American culture sucks

Sometimes I really hate this country.

The fact that I'm actually feeling guilty that I'm going to need to take a second sick day is sad. And the fact that I know my office is going to want a doctor's note, which means dragging myself out of bed tomorrow for an unneeded appointment when I already have the antibiotic I need, is even sadder.

I'm American and I HATE the fact that here, you are your job. I'm on disability and I won't even tell people that anymore because I get "oh, you don't want to work, huh?" from people I just met. Fuckers who say that shit to me probably voted for Trump....
I also get judged bigtime for being an atheist. I'm just as ethical as anybody else, asshole.

It does, I completely agree. I'm sorry you are sick and dealing with office bullshit.

I haven't had a job that offered insurance in about 9 years, and it's been about 10 since I've been to a doctor. I've been having small health problems for the past 5 years or so that have built up to quite a lot and are impacting my life in a pretty significant way. I really should see a doctor but I'm avoiding it because of the cost. I hate that America by and large just doesn't care about people and is a big screw you to the health of its citizens.

Also American. I feel you, pal. Gotta spend money to get a doctor's excuse for a job that won't pay sick days and is the very reason you're being made to bring a doctor's excuse in the first place, basically punishing you financially, TWICE, for getting sick and missing work. But I guess anything else would be a communism, so. Usa, I suppose.

Maybe you can accidentally sneeze on your boss when you present the note to them. (Unless you have reason to believe they're not exercising petty power but rather stuck enforcing petty power moves from above.)

Ugh, my sympathy to you. I HATE sick policies like this. It feels like fucking high school. Also, around here, good luck getting into a doctor for a same day appointment that’s not an urgent care. Which is even MORE expensive.

Pretty sick. But my mom is making ham and green beans, and I'm excited about that. And my kitty has been keeping me company in spite of it being warm enough for her to have the porch time she usually loves. She's decided comforting her sick human is more important.

How do you feel about ao3 authors sharing your comments?

I recently was browsing an ao3 community and a common theme for posts was authors screencapping comments and sharing them. Sometimes to share joy about a comment that made them happy, sometimes to share what they thought were trolls, sometimes confusion.

My reaction was horror and it makes the anxiety around commenting on fic triple with the idea of the possibility of my comment being shared. But I am fully aware I have weird anxiety issues with every aspect of commenting, so it made me curious how others see this practice.
