I'm not into anime so I can't really name characters, but I do historical costuming and other expensive wastes of time like that (and I'm fat, too), so I know all about the joy-making magic of foundation garments and a flattering cut. And I'd imagine that cosplay is mostly about having a campy fun time, so if you're in character and enjoying it, you win!
