I got my nails done for 4:20 today, and love them. Currently watching the MST3K of Manos the Hands of Fate and its still funny after all these years. I'm sipping a strawberry sparkling water that's pretty tasty.

Nothing like driving 10 miles while holding your car door closed manually because while trying to figure out while the latch was sticking you got it stuck in the locked position when it was still open. (Luckily during an extended stop at a light I realized how to at least get it opening and closing properly again but oy.)

My job functions in such a way that makes Monday holidays (like today) the bane of my existence. Tomorrow I’m going to walk in to an estimated quintuple the shitshow I left behind over the weekend. There’s only one other person who does my job, and they were supposed to be there today, but oh well, can’t argue with some federal acknowledgement nobody cares about. There are supposed to be more, though they wouldn’t be nearly enough anyway, but I recently found out they’ve been redirected to other tasks that no longer get done by the people paid to do them because those people get stuck covering other things, etc. We don’t have enough staff, nobody with the power to change that will listen, and I know this is unfair to say but I feel like I’m the one it’s all pushing down on more than anyone else. Against my better senses, I daydream about being in prison instead. And no, there’s no way for me to get a better job, for complicated reasons that I’m too tired to try to explain.

One of the guys in my gamer chat group is a jerk. I’d love to be able to give some creative descriptor but it’s just that simple. It started just with me and actually really hurt my feelings because he was basically trashing me for not being helpful enough.
For background, this chat is just to make it easy for players to partner up for the periodic co-op mode in our mobile game. But naturally we talk about other aspects of the game and when special events come out I’m one of the ones that help by doing it early and then sharing experience.

I spent in game currency for some extra resources and he tore into me about that’s not f2p (the whole rest of not just our chat but the FB group, subreddit, and Discord server consider it f2p because while you can buy the currency, you can also earn it in game. And the amount I spent on the extra resources was about how much a free to play player can earn in a few days. It’s a 30 day event so everyone who wants to complete the last stages buys the resources. And seasoned players like me (and the jerk) know it makes the biggest impact if you buy them at the beginning.

This all kicked off last Monday. He started getting dickish with a couple others starting midweek last week but one other who isn’t as active and had always been chill came into the chat when the jerk was being a jerk to me and now that other guy is being a dick to me, too.

The thing is, I’m better at this game than any of them. I don’t mean that to be a braggart. I’m better. And in the co-op mode, the partner with the most points gets a bonus. I play random matches and get my bonus and then change into my weakest build and play as an assist for my chat mates. I’m skilled enough to be able to make it through every run and make sure my partner gets the win.

We’ve been doing this since September and I’ve loved every second until the last week. I turned off notifications and haven’t been helping anyone. It’s soured the whole game for me and that’s what upsets me the most.

When equipment breaks at my work, it takes weeks, months, sometimes well over a year for it to get fixed. This drives me nuts. Love a lot of things about my job but this is the #1 worst problem.

Another work rant I suppose. Still feeling inadequate and incompetent as more stupid shit gets heaped on me. I don't know who decided I was going to be the contact for fucking everything but I didn't agree to it and I wish they'd pick someone else for it. I also hate that I didn't foresee how goddamn annoying certain processes were when it was just me, who gradually eased into it and had a method so I didn't mind it. But it's a bitch trying to share the process with others who never had to do it before, and probably put off duties as long as possible because of it. So now I either have to do everything myself again (which was fine back earlier on) or come up with a new process, which, y'know, good luck finding time for that shit when the rest of the shit continues piling on. I guess I'll bounce some ideas off of some folks tomorrow.

And on the topic of being the contact for everything, can people please fucking stop acting like I need to drop everything to talk to them when they won't even tell me anything up front? I have other shit to tend to. And goddamnit, stop demanding I call back. I fucking hate talking on the fucking phone. Because I'm always running into people I can't help but demand I help them, people I can't placate, don't know how to placate, don't know what to say to, don't know who to refer to, and even if I did, they demand I fix their problem. Seriously, I'm the worst fucking person to answer a phone. The absolute fucking worst. I can't handle that shit and frankly, I really don't want to. They literally took the best person from that position and decided the worst person should be in it.

So much of the drama relating to Stellar Blade could have been avoided if the developers had the courage to make Adam just as much of an exhibitionist as they did Eve. They could have been the ultimate stripper couple. But no. The world wasn't ready for such unfiltered and uncut magic.

Real tired of people complaining to me about various things then getting mad when I ask if they want my help with, or want me to do something about this issue.

I'm the mod of a mutual fan comm. I'm not your friend. If you message me, a person you never talk to casually and who is, again, Not Your Friend, to complain about something or someone in the community, I will assume it means you're talking to me about something that you want officially handled.

No, it is not ignoring your emotions to ask if you want something in particular done for you. No, it is not ignoring your feelings to not let you vent to a mod. No, I am not going to join you in trash talking random members of the comm. WTF.

If all you want to do is whine, vent to a friend. I am not your friend.

I have a friend with a shitty and extremely demanding job. I understand a power of a good vent and sunken cost fallacy, but ffs I am at the point of ignoring her. We told her that her only way is changing field TO ANYTHING or at least to try and change place of work. Yeah adult person can choose what they want and I know how hard changing things are. But she is jealous of every absolutely normal job things like not buying your own microwave or not getting your salary cut randomly.

When I'm going grocery shopping I let my household know where I'm going and if they have anything they'd like to add to my list. It really Butters My Toast when they put shit on the list that CLEARLY will not come from that grocery store. Like lavender tea from Costco or 10lbs of potatoes from Whole Foods. Like, FUCK OFF, this isn't that complicated!
