150. I'm so tired of the idea that sex devalues relationships. Yes, we know, friendships between men are such wonderful things. But some of us love relationships that evolve out of friendships. Seriously. Personally, I've only ever dated people who were my friends first, and I can't imagine doing it any other way. Consequently, it's my favourite thing to read about.

150- the slash goggles these days sort of annoys me too, although i too am a slasher. in my theory, there's 3 camps of obsessive slash fangirls:

-girls who can't stomach the idea of their TvBoyfriend favorite characters hooking up with other females because they're miserable and encouraged by the rest of fandom to take it out on other females (RIVALS!) in other words: low self esteem channeled through alpha bitch mentality.

-women whom genuinely find the concept of boysex to be the most arousing bestest thing ever. the reasons of this may vary but usually due to the eyecandy factor or being drawn to/preference of things that go against the status quo.

Well, add me to the pile of people saying that all mediums and art forms have their own strengths and weaknesses and they're all equal (except maybe music, which in my experience, has a greater ability to speak directly to my soul) but I do believe that comics are the most forgiving, most malleable medium which allows some really cool, crazycakes things to be done. Also, I recently read something that said that words-and-pictures are the best way to actually impart and retain information. So you are on to something.

117. Yes! So much word! I'm Catholic and while I've never had anyone in my face about it, anytime I see people bash Catholics anywhere I get so upset. I'm also pissed off when a person brings up something about their Christianity or whatever in passing and someone just has to make a stupid comment like, "Oh, I normally hate Christians but you're an exception because you're not shoving your religion down my throat/ being intolerant/ what-have-you." 150. I disagree with you, but this isn't a flame. Personally, I like relationships because I think they could work. I love the platonic relationship between Hawkeye and B.J. but adore the idea of a romantic relationship between Hawkeye and Trapper, and equally adore the animosity between Hawkeye and Frank (sorry for the M*A*S*H reference). Friendship, love, and loathing are all seperate entities. Can they come together? Sure. And most the time believably so. But they should all be liked and appreciated on their own, and most fans I know agree.

It's the same with het and femslash, from what I've seen, but to be fair it might depend on what circles you run in.

There is nothing wrong with Hetalia secrets, just as long as it isn't the usual "OMG I HATE IT", "OMG I JUDGE YOU IF YOU LIKE IT", "OMG I LOVE IT" and "OMG CRY MOAR HATERS!" and their variations that flooded the comm to begin with. A good chunk of them being made by trolls was also very likely. People on both sides ended up looking like complete nutjobs.

Hetalia is allowed secrets like any other fandom. Two is hardly over doing it.
