118. I actually liked the movie ending a little better as well. It wrapped up a little more naturally, as it's supposed to for a movie. The comic was rather open-ended, but it seemed bizarre to me. I also liked that (as much as it made me cry) Dan saw Rorschach die, so it didn't seem so callous as it did when he just walked away to diddle with Laurie by the pool after Rorschach stormed out.

123. Ugh. I hate fans like this. Cut them some slack. There's plenty of movies I've watched without having read the source material, normally out of the fact that I don't have time on my hands for it. That being said, I've read the book beforehand, and I can't stand embittered purists that say things like this scaring potential fans off.

132. Somehow I saw that coming. Rorschach's just that breed of character fangirls go for: mentally ill, had a terrible and traumatic childhood, has a dark-minded philosophy, is violent, "edgy" and so on and so forth. Ledger Joker was similar and got a crazy fangirl following, and it didn't help that the trailer for Watchmen premiered while TDK was in theatres.

I like Rorschach as well, in all of his fancinating ugliness and homelessness. What can I say? I like middle-aged characters.
I'll admit I don't like the "bishifying" crap either. JEH was pretty good-looking in the movie (DEM BICEPS TINYNESS AND BLUE EYES GOD DAMN) but dragging the character into typical fangirl fandom BS really seems to irk me at times. It seems so superficial. But hey, whatever floats their boat, I guess.

[identity profile] kinosino.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
JEH is awesome, but Rorschach will always have brown eyes for me (HEY GUESS WHAT COLOR MY EYES ARE ._.).

106. I wonder if there's some kind of editorial decision to torture and/or maim your characters going on in Shonen Jump at the moment, or if it's all just a big coincidence. Or maybe they just DO have theme-months occasionally when they try and fit some obscure thing into their manga that month! This month: guro, next month: lemon soda etc.

112. And who are they?

113. Finding people who finish a game period is getting tougher these days. Everyone I know seem to play games and then abandom them halfway, what is up with that?

116. I just giggled at the phrase "Super American powers". Ruin it with great American pride, you.

135. Out of curiosity, is Kubos Spanish as hilarious as his Engrish? is it in fact Spangrish or is it proper Spanish?

139. ... One idea here: Mr Bean accidentally summoning dread Cthulhu through zany circumstances, whereupon Darth Vader trips in due to funky time-space continuum fuckery, whereby Mr Bean desperately try and cover everything up so that no responsibility will fall onto him. Columbo tries to make sense of the plot while at the same time defeating Cthulhu with his overwhelming sanity and deductionskills, but in the end Mr Bean saves the day and baffles everyone so much due to doing something INCREDIBLY silly that Cthulhu just evaporates and Darth Vader is punted through reality and brought back home, and Columbo ends the fic somehow with "Just one more question"?

I have no idea who the last guy is though, so I don't know how you could make him fit in there.

145. Men cosplay Suzaku? I have seen male Lelouch cosplayers, male Suzaku... not so much. That may be a hopeless dream in more ways than one, OP.

113.

[identity profile] sparky-ld.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...Why would you do that? o.o

I try to at least get to the credits if it's a game with post-credits content, and hopefully a good chunk of that, too. I mean, I paid money for this, may as well enjoy it until it falls over. Plus, I'm a story nut. It's more satisfying to get the ending yourself than to look it up on YT. YT is for checking lines.

...that said, there are a few games in my collection that I just haven't been able to beat yet despite giving it my best. Dark Samus...! *fistshake in Metroid Prime 2's direction*

114 - Just wondering-- how would having anal sex be OOC? I'm trying to come up with a scenario where a character in a gay relationship just wouldn't do it and we know this about them in canon, and just... failing. Unless it's a hygene issue/germaphobe character, I guess. D: Give me examples?

102.obvious pairing is obvious, but brings memories of reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaally weird Heavies I've buddy'd with as a Medic. The random comments of 'Don't worry baby, I'll take care of you' and the like over the mic although hilarious is also very creepy.

131: forgive me if this sounds grim, but be aware of the possibility that it's a fake. Most internets deaths, esp. of young people, are. It doesn't matter how nice or likeable the person was, or how little reason there might have been for them to throw a fakeout on you - some people are just that fucking illogical and you never know it from how they are on the surface. This is personal experience talking here.

153 - that sounds pretty saddening, esp. after six months of work, but I'd urge you to love those three comments as hard as hell. Try to find alternative places to post your work - even the Pit still has a few readers clinging to its husk. Also: do not sweat it. Really. Comments are validating but if they're your only source of validation when writing, you are so boned because you'll just end up with a bottomless hunger. I recently wrote a fic I was really proud of and had it get only three comments - though I'd grafted for a week, not six months! - and I wasn't upset because it was a piece of writing I could be happy with, fuck whether fandom liked it or not. Do you like what you wrote? Are you proud of it? If not, no one else will be able to satisfy you, and if you are, what the hell more do you need?

[identity profile] leonhart29.livejournal.com 2009-03-23 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
131 - no - it's not fake, it's very real.

I'm sorry you had to deal with a fake death before, but that's not the way it is all the time.

120 I feel that this doesn't need to be a secret—HIMYM fandom is pretty open to the alternative pairings, given the Lily/Barney and Robin/Marshall that's been floating around this year. But yeah, that kiss was pretty hot.

134 Yeah, good call not making yourself watch it. I did, and it was the WRONG DECISION. And hopefully after that finale they will stop talking about it.

137 Thumbs up on that, man.

139 Mr Bean? Talk about one of these things is not like the others.

152 His wife is totally hilarious actually. You should check out some old Daily Show of them.

153 Yeah, that's the thing with rarepairs, people bitch about the no fic but unless you get a group of people into the rarepair, they're not going to read it anyway, because they're too busy reading the main pairings. And it sucks. Treasure the three comments.

154 That's what [livejournal.com profile] 50books_poc and [livejournal.com profile] verb_noire are about, dude. Also, try to make your secrets a little more readable, plz.

112. Oooh, they should play sisters. >3 They LOOK like sisters.

118. The ending makes sense to me actually, whether it's from the comic or movie.
This is apparently a bad thing.

137. Ahh, he was awesome as Cedric. At one point I forgot about him and my friend decided to claim him. Then he played Edward. xD
She can have him. =P

149. I just heard of this now. It's not like he's dissing Broadway or anything, it's just not his thing.
(Besides, Christian Bale? Adored severely and despises musicals... including Newsies, so... yeah.)

n!s 4. Didn't I comment on this a week ago?

ocpsp 7. The way they portrayed Monica when she was younger... I think that's what started throwing me off the show. =/

And what's with the "One comment per secret please" thing? Another rule? Oh joy.

wow, two judgmental asswipes in a row

That's like saying, "I LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES ICE CREAM" or some shit. What the fuck does it matter to you? Did I rape your dog by not reading the goddamn comic first? I honestly wasn't interested. Did I kill your mother by playing WoW? You will disrespect someone over their interests, that are so trivial and inconsequential that you will go on to judge the entire person by it? You people are fucking morons. 122, I hope all your friends choose WoW over you, because you're a shitty friend.

To be fair, that's not exactly an "anime" style. Not a typical one, anyway. Unless you consider anything that deviates from their geometric cutout forms to be "anime."

Let people have their damn artistic license, geeze. (Except when it falls under 132's complaint, of course, because I agree with that sort of sentiment...)
