Medical Shows

What are your favorite medical shows?

I'm currently rewatching Saving Hope, which is one of my favorites. My top favorite is ER. I like the early seasons of Grey's Anatomy. I like Call the Midwife a lot. Code Black was great and cancelled far too early. I like parts of Chicago Med, although I hate Will and dislike Natalie. Of course, House was good, at least for 4 seasons. Early Scrubs was good. All Creatures Great and Small is a vet show, but it is great (both versions).

Also, I like several of the vet shows on Animal planet. Dr. K: Exotic Animal ER, Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet, The Vet Life, and Dr. T: Lone Star Vet.

I remember really liking this show called "Medical Investigation", about a team that would be sent to investigates outbreaks of dangerous and unusual diseases. But I can't remember much about it. There was one episode where the outbreak was a genetic disease, because the local IVF doctor would use his own sperm when he thought the intended father's wouldn't work. I can't remember how horrified everyone else was in the story but I think they were VERY.

MASH, definitely.

And not a show, but I loved the Medical Detectives, which is nonfiction book with a series of real life cases that were used as inspiration for several House episodes.

The only one I follow is "The Good Doctor", and I started watching that one just 'cause I liked Freddie Highmore from "Bates Motel" and wanted to see him in another show :D. But I do like the series itself as a whole, too.

Outside of that, I haven't really delved into the medical show genre much, outside of seeing the occasional clip/episode of "Grey's" or "ER" or something.

Rewatching ER right now! Loved that (though it really tedious when it turned into 'The Abbey Show'). Loved St. Elsewhere back in the day, Quincy, M.E., M*A*S*H, of course, China Beach.... I do enjoy my medical shows.

I'm still watching Grey's Anatomy.
I liked the early ER seasons (same for House M.D., Everwood, and Call the Midwife).
M*A*S*H is always good.
I watched a few episodes of St. Elsewhere and even though they was good, I could never really get into it.
China Beach was good, but depressing.
Chicago Hope was completely bonkers, but in a way I liked.
I used to love Doogie Howser, M.D.. but I'm not sure it hold up that well on a rewatch.
I did like Port Charles (a spinoff of General Hospital) when it started as a medical show, but then it turned into vampires and angels and I stopped watching. General Hospital may have at some points been considered a medical show, but honestly, when I watched, and this was for years, so much of it had nothing to do with anything medical, that I wouldn't call it one.
They used to show a UK show on PBS called Doctor in the House (Doctor at Large, Doctor in Charge, Doctor... ) that I really liked as a kid, but I haven't seen it since or found it anywhere for this region.
I will go ahead and call Northern Exposure a medical show and I liked it, but it was weird.

Honestly, I can't even with most medical shows because as someone who works in a hospital I just end up with a, "I'm sorry, what now?" expression on my face most of the time lol.

Does anyone else find they can't watch shows that centre on their field of work, because you can't have that same suspension of disbelief that you can with other stuff?

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I've been pretty sick all day from my first vaccine shot. So I've slept a ton. Hopefully the pain in my arm goes away so I can fix up my raised garden bed. My only other goal is to start working on fixing my Animal Crossing island now that I can terraform.

I'm having a sleep study done tomorrow night. Was supposed to be tonight, but the called to reschedule.

Other than that, I'm putting music on my new ipod and watching Saving Hope. Will clean the house at some point because parents are coming back probably Sunday.

And giving kitty attention because she's wanted a lot of it the past few days.

I've been putting off deep-cleaning the kitchen all week so I'm gonna aim to do it this weekend. Also might be meeting up with a friend on Sunday if the weather is good.

I heard being sick after it can be a good sign! It means that your immune system is taking it's lesson in how to fight thie thing seriously. Do take care of yourself.

Podcast recording got delayed to this sunday because one of the hosts was sick, and recording will happen on sunday even if she's still sick.
Tomorrow, will probably play some amoung us with friends. Otherwise, I got korean to catch up on.

Hopefully not lying in bed feeling terrible, but since that's how things mostly have been going for a month, I'm not making any plans. Likely they'd just be ruined.

So... I mean, playing Pokemon Go and Animal Crossing from my bed is certain, at least. And I'll be mad if I can't be upright long enough to clean my pets' litterboxes. If I'm not in too much pain, maybe make fic progress.

Pairing Tagging Question

Hello! So I am not very Ao3-savvy yet where tags are concerned, and would like some opinions on the following.

I'm writing and publishing a novel-length fic with a main pairing (A/B) and an implied pairing (C/D).

Although A/B is the focus, the platonic relationship between B & C is also central to the plot (it's a mentor and protégé relationship gone sour). B notices some signs between C and his sworn enemy/arch-rival D, and although he doesn't figure it out explicitly, it's supposed to be obvious to the reader that there's a romantic layer to the C/D relationship too. This appears in about 8 out of 20 chapters, but in a way that's not as essential for the plot as much as for the characterization.

Should I tag for C/D too? Would this be bad etiquette because C/D is implied and not as focal in the fic, even though the character of C is? Or should I ditch the tag? Am I overthinking this? Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Writing sci-fi question

I'm writing a story set 200 years in the future and I'm a bit stuck as to how to describe characters. The main characters are European and American. I just assume that two centuries in the future everyone from those demographics will pretty much be mixed race? Whaddya think, FS? Does that seem reasonable?

Small Frustration

I can't remember the name of a song, nor the artist, just this one specific clip, and even then I don't/can't make out what they're saying. And I know I'm not able to even hum the tune of that clip right either lol. Damn it,! I know it's a rock song... they're giving The Darkness vibes. Sigh. Maybe I'll remember it and find it one day.
