120. Aw, but it's Gaius! lol. Anyway, I doubt Nimueh's gone for good. She's crafty.

150. OMG I LOVE YOU FOR A VAMPIRE ACADEMY SECRET! I'm reading the third book right now!! I sort of ship Lissa/Rose, but I also happen to love Dimitri. He's fantastic And in my mind looks exactly like Dominic Purcell. I haven't gone looking for fic, though, 'cause I'm a bit afraid to...

112: I understand being attracted to the performance...I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I also don't mind people being attracted to the character, I just think it's a bit weird.

119: I'm going to ignore this because you OBVIOUSLY haven't read the original novel or Susan Kay's Phantom. If you had, you might think a bit differently, because believe it or not...CHRISTINE LOVES ERIK!

122: Aww, I ♥ Billie Piper. Her music is so uplifting.

Um...I haven't read the book in a while (a few years, so my memory is kinda rusty) but I don't remember Christine actually, you know, loving Erik in a romantic sense. Pity? Sure.

127 I seriously doubt that's enough to make someone kill themselves. For someone to commit suicide, they obviously have some personal and deep-seated psychological issues.

139 GOD no. No. Also WTF Gary Busey as the Comedian?!

142 Yesssss Gaius Baltar/Caprica Six end FTW!

148 How is that any better than being a married fangirl with cat(s)? Does getting married magically make you less of a loser? It didn't seem to make me any cooler. Seriously, single people have more fun. Especially single women. It's almost like my fucking social life ended the day I got married.

164 Except... again... you can't have Pangea without South America and Africa

166 Sometimes you need something fluffy to watch. Personally, I can't watch the original anymore because Dirk Benedict is such a penis. Too bad, because I really love the costumes.

[identity profile] trillianastra.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
114. [livejournal.com profile] bsg_pornbattle. It has, quite literally, all sorts... but I know there's some Mary/Eddie there.

[identity profile] jlh.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
106 I agree. I feel f!s should be half promotion, really.

125 I don't think a woman has to be kicking ass for me to like her. I don't think men do, either. But then again, I'm not really drawn to shows where kicking ass is the main activity, so there you go.

127 Did you see the documentary? Because having seen it, and what his wife had to say about it, I kinda doubt it.

133 Sometimes people are in it by chance. I used to be on the fandom history wiki merely because of my proximity to a wank—a wank that I didn't participate in. My entire entry seriously was that I shared a room at a con with someone. Also, some people are wanky, learn their lesson, and then move on to a quieter life. I know that I learned that I didn't want to be anywhere near wank ever again. So perhaps you shouldn't be so judgmental.

135 Honey that's what filters are for.

142 That is a great reason to be happy with the finale.

148 Nice comment from Case!
cleverthylacine: a cute little thylacine (love you bitch)

[personal profile] cleverthylacine 2009-03-30 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
125 As someone else with similar feelings, it's not about kicking ass. A lot of ass kicking female characters are created as shounen fanservice anyway. It's about whether or not the character exists for herself and is self-directed. "Love interest" characters are frequently created by writers using the following process: "what traits should the girl for character X have?", "cast an actress between 18 and 25 who is 'hott'", "don't give her any personality traits that will alienate our male 18-35 demographic", "ok, we're done".

That's not a character, that's a plot coupon. The male hero solves so many mysteries, or kicks x amount of ass, and he gets one of those as a reward. Or worse, the writers turn an existing female character who used to have a personality into one for him. Then "fandom feminists" start running off at the mouth about how women who don't like these characters OBVIOUSLY hate their vaginas.

148. So, having no life is ok when you're 20, but not when you're 30?

If Fandom (Or their hypothetical cat) makes them happier than interacting with people in real life, that's fine. They're not losers for pursuing what makes them happy.

145 & 152

[identity profile] hrw7743.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
145: Oh sweetie, you have some self-esteem issues, I think. Also, you might want to get some glasses. Freaking gorgeous? I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

117. If you ask me, classics are those books that English professors fanboy, no more and no less. Some of them are important from a historical perspective but like nails on chalkboards when it comes time to buckle down and read 'em.

148. What about the ones with doggies?

re 117

[identity profile] trinity-destler.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I have never encountered a classic which was not an extremely valuable read once I gave it due attention, both as a part of the lineage of literature and for me as a human being.

I mean, I don't like all of them, but there is a reason why they are still being read 200+ years on and it's not because The Man wants to make school painful.
