret! This makes me happy.

126: He's a Doctor in every sense of the word.

133: That's awesome.

142: Oh, that's why Taggart wasn't in Eureka Season 3. Good to know.

148: It's not one of my personal favorites, but it is an incredibly sweet scene.

n!s3: That's kind of scary, actually.

N!S3 OP

It explains so much about social psychology.

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
101 - Eh, so what if someone is not "devoted" enought? Fandom is not a job or a religion.

114 - So, have you finished the giant robot yet? :D Ahaha, I love him. I don't know how Americans see him but for me he's how I've always imagined the USA. In fact, I could tell he was the USA by first glance and not just by his uniform.
(Also, THANK YOU for not using that fanart.)

129 - I also prefer the anime to the manga but... y'know, people have different opinions and stuff? I don't like people bashing the anime, which is why I ignore it when I see it (most of the time).

135 - secret aside, AAWWWW KITTEHS. <3333

139 - ARGH, it's that fanart again. x_x (Also, that guy is scary.)

152 - ....and yet again. That aside - wait, there's a Brothers Karamazov game?! O_O

145 - Er, what? You have a new hobby, how about trying to enjoy it?

[broken record]
Dear Hetalia fans and haters: would you please find some new image to use for your secrets? o__o
[/broken record]

129 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-12-27 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Having a different opinion is not the same as being a pompous, judgmental asshole. People agreeing to disagree and sticking to what they like? Awesome. People bashing on the anime, and saying (or at least implying) that anime fans are shallow idiots who have no grasp of plot cohesion and good storytelling? Not so awesome. That's what gets to me, and it's pretty difficult to ignore.

128. I don't understand how being upset over the fact that obviously non-white characters are being played by white people is "whining". That honestly doesn't bother you? Personally, I'm proud of the Avatar fandom (and I'm not even a part of it!) for actually trying to come together and at least make their voices heard. It isn't about silly ship wars, it isn't about whether or not the ending was any good, it's about very obvious racial prejudice in Hollywood.

If you're so apathetic towards it, it shouldn't be such an issue to turn your back on this too, right?

107. ...oh hell, so do I.
115. I still haven't managed to see this movie, but Gene Wilder! ♥
126. YES. That, and really explore it as a flaw, rather than portraying him as a tragic lonely god all the damn time.
128. Aren't people also writing letters to Paramount and trying to catch the attention of mainstream media? The more knowledge of this that's getting out there, the better. Also, it's not just Avatar fans that are pissed off by this--it's a long-standing Hollywood trend.
132. That book is awesome. (Disclaimer: I'm an athiest.) Keep in mind that this is one author's interpretation of the Devil, and a sympathetic one; he isn't the same as the Devil that you believe him, but an intriguing character.
135. Oh god the picture.

guess what, being a gay man isn't as hot and sexy and wonderful as you think it is. know what else? being transsexual is even LESS fun and MORE stressful.

113. Me too, anon. Meeee too.

136. YAAAAAY RDJ FANDOM! We has cookies! :D

148. This is a lovely secret. ^_^ I agree.

151. This might be a STUPID question, but have you tried bringing it up, or is it just a complete no-go? My husband used to roleplay when he was younger (not sexually), and I always hope there's going to be a day where he'll get up the courage to play the roles I've asked that we play. Ball's in his court now. The waiting sucks, but having gotten the secret out to him was liberating.

153. Don't hide, anon! You're not alone. ;_; It's awkward and makes you feel guilty, but you're definitely not alone.

[identity profile] fabula-umbrae.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
101. People get emotionally tied to things. It's no different than not being able to listen to "your song" with someone right after they break up with you. You could love that song to bits, and it would still make you cry because it would remind you of a heart breaking experience.

That and you don't need to be devoted to a fandom in order to enjoy it. Sounds like someone's either speaking from a lack of experience or trying to make themself feel better than someone else.

128

(Anonymous) 2008-12-27 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
