108. I seem to recall Gaia Online has a pretty casual tavern-ish based RP board - I have fond memories of participating in a simple little HHGG thread some years back as Ford and Random. Haven't been there in ages, so it might be a total shithole now, I dunno.
A lot of message boards have RP areas of their forums too, so if you find a forum on a topic you're interested in, see what they have other than General and Fanwork boards. Sometimes the RP is based on the topic of the board, sometimes not. (Wonder if anyone from the Simpsons Fanwork Central boards remembers my utter noobdom? God I hope not.)
There's also some chat-based RPs here and there - way back when I was a noob on AOL, I found a tavern and played a raven who would hold mistletoe over peoples' heads for money. (My font was Papyrus, in purple. That's the noob part.) Depends on whether you're more interested in a message board or not though.
And I suppose I should also mention LJ's very own various dressing rooms, but if you want to play OCs, not all of them will take them.
As for characters with icy blue eyes and silver Volvos, or silver eyes and icy blue riding dragons - you get those all over. Try to find somewhere with a low degree of noob.

Snowe is my favorite IV-only (ignoring Rhapsodia/Tactics, since I haven't gotten to that yet) character and actually made it to my top 5 all-time favorite Suikoden character list. Probably less for deeper reasons and more just because he amused the crap out of me. And his pirate outfit. He's so special <3


I understand the annoyance at loving a character that's considered The Scrappy by the majority of fandom, but eh, people will hate what they hate and there's not much you can do about it aside from giving those characters extra love.

The amount of fandom-hate for him is outrageous sometimes. My roommate cosplays Snowe (I made her the vest, even, real leather and stuff) and you would not BELIEVE the fanboys who'd come up to her face and raaaaaaeg at her just because she was dressed like him.

I agree completely. Buying anime on DVD's and buying manga is a waste of money when you can just download it for free online anyway. I think it's merely the principle that it's ONE object for alot of money or LOTS for little amounts that add up.

I think the main difference is that doll collectors are less likely to go "omg need every volume of every series ever". I don't own more than two dozen manga and half a dozen DVDs, myself.

...actually, I should probably find Tuxedo Gin online then, because no way in hell am I going to try to find all whatever-ridiculous-number volumes IRL.

105. I love Snowe! And I really agree with you. I mean, i'll admit, there were parts in the middle where I really grew to dislike his character but then toward the end when most things started to come together, i kinda understood where he was coming from. So, even though in the middle, i'd sworn he'd never have a spot on my party, when I got him back in the end, he went right on my team. And I wouldn't have it nay other way. ^_^

145. There are extremes on both sides, really. I mean, I know I've spent a few thousands on anime myself over the last 6 years, but I don't have that much of it anymore. And I know a bunch of doll people who have more than one doll, and have spent well over $300 for each of them. I was looking into getting one myself at one point, but I just couldn't justify the costs.

I'm not going to get into disagreeing with the whole "wah, the Joker is mean and Ivy is so much better for Harley" thing - it's been done before and I don't like getting into wank.

I'll just say that I ship Joker/Harley and Ivy/Harley and I don't think that's contradictory. If push comes to shove I'd take JxHQ every time, but I still like I/H (and several other Harley-festuring pairings; there's a great Harley/Barbara Gordon fic I love to bits).

I just don't like the fact that just about every Harley/Non-Joker fic seems to come with a whole load of Joker-bashing. Fine maybe you need to set up why Harley isn't all over him for five minutes, but couldn't you just say he's in Arkham for a bit or something? It would make a change from "The Joker broke her arm for the fifth time and now >insert character< comforts her and makes her see the light about his evil, evil ways."
