If you really get into shows set in other countries it's pretty easy to transfer the love onto elements of the culture around them. What's wrong with that?

I'm from the UK and grew up with loads of American TV shows, so I always thought that things like calling chips fries, hanging around in shopping malls and even newspaper boys throwing papers into front gardens were all amazingly cool and exotic. I have no complaints if US fans of shows like Doctor Who think that red phone boxes are amazingly exotic, or start drinking tea to be more like (or just identify with) the British characters.
