102. I had no problem with him...now Ray K...sheesh.

104. OMFG GOREN/EAMES. I don't ship it, but just the mere thought of those two together in anyway way pleases me deeply. Their chemistry is so unique, subtle and beautiful (I always got a thrill out him making her coffee!)

Also, I think I liked the idea of Olivia/Elliot for 2 hot seconds, but I really just want him and wifey to live happily ever after.

Yay, another dS fan! And I like Turnbull! He was actually the first character in the series I got attached to, before I'd even seen any of the episodes. I fell in love with his adorable oddness.

This is the reason why I haven't even bothered to look into the fandom. Although I dislike seme/uke so switching over the stereotypes doesn't actually help.

106. D:

107. While I don't want to have sex with him, Itoshiki-sensei is the sexiest one in the show as much I would hit Kaere and Chie-sensei.

123. ಠ_ಠ

124. I still want to play this game. Dammit!!! ;_;

127. lol

136. You can do it on the down low, ya know.

140. Off topic but do you have the original pic? But the Code Geass casts and fucked up partyboy and girls in an AU? I would read it.

150. I made a detective club in 5th grade because of them. Shit was so cash. We only had one case but it was so much fun~!

153. That is a nice ass.

161. Although this is a "they are in it for the bishounen" secret somewhat, I don't think all of them would look like that per say if we're basing on how they look in the last 10 years and obesity rates. But I admit I thought they were downright adorable when Himaruya drew them more chubby in his earlier strips, finally Finland.

101 - God, that is a cute fucking picture.

115 - Man, I'd ship that if it existed out there somewhere. I do like Nuada/Nuala, but there were some nice HB/Nuada hints. I'm sure I'll get flamed to death for not being anon.

118 - I started reading Hetalia to see what the fuss is about, honestly. It's offensive, sure, but SO WHAT? God, it's not like anyone is forcing anyone else to read it. The wank is funny at times, but mostly just tiring.

163 - I don't know that I ship House/Wilson (I don't actively ship House/anyone), but even Hugh Laurie said in an interview that he could see where the shippers get it from. I forget where I saw that interview, but it made me happy inside anyway.

123) Eh, I give this a 6/10 on the troll scale. You got the douchiness down, complete with handy hypocrisy and a bit of salaciousness thrown in, but you lose points for poor editing and utter lack of subtlety.

125) Well, your mark on it is junk. Why would anyone value it? They don't know you.

136) Don't tell them. Use a pseudonym like the rest of us.

150) Scooby-doo lost a lot of it's charm when I hit 11 and suddenly realized that Velma's explanations actually couldn't work. It would have been better if they just let it be ghosts. Instead it's something that's neither supernatural nor realistic -- just lame.

151) Lucky bastards.

153) I'm very happy that men find male nudity (and homosexual clowning around) funny. Fringe benefits for me.

156) Oh no you don't. Saying you have to choose between real life relationships and fandom is a false dichotomy. You can have both, and most of us do. (Wo)man up and work on your RL relationships. Spend the time to decide what you really want, and start making a rational plan, and put some effort and sacrifice to make it happen. Stop blaming fandom for not trying.

159) I don't. But I'm pretty damn tired of Hetalia as well. It seems like certain fandoms just are more annoying to read secrets about than others. hmmm.

I had no choice in the matter. If you think I did.. well. lets say you have never been a teenager who has been taken into "care".

So you think it is that easy, to re-wire your brain?

I know what I want. Hell, I even know WHO I want - and because of all the years I believed from everything that true love will always triumph even if they hate you, especially if they hate you - I can't let go.

So how exaktly do you propose i get rational about it?

117 -- Too bad no one cares.
118 -- I agree.
161 -- LOL THAT IS HILARIOUS. I think it's a general rule that when making a series of any kind, the whole cast can't be huge and fat. Unless it was to promote self-image or something. However, not all Americans are fat (or have blonde hair, for that matter. I think most have brown, tbh.) Not sure about England though.
167 -- But Wendla didn't know what she was getting into when she had sex... However, I see your point, I suppose. Though I still don't see much substance in their relationship beyong "romeo meets juliet".

161. I think it's a general rule that when making a series of any kind, the whole cast can't be huge and fat.

Why not? It's not like most series strive for realism above all else. And why would it have to be about promoting good self-image if there was a series about fat folks? Can't a creator just want to make something about chubs?

I don't think the artist was trying to imply all Americans and British are fat. Don't those characters eat a lot of scones and hamburgers in the manga yet gain no weight? I think that's probably what the artist was getting at.

Sorry for the tl;dr.

102 - I love Turnbull too. (Also: I started watching this show right around the winter olympics and totally fell in love with Curling.)

123 - lame.

135 - ILU Corner Gas.

149 - I've always wondered why people will always cry that it's just a stupid [type of fictional media] when it's something I care about, but Babe and Bambi are so 'meaningful.' Animals aren't humans, ants don't have discos in their mounds, penguins don't have FM radio or a religion, and mice don't use birds as airplanes. Even if you loved That-One-Cartoon-About-The-Toaster (that I can't remember) it's still just a lamp, it has no feelings. ["Nothing against OP," she typed, annoyed with PETA for targeting her beloved Life-Sciences department, and her 'vegetarian' friend for falling off the face of the Earth.]

161 - And that doesn't apply to the rest of anime, western animation, comic books, movie stars, pop stars, most sitcoms, many novels, all romcoms and Torchwood how exactly? Heck, I know I stuck with BSG as long as I did (and oh Lord help me but I'm about to fall back in) because Lt. Gaeta is so cute. [also, dude! That art is frightening. Their noses haunt my retinas, but I dig the eyebrows and the star-spangled dunce cap.]

[identity profile] cypherwulf.livejournal.com 2009-01-30 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
You're seriously comparing non-human animals to toasters? >_> You do know that humans are animals too right?

What does having FM radios, or religion, or disco have anything to do with being respectful to other animals. Hell, birds can fly, does the fact that you can't fly by your own power mean you are insignificant and not worthy of compassion? It's about as relevant. Just as humans have different culture, animals have their own cultures as well, even if we do not understand them. So they aren't entirely like us, obviously fiction uses anthropomorphism, but that doesn't mean they aren't aware.

But regardless, compassion should be based on the ability to suffer, which they are capable of as much as any human.

I completely agree (especially about the "We're so much better than the Mary Sue-ers!" Guys, just because you don't write Mary Sues doesn't mean you get a free pass for being fucking obnoxious) There was some great content posted in the earlier threads, but it really should have died around thread 6 or so.

Still, part of me remains kinda bitter because I wish he closed the thread after the person writing my Rorschach-getting-tortured-by-henchladies fic I requested could...well, finish it. It was one of the few remaining decent things going on in the thread, too. :/
