I agree with this secret so much. Yes, there's a lot of sexism in fandom, but liking a female character is not enough to make you a great feminist. Nor is hating a character who happens to be female necessarily sexist.

I agree with you. She's really adorable, and pray that the bakuman fandom stays the way it is. I love the series for all that it is. And I wouldn't like seeing her bashed >

106-The canon is that he clearly wants her (no matter who he's getting handjobs from.). The dream is an on-screen canon pairing with some actual chemistry. The friendship doesn't prove the canon but it sure as hell makes the dream more appealing.

106) That's a special kind of lame and pathetic. But honestly, I don't get the pairing wars in Torchwood. The writers went out of their way to provide a playground where everyone can be easily shipped with everyone else, and there's buttloads of subtext for every pairing imaginable. Why does anyone feel they need to justify their damn ships with canon in this fandom? Given enough time, I'm sure it will become canon for an episode.

I'll have a go at describing it. A word to the curious who might read this, it's asphyxia because your brain is being starved of oxygen. Know exactly what the risks are before you decide whether or not you are willing to take them.

It's really hard to describe, like an orgasm is hard to describe to someone who has never had one, but not the same.

During it's like the mind has been opened up, the thoughts are all disjointed and random and make no sense when I'd think about it afterwards but during it all the thoughts made sense, they all felt like revelations. There was very little input from the outside world during, I used to do it listening to certain music tracks and it made them sound kind of trippy, exaggerated, as I started to asphyxiate. But most of the time I couldn't tell what I was listening to until I'd finished doing it and the oxygen returned to my brain.

Fic mostly irritates me because people write in descriptions during it and there's just no ability to process that kind of information. I might've taken in information from external stimuli but I'd be dammed if it made the tiniest bit of sense during. I mostly closed my eyes when I did it but I can't recall any visual images except for a few faces of people I knew who came up in my thoughts during. I guess it's like people say your life flashes before your eyes when your near to death, it feels like I lived a lifetime in those few seconds when my brain wasn't getting any oxygen (or maybe it's the rush of the oxygen back afterwards, I could never figure out which bit it was exactly).

I always found it slightly euphoric, it left me feeling calm and made everything seem quiet, mentally, not literally.

Physically it started immediately as a tingling and prickling across the skin and the lips and mouth and well, everywhere. It built with what felt like twitching and muscle spasms and increasing weakness. It wasn't physically painful in any way, it's damaging and very dangerous but done the way I did it it wasn't painful. And it isn't the same as breathplay as you can still breathe freely, okay so when the oxygen rushes back to the brain you'd probably be gasping anyway but there's no pain or compression of the windpipe. That is a different, dangerous kettle of fish.

The feeling is addictive and haunting. I've never had another experience that was comparable. It's like you go some place else for those few seconds. If I wasn't finally scared of the risk that it'd give me (more) eye damage, brain damage and/or a heart attack I'd probably still do it.

I always thought it was about unity - putting aside the race issues and working together to make the Copper Islands a better place. Aly, being the main character and with all her Connections (I wouldn't be surprised if somebody called her a Mary Sue, and I'd probably have a hard time arguing, but that's a whole other issue) is why she can help - not because she's white. That being said, it was still a writer who wrote it that way, but Aly was the only connection to the rest of Tortall. Maybe I'm being defensive, but I don't think you quite got the point.

But whenever you do work with race it's hard to use it without somebody pointing out things about it. However, if you'd like to elaborate your point, OP, I might have a better time replying.

I personally scratched my head at that secret, I didn't see anything racist about that book when I read it and still don't. In fact it seemed to be advocating a post-race society since the new Queen was half-Raka and intended to bridge the connections between the two groups. Plus it wasn't so much destiny bringing Aly there as a jerk of a God with an agenda that involved her getting enslaved and treated like crap. It's a classic "outsider comes in" scenario that doesn't necessarily have to do with race.

I know exactly what you mean, especially when the absolute SHIT that comprises 95% of my fandom gets a ton of rave comments. I do the same thing you do and comment on all the good stuff so people will not only feel appreciated, but learn my name and maybe click on and read/feedback my fics in return.

OP says, "THIS. It is so annoying to see mediocre/crappy fics get so much praise ((especially wanna-be avante garde bullshit fanfic)). I comment the same reason you do - give the author feedback and hope they'll check out my stuff!"
