What is with fandom recently, and where do they get off all of a sudden telling people what they should or shouldn't do/care about/read/discuss? If someone wants to treat it as srs bsns, what the fuck do you care? How does it impinge on your fun, even a little?

And furthermore, can someone PLEASE direct me to the fanfic that discusses ANY of those issues? Do people regularly interrupt your porn reading with PSAs about sexism and their thoughts on yaoi? Cause that's never happened to me. If I don't want to read meta, it's easy to avoid and I've never come across it in my kinkfic.

Last point: conflating kink preferences with anti-sexism is doing it wrong. So wrong. It's apples and oranges. Who cares what turns someone on in fic or not. But if you're a young girl and every woman you see on primetime TV is either a whore or disposable, then that does have an impact. If people want to discuss that, why would you stop them?

It does 'impinge on my fun' when all I can find in a fandom are bitch-fests about whether something is sexist or not, whether this pairing is disrespectful or not, whether this pairing is canon or not, and the like. For God's sake, is it really that hard to just enjoy or dislike something without going off on everyone who has a different opinion? I really hate it when everything --- fic, pictures, fandom itself --- becomes a mess of so-called fans telling each other how superior they are to the others because of whatever fandom preferences they have.

I have anxiety issues. Like, really badly. So I was in the library one day and a group of boys at the table opposite me were being extremely rowdy when the librarian was absent. I needed to get a book but it would mean passing them, and I was way too crippled with shyness to even will myself to go and get it. So I pretended to be him when I walked by them, like I was cool and confident (haha, even though Poland can be pretty shy himself ^^;) and when I walked passed them and they didn't bother me, it MADE me feel cool and confident.

At that moment, it helped me a lot when I couldn't find it in myself to be confident, and afterwards it gave me a boost. If that's lame to other people, so be it, but to me it's pretty awesome.

So yeah, I feel you! And Poland is so much love. (*Was literally looking at Poland fanart just before I came on here*) /fangirling this secret forever)

154: You know, I like the pairing, but geez you really shouldn't think like that. I've heard people say they don't have a lot of chemistry, which is something I somewhat agree with, so they could dislike them for that reason. Or, well, any other. Just...people have reasons for not liking ANY kind of pairing, so you shouldn't make such a serious generalize like that.

It's called Push. Basically it's about this drug which is supposed to make these people with abilities powers stronger but it kills them. Well, one girl survives, runs away to Hong Kong with the drug, and a bunch of other people with abilities who try to protect her, as patient zero, from the government branch that created the drug.

145 = Spending $200 on a doll is freakier to me because you can watch any anime for free via internets. So shelling out hundreds of dollars for tiny dolls that look vaguely like fandom people is pretty fucking ridiculous to me. I'm lucky if I blow $200 total at a 4-day con, and then I get a multitude of shit, manga, merch, art, etc. Though I realize not everyone is as conservative with their funds as me, and a lot of fans pay ridiculously high prices for mediocre merch.

120. A lot of people want Harley back with the Joker but I'm not one of them.

I think she's better off and he works better as a character on his own. It was cute for a while in the animated series but in the comics it just doesn't seem to work. How much he loves her is a matter of debate but I believe it was never as much as she loved/loves him. So yeah, I'd rather see her with Ivy.

The Joker likes to control people, and Harley has a dependency disorder (aka easy to control), which I think is the ONLY reason he kept her around. Like, maybe as eye candy, but it's not likely.

I liked Bela okay right up until that irritating end for her, not the least of which because I feel like "This character's life was entirely fucked over by their childhood sexual abuse!" is such a lousy, lazy and annoyingly sexist plot device. (Really, how many male characters do they do that to?)

But the flashbacks to her past turned me off her in a big way and just completely ruined every rewatch I've attempted of the episodes she's in. They didn't give us any indication she was learning everything she needed to to turn into the level of con woman she was before the demon made the deal with her, which means she managed in less than ten years to turn herself into a better thief than two characters who've been trained to con practically since birth so that they could go into the family business. I want to think that if the writer's strike hadn't gotten in the way we would have gotten more development than Bela Sue, the bestest prettiest thief in the whole wiiiide world.

That said, she's maybe the only female character I don't like on there, with the possible exception of the current version of Ruby, only because Genevieve Cortese still bothers me sometimes in the role. Hell, Jo even grew into the character I knew she could become and wanted to watch ... right before they got rid of her. *grumbles*

145. I sorta know what you mean, I've spent about 1000AUD on anime/manga/doujinshi related items and it's not that great. They mostly sit on my bookshelf collecting dust since I never seem to really reread the manga/watch the anime (haven't touched my E7 boxset) anymore, whereas I'd actually play with a BJD (I'm considering getting a Puki chuchu). I dunno, either one costs money so whatever makes you happy. For me, I think I'll keep my doujinshi habits.
