How about we get our facts straight before we go around judging people for personal choices, hmm?

Like the fact that marijuana is NOT a drug. The only reason it's considered a drug is because the GOVERNMENT has slapped it with that little label. Scientifically, it's a vegetable.

And have you ever actually TRIED pot? If you don't want to smoke it, fine. No one thinks less of you for that. But when you go slinging around feeble-minded arguments when you CLEARLY don't know what the FUCK you're talking about? That tends to annoy people. So yeah, it is fucking close-minded of you and quite frankly, I feel sorry for you since obviously you believe everything the government tells you.

Yes. I smoke pot.

In conclusion, fuck you. Grow a brain.

Scientifically, it's a vegetable.

Although I'm pro-marijuana, I have to argue with you there. It is a drug. Anything that alters the chemical state of your body upon consumption (including most foods) is a drug by definition.

126. Aw, but it's funny! He's always been ~intense~, and he and the guy made up like an hour later, and he apologized to all of us too. I dunno, I expect it comes from being an ONTDer, but I just laughed it off. I still loves me some Senor Bale. (Besides, "BaleOut" is amazing.)
138. I like that. :) I'm the same way--when I really like a celeb, I want them to like me in return. It's a little nuts, but hey.
151. I never smoke, but I still laughed at this movie. It's not purely stoner humor; I think it works beyond that. I'd recommend it. ;) I agree that smoking's dumb, though.
153. HEE OMG, HE KNOWS ABOUT THAT?! Awesome. (I have this secret fantasy of being the one to break the news of Sparrington to Johnny. ...Is that dorky?)

107) While I don't porn ship them, I do manipulative/emotional/jealousy ship them. I imagine the autopilot obsessing about the captain and trying to keep him from interacting with anyone but itself. Watching him, nagging him unnecessarily, giving him small gifts to garner his appreciation... Oh how wrong I am.

111) Considering how I objectify men in my fics, I really can't blame Colton (or any other man) for finding women in sexually suggestive poses titillating. Hell, I find them hot. I guess I'm just a sexual creature. But anyway, I think you are setting the bar for the misogynist label pointlessly low. After all, if that picture is misogynist, how do you distinguish between someone who truly hates and abuses women from one who merely finds them sexually attractive?

118) Why should anyone care about your squicks? Honestly, I think they've kept themselves pretty well separated as is, and really don't deserve the whomping they get. It's no weirder a fetish than chibis.

126) This is why I strive to avoid knowing about the actors and writers I like. I don't want RL wrecking my fantasy.

131) It's rare for anyone to be noticed when they slip out of fandom. Fandom is ephemeral and has no memory, unless you are producing NOW no one remembers you. (This is why LJ's friending is so nice, I keep my friends even though they and I are in different fandoms.)

132) Blame the guys on that. We need more men in fandom, but if you wander out into the non-fandom wrelm, there's actually tons of femmeslash (written by, of course, by straight men and for straight men, but hey.) Not sure why guys don't seem as interested in doing fanwork. Maybe they are more self-conscious about shipping someone else's characters.

133) Me too (http://velvet-mace.livejournal.com/284308.html).

149) My version of feminism empowers women to be comfortable with their turn ons.

157) Hey it's normal. You get sated and want something different.

I like your version of their relationship. I seriously doubt Auto would be romantic in the traditional sense and kinda creepy and obsessive sounds much more his style of wooing someone.

I'm not sure I want to know what porn!shipping them would look like. It would be... I don't think there is a word in the English language to quite define what that would be.

151. So you think practically everyone you know on the internet is stupid as hell.

It's not close-minded to be anti-drugs, it is close-minded to think that everyone who uses any kind of recreational drug is stupid as hell. Also, weed isn't any more mentally destructive than alcohol, and it's not more physically destructive than tobacco. Do you feel that anyone who drinks alcohol recreationally is stupid is hell? Are tobacco smokers stupid as hell? Enough that you would refuse to see a movie that has drinking or tobacco smoking in it on principle?

It seems very arbitrary to me to think that way, considering how much is bad for your health (that people frequently do), so I would personally consider this secret to, yes, be close-minded. The 'hippishly liberal' comment makes the whole secret sound derogatory. The fact that you don't like drugs, want to do them, or be around people who do them is fine. But if you're voluntarily speaking to people who do do them, it's kind of your own fault, isn't it? And disregarding an actor/writer's work because they smoke pot is definitely close-minded. What they do in their spare time doesn't make their work bad, and it doesn't make the movies you don't want to see worthless. Just because you don't get enjoyment from it doesn't mean no one does, and shockingly, your individual enjoyment of a movie doesn't define its worth, nor does it mark the people who do enjoy it as being stupid, or hippies.

Re: 151.

(Anonymous) 2009-02-14 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Not the secret OP, but I wanted to comment. It's not that a film has drugs in it. It's movies with premisses that seem based on drugs. I do think less of people who drink, and while I would watch a movie with drinking in it (most any movie ever), I wouldn't watch one _based on_ drinking (Beerfest, for example).

(Anonymous) 2009-02-14 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain. :/ But apparently it's easier to just put two guys together to buttfuck than two girls together.

My theory is that people are too scared to write the emotional dynamic of two women together. It's probably some kind of... residual sexism where they think "OH WOMEN ARE SO EMOTIONAL, MEN DON'T SHOW EMOTION" and therefore it's easier for them to write two guys going at it because they'd just do it without thought.

I don't know.

I think you've just hit more or less how I feel about the series, anonymous. I loved season 1. I loved the conspiracies, I loved the heck out of it.

I liked Liam too, and they could have done so, so much more with him.

(And I didn't bother watching the series much past season 2 or 3.)

Re: 101

(Anonymous) 2009-02-14 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
The later seasons aren't all bad, they're not terrible. They just don't have the genius of season one. Except S5 which is too.... it's like how the Enterprise fans ignore the last episode as a bit of badfic perpetrated by TPTB. Season 5 is the same.

But 2-4 aren't HORRID. Just not season 1.

#151.

[identity profile] flouncinggeek.livejournal.com 2009-02-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
No, that is not closed-minded but it is if you simply judge people for their life-choices and the films they like without knowing anything else about them. Which is clearly the point of your secret anon, don't just tack on that last part to justify yourself.

I don't like Judd Apatow-produced comedies usually but I loved Pineapple Express, if for nothing else but the characters!! For God's sake, I have never smoked weed, don't ever plan to (there goes your theory) and have no issue with those who do as long as they don't force me into it. I don't think it should be legal, it's still a drug no matter what others say, but this film was really great. Get off your freakin' soap box.

tl;dr, and not sorry :)
