Yesterday's thread made me think of things I like and put me in the mood for a few things.

1. PWPs focused on one of the characters. As in the particular scene is all about one of the character's needs and getting them off.

2. D/s where the sub is more experienced or at least super enthusiastic and very into what is going on. No hesitation, no use of "no" even within the scene.

3. Oral-only PWPs. slash, femslash, het, don't care. Just something where only oral sex is involved (fingers can come into play too, but the focus should be on mouths/tongues).

When I was a kid I LOVED Amelia Atwater-Rhodes books. Not sure how they would hold up now but I still own them from my childhood. I am honestly surprised they were never made into movies when every other YA series was. Her vampires had some pretty unique powers.

As an adult, I loved the book Vamped.

For movies and show, I gotta go with What We Do In The Shadows. So damn good.

30 Days of Night, I like my vamps nasty and bloodthirsty to the max.

And for something much lighter: What We Do in the Shadows, both the movie and TV show. I find them genuinely funny and enjoyable to watch.

What about anime? I have anime favorites. Owari no Seraph and Shiki are among my favorite anime ever and I'm often more fond of anime vampires than their LA counterparts. (this DOESN'T apply to Vampire Knight and much less to DiaLovers.) Vampire anime recs, anyone? Been thinking of watching Dance with Devils, Trinity Blood and the Blood series for a while now but idk.

Anyway, I am Castlevania trash. And, get hype for Tsukihime Remake!

Cirque Du Freak. The books, NOT that movie.

The author said he intended the first 12 books to be what we got and another 10 or so to be after ... well, an apocalyptic situation I don't want to spoil. I wish we had gotten at least a book or 2 of that world.

Barbara Hambly's Simon Ysidro series.

They're heavy on ambience and historical detail, the main characters are likable, while not blind to the complications of being... fond, of an obligate murderer.

And... well. Ysidro's endless protestations that vampires are callous, unfeeling, selfish creatures, while basically engaging in an old-fashioned Courtly Love relationship with Lydia is aces.

For books, I'll always love the orginal Dracula. I am Legend (movie is terrible, book is great). The Historian. Anno Dracula. Salem's Lot (what can I say, I like King). Afterage. Dracula Unbound. Interview with a Vampire (I actually like the first few books of the series before it started to go downhill). Carmilla. Certain Dark Things is really good.

Movies: first three Underworld movies. Bram Stoker's Dracula. All of Christopher Lee's vampire movies because Christopher Lee. Only Lovers Left Alive. Carmilla. The Hunger. Nosferatu. From Dusk Until Dawn (first one mostly, though I've enjoyed the third as well). Nosferatu 1979. Shadow of the Vampire.

I like the look only of Queen of the Damned. It isn't a good movie, but it is a pretty movie with a very pretty cast. And I'll admit, sometimes I enjoy watching the Buffy movie. I wouldn't call it good, but it is kind of fun.

For tv: Buffy, Charmed (original), Angel (though never loved as much as Buffy), Castlevania, Sabrina the Teenage Witch had a vampire in one episode, Penny Dreadful. I like the first 5 seasons of Supernatural. I liked the beginnings of the Dracula tv series, though it got cancelled.

What is the best Atrocity / Disaster / Tragedy / What-have-you to use as an euphemism for masturbation?

at present I'm torn between:

"I've just 9/11'd myself"
"I've just Nanking'd myself"
"I've just Hurricane Katrina'd myself" although I feel that one is more suited to a woman. Don't know why.

I'll hear more suggestions, but I think my favourite has to be one of them.
