I've recently been rewatching the show and I agree. In the later seasons, I care far more about Lorelai and Lain than Rory.

Though I tend to blame the writers more than the character who they changed and decided to make more of I'm not sure what, but not the Rory that I always liked.

Agreed. I think it has a lot to do with the writers and what I consider a massive notable decline in quality in the show during the later seasons.

Although I feel a bit more strongly, Rory being the only character I have ever, truly hated. For me it has to do a lot with how likeable she was in beginning and how she devolved into a spoiled brat who everyone inexplicable adored. :| Chilton-era Rory, where did you go?

Me, too!
I mean, some smut!fic is cool and all, but sometimes it seems like there's such an overwhelming focus on shipping and smut!fic in fandom (not just Watchmen, either!). Personally, I get a little intimidated (is that the right word?) since I'm not into shipping as much.

The thing that really sucks for me, is that after the movie in the Watchmen fandom there was actual discussion and thoughts and ideas that didn't focus on shipping and slash and porn. Now, it seems like it's all gone. =(

I don't really do much shipping. It's never interested me. Which is why I loved being able to have actual conversations. I thought this fandom was different. They're proving me wrong.

112. I personally haven't had a crush on a fictional character that's lasted longer than a couple months. All fans have them, and as long as you don't act like a tool and claim you "own" that character because you want to get in their pants, then I really don't see what the fuss is about. When did the light-hearted fun stop?

Also, yes, JEH's performance was one of my favorites in the film.

I do not, nor have I ever, watched the show, but I think the significance of the problems you list vary based on what you want and how important those things are to you - for me (and, I'd assume, the character) doing well academically is something that I value very highly and pride myself on, so getting a D would be, while not traumatic, very upsetting. And if I had one career that I had been dead set on and then someone told me (and especially if I particularly respected that person) that I wasn't cut out for that job, I'd be rather upset.

Actually, academics have always been very, very important to me. In early season I really sympathized with Rory a lot because I shared some of the same anxieties. That's why I was so surprised when I really started to hate her. I don't know if it's the way she interacts with other people or the fact that she never seems to gain any sort of coping skills, but she just filled me with rage. Maybe you have to see the show to get it.
