onetwenty. HARLEY IS MY GIRL. I LOVE HER TO BITS & PIECES.

120 OP

(Anonymous) 2009-03-22 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! There ought to be a "I love Harley Quinn" club or something. Is there such a thing?

154

[identity profile] minervafranz.livejournal.com 2009-03-22 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
No, I just don't ship them because I don't like their dynamic, and I don't think the actresses have good chemistry.

112. This deeply disturbs me.

121: Seconded. That video is indeed awesome.

125. he really does look 100x in the owl suit though..
128. LOL. also omg i love your little rorschach tears and ozzy sparkles. it's.. just making me giggle a lot lol.
132. :| lol don't talk like that.
140. "feel right"? a lot of those female characters have very strong personalities- most notably yoko. (also, me and my girlfriend have been considering cosplaying euphie and cornelia together. is it REALLY that important to cosplay as a (het) pairing?) not even going to mention how selfish a reason that is to want a boyfriend. why not just do it with a friend?
154. i must know who they are.

They're from Skins. It's a show from the UK.

158. On the one hand, I agree. In the end, fiction is fiction, and readers should be able to suspend reality to a certain extent. But on the other, writing as a medium - whether it's fiction or nonfiction - is ultimately a method for a writer to convey his or her thoughts and feelings. With fanfiction, I think, more leniency is needed because so many of the writers are in it for kink memes and gratification. The issue lies in how the reader interprets the story, and in an area like fanfiction where it's difficult to tell when a reader is writing seriously or just doing it for kicks, problems arise more easily.

This is in response to your view that because it's fiction, it shouldn't be taken seriously. I don't mean to put a label on writing or fanfiction created for entertainment purposes only; of course that's a big part of writing. But written works spark debate and new ideas all the time, so asking everyone to simply "cool it because it's not real" doesn't make sense to me.

121. Thanks for bringing that vid to my attention. You're right, it's super kick ass and empowering. :D

I agree. The art direction in Push blows me away, even if it is a really, really stupid movie. I love it, even though I ship Nick/Cassie, and I think Kira is the most boring character ever.

132: ...No, you're just talking like Rorschach. :P

(Anonymous) 2009-03-22 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
145 Yeah, but then there's different outfits, wigs, etc, all of them expensive. Plus some collectors get more than one doll. It can easily rival the price of an large collection of anime with just a few dolls. Plus those bjd can end up costing upwards of a $1,000. They are probably different levels of obsession, but I say, as long as it it's excess money that doesn't need to be spent on other things, what's the problem?

Re; 147

(Anonymous) 2009-03-22 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
What makes me LOL is the fact that when someone stirs up the wank-pot, everyone and their dog comes running to put in their 0.02, but when someone says something that's needed to have been said for so very long, everyone seems to ignore it.

WTF, fandom? And huzzah, OP!

I'll just leave this right here for the OP.

Don't you have any male friends? Couldn't you ask a male cosplayer to do this with you? This is not a good enough reason to date someone.

Gaspard Ulliel as... SIMON?

Alec I could see, and you never know what someone will do if you offer them enough money, but SIMON? RLY?

Unless this is not the series I think it is, so much wtf.

You are not alone.

Now, don't get me wrong, I liked them both, in fact I just got back from seeing Watchmen for the 2nd time, this time with my da' instead of with friends, and it's a bit more cohesive the second time, but no more enjoyable, whereas Push was even better the 2nd time than it was the first.

OMG THANK YOU for posting this secret! I'm in the process of working my way through AU Merlin fics. I might not have come across this one and that would have been a shame because even though I've only just started reading it IT'S BLOODY FANTASTIC!!! So I'm really glad that you included the link.

Re: 147

[identity profile] gear-34.livejournal.com 2009-03-22 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad this was said, and it's too bad more people haven't said it before. (Though I sort of want to give a cookie and a pat on the head to anyone who says Metalocalypse has a perfect fandom...it's new, and volatile, and definitely has its foibles.)

As far as I'm concerned, fandom is an interactive thing -- people who don't contribute don't really matter to me. Dramah0rz are useless. Anon dramah0rz even moreso. As long as they don't start shit that gets in the way of myself and my friends and the hard work we put into our fics, RPs and art, then they can just keep muttering in their corners. I think the number of thriving comms out there are a testament to how well people can come together.

Harley and Poison Ivy for the win.

128. I understand, I really do. Adrian Goode dazzled me in the movie too. I have no shame.

Despite me probably knowing who the OP is on this one, I still think it's so WRONG.

115 - You have no idea how happy seeing Shawn and Nastia here made me, even though I like Alicia/Nastia better. :P

Thankfully, not writed.

...wow, I'm a bitch when I'm sick. Still, as far as secrets go, the OP could have failed a lot harder than this.

Sadly I think there are many stories like that on the net... my poor bbs :(

118. I'm usually a slash shipper myself, but those two are so CUTE. You can't help shipping them! *going to go rewatch that movie and squee* Seriously, she was one of the reasons that throughout the peak of my younger-days slashing, I never hated the girls in the various fandoms except on their own merits...

129. That would be the only reason I would see Watchman, actually. Fascinating idea...

137. Hee, cute secret. I always liked him too, though not that way. ^^

141. You're not alone - and I assure you, it's been done. Fanfic, fanart - it exists. Trust me.

158. You're probably going to get yelled at for this - somewhat justly, because some issues are issues and need to be discussed (not all, but some) - but really? Seconded. So, so seconded. Fanfic is a space in which anyone can do anything; that's the POINT. Literature has a free speech qualification (in almost every case); so should fanfic. It's not always serious, damnit. <3 to the OP, even if you might be just trolling for comments. ^^

158 OP (late by how many weeks?)

(Anonymous) 2009-04-12 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I was serious. I've been wanting to get that off my chest for ages, and fandomsecrets is a good place to go to say something that could be potentially offensive and get you shouted at if you said it normally.

Thanks for the heart.

This former Snowe-hater gives this secret a very big WORD.

I think it's much easier to like him if you play Suikoden IV twice and actually SEE why he acts the way he does in the beginning. He seems pressured into acting more mature than he's ready to, and as a result he can't back up his boasting and his best friend has to take over. I don't really blame him for going crazy trying to redeem himself, when all he can do throughout the game is fail and fail again until he's floating on a log in rags. It's really hard to hate a character so pitiful. In fact, it's what makes him so interesting. He's not just a dick for the sake of being one. It's a little more complicated than that, but figures. How many lazy fanboys and girls take even two minutes to think "Hmmmmm" rather than "Diiiiick." Must everything always be laid out in black and white? Damn.

139. He's gay?
