Well, it looks like we dodged a bullet with that one. It might The Big One of our times, but as big ones go it was pretty small. The ash levels are pretty low, most of the land mass lost was just tuff and tephra, and most of all the amount of sulphur rich gasses are tiny. Less even than a lot of much smaller volcanoes. The eruption didn't even last all that long. For all the noise, this was a pretty damp squib.

I’m glad! The last time I was in the South Pacific, there had been an eruption, and pumice was all over the beach. Obviously, no one could go on it. But that island wasn’t even hit with the worst of the ash. It was straight up damaging to so many communities. So I was very worried about the damage this might do! But it seems like it was minimal, so that’s wonderful news!

Yes, I saw the before and after pix and h o l y c r a p, they were amazing! Just the entire cone of the volcano, gone! And as we were under a tsunami advisory because of it (California coast), I'm beyond relieved that it wasn't too bad.

What do you mean by a "big one?" If you want something akin to the Year Without a Summer, those just don't happen often enough that every lifetime/generation/civilization/historical era gets one.

What are your top 10 animated movies and top 10 animated tv shows?

TV:
ATLA, Star Wars: Rebels, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Star Trek: Prodigy, Castlevania, Dragonriders (all the different shows), Dragon Prince, Powerpuff Girls (the original version), Samurai Jack, and Fairly odd Parents.

Movies:
Anastasia, Moana, Lion King, Up, Sleeping Beauty, Moana, Prince of Egypt, Tangled, all the How to Train Your Dragon movies, and The Incredibles.

I'm not sure I could name ten of either.

Beauty and the Beast, Sword in the Stone, Watership Down, Flight of Dragons, maybe Brave. That is pretty much it for movies.

Animated shows... Ulysses 31, He-Man 1980s, Ranma, Galaxy High, Evangelion, and Mister Benn. Oh, and Bananaman. I did better on animated shows, I guess.

I'm not a big fan of animation, I suppose.

Hrmmmmmmmmmm.....
Heavy Metal, Rock & Rule, Wizards, Lilo & Stitch, Sleeping Beauty.... That's about it. I don't really watch any series at all, just bits the Monstrous Bebe has shown me.

I only have one: Persona 4 the Animation.

I don't really like animation enough to rank 10 total, and almost everything I pick would be super standard boring stuff, so I'll just say that my personal favorite Ghibli movies are Porco Rosso and Castle of Cagliostro, which both rule

Not sure I could name 10 of either, but my favourites are probably…

I just love the emotive, weird, captivating aesthetics.

This is probably always changing. I have a lot especially for tv. I love animation a lot.

Movies: Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, The Plague Dogs, Lion King, Coco, Iron Giant, Lady and the Tramp, Secret of Nimh, and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Honorable Mention: Waltz with Bashir. Amazing film, extremely difficult to watch. This my Grave of Fireflies, in that I think it's amazing but never want to see it again.

TV: Wolf's Rain, Bojack Horseman, Steven Universe, Infinity Train, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, Natsume's Book of Friends, and The Last Airbender.

Nobody mentioned my two favorite animated movies ever. Yellow Submarine and Waking Life.

I have watched so little in the way of animated content since I was a kid that I definitely couldn’t find ten favorites to list. There might only be two animated properties that I’m genuinely passionate about: ATLA and Bojack Horseman.

Others I like, or remember liking a lot:

There are a few I keep meaning to watch, though. Cowboy Beebop and The Iron Giant spring immediately to mind. And I need to rewatch The Secret Of Nimh.

It has been months since this term burst onto the scene, and I'm still no closer to understanding WTF and NFT actually is. The more people explain how this message about how you own a message about something which is usually publicly available to everyone, the less sense it makes.

I've decided that NFT just means No Fucking Thanks. It is easier.

Is this one of those Crypto-currency terms?

Here's my understanding: The thing that is being owned is essentially the ID number of a bitcoin. The ID number is stored in the url of a picture (or message or whatever). The buyer, upon buying NFT, owns the bitcoin the number refers to.

...I think?

Either way, bitcoins are stupid, people who think they're actually buying the art rather than the url "token" are stupid, and anyone who thinks they're more intelligent for "understanding" crypto should learn how JC Penney credit cards work.
