103. Is it that she is so flawlessly intelligent and evil at fourteen years of age? That does irk some people, I have seen.

106. We're really different, you and I. I usually don't take stands on the internet during wank, because I find so very few things on it worth getting riled up about. I will just sit there and watch the flames flare, roll my eyes, state my opinion and do nothing else. No involvement in an argument, no standing to someones defense or rushing to deride someone. I just don't feel like it.

But I don't think your thinking is wrong either. Perhaps what you did infuriated some, perhaps some think you just stirred up meaningless wank... but in my experience with the internet, the odds are good that someone who was unfairly bullied had you at their side, and that it meant something to them. So... thank you for the honesty, I suppose.

109. Shipping is rarely logical, OP. Some things you just click with, some things you don't.

111. Is Eversion a game?

133. Oh, that is just a stylish damn secret. Kudos, OP, as that is all I have to comment on since I am not a part of Top Gear-fandom.

151. No need for shame. Disney was on the good- nightmare inducing shit back in those days.

157. It being a way to explore and examine the concept of the everyday power struggles of man and woman that have and are still ongoing, projected onto a "safe" forum where such thoughts can be brought to light and developed without the risk of reproach amongst likeminded people, would be my spur of the moment half-assed armchair-psychologist response.

My internet-users response would be "The Internet is for porn and the power of anonymous just makes people bring out their biggest freak-ons".

158. Oooh. Chernabog. Chernabog IS.

160. Ah, Naruto. All in all... I'm in a pretty good place with it right now... mostly because it seems Kubo's gotten the "snail-pace fightitis" bug that was biting Kishi at the time of the Itachi-fight, so I have someone else to pour my dislike over.

But really, I can understand both you and your friends. Naruto has suffered from inconcistent quality and a number of flaws that have more and more come to light lately as it tries to develop it's themes, and I can understand people angrily lashing out because they thought something was really cool and as they go along they see the flaws and don't want to admit it could ever move them. But the theme of growing up and finding one's place in the world is still going strong and I can respect Kishi for at least sticking to that, and I can see how people would still find it a draw.

So all in all, I can feel both the haters and the lovers, because I know where both are coming from. You just... try and stay positive and try to find some place you can vent your fannish glee in. That usually helps even when RL is disapproving.

123.I COULD NOT AGREE WITH THIS SECRET ANY HARDER.
Even though I DO sort of dabble in Watchmen fandom.I scroll past a good 85% of anything Watchmen related.Love the gn,but the fandom isn't clicking.

I'm not about to get worried or beg for them to come back, but it definitely irritates me.Just because I know they're going to do the exact same thing when...say,Star Trek comes out.

Do not fret, fellow fandom-anon =D The trend seekers run off and the genuines will stick around. We've got a wonderful, strong fandom!

plus our movie's a fuckton better.

101. Remember that the internet is always here for you, no matter what - but don't assume you'll be alone. Take the chance and put yourself out there - you might be surprised (I was).

106. Bullshit-free fandoms do exist. Sometimes you just have to find the right pocket of a fandom. In any case, don't give up. Someone somewhere has to be thanking you, even silently, for refusing to stand idly by. In any case, I can never go against a person who stands up for what is right.

113. I feel that for some people the line blurs between "I want to share my interest with someone" and "I want my whole flist to be my OTP-shipping army".

145. I fear others will say this less kindly, but do try reading the original source material first.

147. I remember being really, really hurt for Tinkerbell.

150. I get your point but this secret made me throw up in my mouth a little. O.O

157. ORLY?

158. The Dark Crystal is the only Disney movie that could be considered scarier. I sort of miss it. (Edgy Disney? Nay!)

Re: CI, CVI, CXIII, CXLV, CXLVII, CL, CLVII, CLVIII

(Anonymous) 2009-03-25 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The Dark Crystal was Henson, not Disney. Disney may have distribution rights now, but it's not (nor was it ever) their film.

Were you perhaps thinking of The Black Cauldron, instead?

109. Pinky and the Brain are practically canon. They had a kid together - they're totally a couple.

128. I like it! I just don't get to watch it that often. And whenever Jaime opens his mouth I start laughing, because he's got the same voice actor that played Terry (of Batman Beyond) doing the exact same voice. But otherwise, I like it. It's got that great campy Adam West feel that is so lacking in Batman these days. The man should have a little bit of lightheartedness, otherwise he's just emo and brooding.

138. They're both child saviors, but John Connor can pull off angsty without being completely whiny.

145. DO NOT BE AFRAID, ANON. The movie really isn't that complex - neither is the comic. Sure, it makes you think, but it won't totally leave you in the dust. And don't be afraid of the fandom - if you see it and like it, you like it. Everyone else can just deal with it.

153. I don't understand how all of Who fandom seems to think you have to like just one companion, and hate the rest. I loved all three of the new companions; I don't get how that's such a bad thing.

[identity profile] jaclynhyde.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
111. Oh god, Eversion fic has to be the most terrifying thing ever.
119. I love the idea of Rorschach having a man-crush on the Comedian.
128. I only watched the Ted Kord episode, but the show looks absolutely adorable.
131. Now I'm imagining how awesome a Doctor Who/Pushing Daisies crossover would be.
137. I AM ASHAMED THAT I DO NOT RECOGNIZE HIM BY SIGHT. :(
145. I wouldn't know exactly, but I think the movie may be easier to understand if you read the comic first, just because of the greater detail it goes into. Read! Watch! Join the fandom!

122. Do you mean Seth/Breckin in general, or their characters in Heroes? Because, well, IA to either of those.

133. You win for a really well-made secret.

151. That part was SO scary! That was my first movie I ever saw in a theater so I may have cried, I can't remember. I do know though that when I was 4 and went on the Snow White ride in Disney World and that part came up it scared the shit out of me.

To be completely honest, I don't care if twihards are dumb enough to start smoking because of those picture. If anyone is dumb enough to smoke in this day and age with all the information about it's harmful effects, then they deserve what's coming to them.

The only thing that REALLY bugs me is the smoker's face the cast are bringing onto themselves. Such pretty people, such a waste.

133. I have nothing to say about what you wrote but I think the way you made the secret is awesome.

106. Activism is nice, but it's more effective when you don't play the righteous vigilante. People are more receptive when you're not pointing the finger and calling them down. How can you expect to change anything in your communities when nobody respects you because they think you're a self-righteous bitch?

I agree to an extent. The show has completely lost me this season, and if you had told me a year ago I would stop caring I'd have thought you were crazy.

For me, it's not so much that Sam going darkside is a bad storyline, it's that the execution stinks. I find myself always having to fill in the blanks as to what the hell's going on in his head, and I realized that it's not the show being ~mysterious~ as to his motivations, it's bad writing. The same goes for Dean's epic hell angst, which I find an unrelatable snooze fest. 40 tortuous years in hell makes his previous daddy and self worth issues seem completely trivial in comparison, doesn't it?

Maybe something has changed in the past 2 episodes I haven't seen, but I don't really want to be disappointed anymore. Maybe I'll catch up over the summer. In conclusion: I agree, but I think S4 is ruining the show in general, not just Sam. YMMV.

101. That's what the internet's for, bb! :) And I am very weird and antisocial, and I met someone very, very special in freshman year because we sat next to each other by chance and I noticed he was doodling V For Vendetta quotes in his notebook. We're living together next year. ;) Geeks have a special connection.

102. For real. The 'subtle' dirtiness is what makes the show awesome.

116. ...THAT'S HIM?! Gracious. He is pretty.

120. I completely agree. It also really pisses me off when people are unnecessarily bitchy in comments--I'm convinced they're only doing so because they know they'll (probably) never be confronted about it, since the OP will want to stay anonymous. It's cowardly. There's a nice way to say it.

122. WELL, YEAH. I swear. Kring and Co. throw us gold like this every so often just to apologize for fuckery like S2.

123. Movie-wise, I'd say TDK > Watchmen. But isn't it worse that a lot of so-called Batman fans only got on because of TDK (and maybe BB)?

127. Wow, that's scary. I'm sorry that happened to you. :\

143. Is that the one where he called 911 when changing his diaper? That made me fall on the floor. Brilliant. XD

145. Aw, see it! It's really good! And if you don't get it, just read the novel/themoviespoiler.com/Wikipedia. ;) But part of what makes the movie great is that it's complex yet accessible--it's definitely a movie for fans, I'd say, but it doesn't exclude everyone else. If you're OK with non-linear storytelling and having a basic working knowledge of American history (and, you know, like all that superhero shit), I think you're really enjoy it.

161. ME TOO. I'm in London now, and I'm leaving before the shows this summer. I'm so sad. D:

162. I had the opposite-ish reaction. I thought he made Rorschach really understandable and identifiable [but not in a woobie way, obvs], but I am now fairly terrified of JEH. That's a lot of rage, dude. And he's a black belt. Which is also hot. AAHHH I'M CONFLICTED.

Wow a Dark Angel secret. That takes me back. I don't know if you're referring to Ben or Alec but they were both pretty fucked up. Bens death actually made me cry and he was a serial killer.
A part of me still resents Jessica Alba for how she treated Jensen Ackles when they were on the show together but they got over it so I probably should as well.

127. I...I'm just going to come out and say it. I think the patterns on his face look like the patterns on a cow. I don't know who that character is, or what his story is (and in all seriousness I'm glad you have an awesome grandmother), but all I see is COW FACE. D:

I literally squee-ed when I scrolled down to this secret. (ROBIN! <3 :D)

But, yeah, I can see that. When I watch that film I am equally happy to re-experience feeling like a kid again, but also sad that I'm not really a kid again. And I'm also pretty depressed at how old Robin Williams has gotten since then (not to mention the heart problems he had recently ;_;). 1991 doesn't sound like a long time ago, but it was. :(

It's not that he's going darkside; it's that the way they're writing it is a total departure from his character. He's barely recognisable from earlier seasons. TBH I'm only still watching for Dean.
