Because we all know that women over thirty can't have interests.

Or, hell, apparently pets.

[identity profile] sarolynne.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
148, obviously.

101: LOL! That would be awesome.

106: I agree. Is it so hard to tag your secret? Maybe even mention it in the image itself? Especially if it's a "I which this fandom were bigger" secret.

125: No shit. Just because a character has two X chromosomes does NOT mean I have to like her.

128: Being an atheist doesn't mean you can't believe in "immaterial" things. Love is pretty "immaterial", and I believe in that. And hope, as well (I doubt I'd be alive if I didn't believe in that!). I could go on...
Yes, I know I'm jumping on just one line of the secret, but it kinda bugged me, is all.

153: Aw, Gaara! I know what you mean... you see his back story and, damn, you just wanna give him a big hug. And maybe some chocolate. Poor thing.

165: The Kaiba brothers! (o/~ "Kaiba babies/We make our dreams come tru~ue..." o/~). There are some fictional incest pairings I like (emphasis on "fictional"), but I think my biggest problem with pairing them is that, due to their circumstances, Seto is more of a father figure to Mokuba's than just an older brother. Sibling incest is one thing, but parental--or parental-figure--incest is another. Still, that's a personal preference, and if you like the pairing... well, I can certainly understand why; they are really cool together. ^_^

130.

[identity profile] saphron-girl.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm curious, why can't you ship Spock with anyone in a sexual way? Do you see him as an asexual character? I've always found his human heritage and repressed emotional side to be elements that make him even more fascinating in sexual situations.

123

[identity profile] kick-back-80s.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oohh yes... it makes me happy, too :D

[identity profile] eevee-blaze.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
159. In that case, it's probably for the best. If you're so involved with fandom that you consider yourself to have been living your life through a TV show, then it was probably an unhealthy relationship in the first place.

141. 146. 148. 164. not!secret 1.

[identity profile] kinosino.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
141. I fully expect links to 63!Jaime now. Internet, don't let me down.

146. Assuming you're a girl, OP... could be that without bits around that you know how function, you can't really get excited about it. Makes sense enough.

148. So thirty is the deadline to take up stamp collecting and aerobics, never watching or reading anything produced as part of popular culture again? Or are you just not supposed to talk about it, or maybe you want "old" people to GTFO your internets? What about people who have to make this stuff for a living - authors, writers, artists... In conclusion, in after "troooooooooooooooooooll".

164. You're thinking continents, dear. Countries are a sociopolitical thingy.

not!secret1. Don't kill me Adrian, I'm your only friend!

116. Smack yourself upside the head for me, OP. That wasn't good.

118. Every time I'm walking down the sidewalk and see someone walking straight at me, and I tell myself, "I will not move out of their way -- I will make them move out of my way," and at the last moment give in and move out of their way and want to kick myself....I think about this book. It's the only scene in it I remember, but goddamn, do I relate. I am a sick [wo]man; I am a spiteful [wo]man.

121. Oh God, not one of these secrets again. YOUR PRIORITIES, RETHINK THEM.

136. You know, I don't think this is anything to beat yourself up over, OP. For one thing, two very attractive people in a sexually charged scene of ambivalent morality is pretty much designed to make you feel a tingling in your nether regions despite yourself. That's what makes it such a powerful scene (this scene in this particular movie, and all scenes like it in other movies/books/TV series/etc.). If it were 100% good and pure and lovely, or 100% disgusting and wrong, it wouldn't affect you as much as it is now. Also, you know it's fiction and that in reality, the actors get along well and are good people. It's not like you're writing love letters to a serial killer or anything. :)

136 - Somewhat OT, but what you're describing here is exactly why I'm sickened by how rape and incompleted rape are portrayed in 99% of movies. Because there's is *nothing* fucking sexy about rape. It's disgusting how it's so often used for titilation.

Still.
Very close.

101. I don't fangirl them (like them though!), but that secret fills me with joy.

122. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH 90'S POP MUSIC. It cheers me up a lot sometimes when I'm down, because I was a 90's child and I remember so much I was fond of :) I don't know if that's why you like her music or whatever, but I still don't think your secret...needs to be a secret!

146. There's nothing wrong with that. Some things just make people uncomfortable. I mean..I do get annoyed when people are snobby prudes, but you don't come off as one, just someone who genuinely gets squeamish of boy/boy.

148. One of my COOLEST and KINDEST fandom friends is over 30. She has a family and owns a business so I guess that doesn't factor into your secret...but unless they are uptight nasty jerks, why the freakin hate?

*pants and starts getting teary*

That's my favorite book ever period. The narrator is the saddest, most beautiful character I have ever read. I was in a lit class one day and we were talking about something or another, and the teacher jokingly accused me of having sex with someone, to which I replied "I'm saving myself for the narrator from notes from underground".

I am hopelessly in love with him. ;-; I'm glad that someone else appreciates him. omuhguh.

Neat! In high school I was in love with Crime and Punishment's Raskolnikov (I even named him as the father of my egg baby in my Child Development class), and my best friend was in love first with Ivan in The Brothers Karamazov and then with the Prince in The Idiot.

Dostoevsky was onto something. :D

135. Well, in all technicality, it was Lucy Griffiths, not the writers. If you're talking about what I think you are. But I still feel your pain>_<

153. GAARA LOVE *Points to icon*

155.Don't feel bad; I saw the potential too. I wouldn't be surprised if someone wrote an AU fic with that plot device eventually.

I must admit I'm curious... I see people talking about fandoms that don't have any good female characters, and I'm totally baffled because I have yet to encounter a fandom where I didn't like at least one of the female characters or find them to have positive qualities. Am I just in the wrong fandoms or something? Where are these shows/books/movies/games/etc. that don't have a single good female character in them?

119. Thank you. As someone who loves that old penny dreadful, I will never understand how people can claim Erik and Christine's relationship as romantic. It was manipulative, abusive, and entirely fucked up. Was Erik a tragic figure? Yes. Did he deserve Christine? Hells no.

148. 29 years old WITH CATS. Sod off, you immature fucktard. Your loss.

Re: 119, 148

[identity profile] nirejseki.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
119. I love that book and agree that the relationship is not romantic in the least - in the book. ALW's version deliberately added in a romantic element for people to enjoy, and Erik is deliberately made more "interesting" in the musical for that exact reason, but the book's creepiness comes through quite strong. Some people focus on the creepy, others - perhaps less mature others, but not in any way evil - focus on the romantic elements put in by ALW, choosing the musical portrayal and their POV over the book.

Still, in my opinion, why does it matter to other people if some people choose to focus on the romantic elements? OP seems to get really up in arms about the whole thing, and is rather rude when stating their point. They don't even seem to really like Phantom, so I'm not sure what the point is...*shrug*

(Besides, the romantics are going to get their day soon. Abusive!Raoul and happy-ending!Christine/Erik AND American setting - coming soon, to a theatre near you, courtesy of ALW. God I hate him sometimes. Most of the time. Bah.)

Re: 133

Seriously. ED is a cesspool of immature hate-spewing bullies (the writers). It's not even witty or funny, it sure as hell is not remotely justified and it holds about as much value to the judgment of a person as a rotting piece of toast.

Don't be daft, OP. Form your own opinions.

I mean, if you really want to be taken seriously as an X-Men fan, the comics are deffinately the way to go, especially since they're about a billion times better than the movies. :) I don't mean to be rude or anything... just a recommendation.

157. I still maintain that the whole point of Romeo and Juliet was to show how effed up things get when kids go against their parents.

Also you don't want a Romeo, he freaking falls in love on a lark. (He was in love and brooding over Rosaline and then suddenly Juliet is the love of his life. I suspect he was a love!whore and Juliet was stupid enough to be the first girl to somewhat return his feelings, although whatever).
