117. It's basically just a reversal of what was going on a couple of years ago (and still happens in some fandoms) where fans were very misogynistic. "I hate x because she gets in the way of y and z's YAOI LUV." So now it's nearing the other extreme. The same thing is happening with the old dub vs. sub argument. CAN WE NOT ACHIEVE BALANCE HERE?!

145. I'm also not really in any fandom, and I haven't written fanfiction for years. Every now and then I'll check out communities for news or scans or something, but I just don't participate much anymore. But f!s is like, The Fandom Times. I can tell what's popular, which fandoms are having wanksplosions, etc.

Not pathetic. You'll be surprised to know how many people feel the same way. It's one of the downfalls of writing fanfics. The enjoyment dies as you become more conscious and needy of receiving comments.

It's easier said that done, but write for yourself. Write and post fics as private just for you to read. It helped me feel better.

Dude - not all the Raka were poor slaves. There were Raka noble houses, and with the crazy nobility it was only a matter of time before the Raka took over. The prophecy, and the people believing in said prophecy, gave the Trickster the power he needed to get someone who had her mad skillz in place. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, Pierce deals with 'race issues' all the time. For example, in the Circle of Magic books where Daja is beaten up because she's a Trader. Or how Briar isn't as accepted in Emelan because they look like they are descended from Yanjing.

TL;DR: If you're going to diss one of her series of books biased on 'race issues', then you're going to have to diss all of them.

Wow - were you cut out of an award you thought you deserved, or what? I'm not saying that a lot of that popularity shit doesn't happen, but sometimes awards are justified in the giving, receiving, and bragging.
