133. Gwen is made of a thousand kinds of awesome, despite the fact that she did get shoved to the side a lot during S1, she still had shining moments (my particular favourite is when she tells Arthur off for not eating the food at Ealdor, but she did have quite a few). I have faith that we'll see more development of her in the next season (I'm hoping for more about both her and Morgana, but mostly Gwen because she got so many fewer storylines. Even the storyline about her father was basically about Morgana and Uther in the end), but really we can only hope (and write fic...).

As to the fandom, I haven't seen those pockets, but I've heard about them, and I'm hoping that if they continue to exist they stay small, because Merlin is a story that is hinged on ALL of the characters. In all of the myths and legends, the women have strong rolls and, even though the show is basically a cracktastic AU of the legends, the writers and creators are still using that source material, which means the women will have important roles to play as the story continues.

Merlin is very much an ensemble show, despite it's name, and just knowing that there's already starting to be exasperation with Gwen irks me, and if the pockets do get bigger all we can really do is ignore them as best we can. I just hope Gwen gets to be kick ass in the next season because she deserves it (and she most definitely does not deserve fandom hate).

Stick with the fandom and hope that the pockets get smart (and, if all else fails, there's always gwenmorganabbc for all your Merlin Ladies needs).

157. If you get into the show because of Matt Smith you might find that you also enjoy the show itself, not just the pretty, and decide you want to watch older episodes. Even if you don't, what's it matter? As long as you enjoy the show.

133. Totally agreed! I haven't seen much Gwen-bashing myself; it's there but you have to be looking for it (or venture off-LJ).

I think Gwen IS developing as a character; she's not quite the same girl she was in the first episode, and she speaks her mind more. But it's so much quieter and more subtle and isn't shown as much as with the other three, and I hope that changes next season.

In any fandom where there's a big slash ship, the female characters tend to get shafted, unfortunately, but I think this fandom's been great so far. *crosses fingers that any Gwen-bashers stay in their corners*

The whole relationship was a complete mess, he can barely take care of himself (come on, he burned his foot on a George Foreman grill because he had it next to his bed lmao) and then she dumped herself into his life and he had to take care of her. He thought he loved her because he loves the idea of love and he's afraid to be alone, but it's obvious that their relationship was seriously dysfunctional and it did seem v abusive to me.

So yeah. Fuck that! I want him to get back together with Holly. Now that was a good match and could have turned into real love. I'm hoping she'll come back to him in the future.

Um. I love Torchwood. I love Jack/Ianto. But for one, that's a manip someone made. Don't be misleading to people who don't watch the show. And two, I don't think there has been enough canon information on the program to show exactly what kind of relationship Jack and Ianto have. It could be any level of relationship, but we really have no idea. That's great for me as a fanfic writer, and, well, as much as I adore Torchwood, "well-written" isn't a phrase I'd use about it in regards to any aspect of the show.

And, wow that is totally a manip. It's not like there aren't canon kissing scenes, even a canon sex scene (well, about to be sex, anyway), and you're pulling up a manip and playing it off as something in the show? That's just... wow.

I think it may be the wings, and the overall... lack of imagination I'm seeing. It's basically Ulquiorra with his hair down and batwings. Contrast with Szayel who grew pregnancy-tentacles and faaabulous nails. Or Nnoitra and four arms and a giant hole in the head, or Dordonii and his incredibly amusing balloon-pants, or Grimmjow turning into the kyoootest widdle glam-rocker kitty-cat ever. Even those filler-cars that just served to get iced by the vice-captains looked cooler in their transformations (or, well, Elephant-dude and Coolhorn did). It just feels so... lazy, to me.

104 : I watched this movie last night, it is so awesome ! I also realised not long ago that it was him (and that he does a very poor impression of a girl's voice...
