I don't particularly like it, but I do believe that in order to get modern technology that you need an industrial revolution. And in order to get an industrial revolution, you need at least two Empires full of all their associated colonial practices. You need motivation, competition, and a huge source of cheap materials and free labor in order to jumpstart it all. Like I say, I hate it but its true.

People who demand secrets of a certain type to be banned should be forced to make at least 5 different secrets to make up for it each week.

It DOES suck that the male protag in the Japan based Assassin's Creed is not Japanese. Male Asian characters are severely underrepresented in wester games and it reeks of racism (and kinda cultural appropriation) to choose this random black dude over a Japanese man as a protag. And no, the female kunoichi doesn't count as the Japanese representation because Asian women are not even remotely as underrepresented as Asian men on account of the massive fetishising going on.
They could have made Yasuke an important NPC, as they usually do with historical/inspired by historical people. But no, they chose to erase Japanese characters in a Japan based game.

I don't think Kabru Dungeon Meshi is a trans man, and I think some of the evidence people use for why he is subtextually trans actively erases or sidelines his textual struggles (discrimination due to an inborn physical trait, the complications of his interracial adoption by an elf, etc.) or ignores the canon setting in favor of trying to project modern trans issues onto him (he is a tall-man being raised by elves. Even if he was AFAB he'd probably be considered masculine compared to elf men. He sure as hell wouldn't be seen as weak by the (possibly matriarchal??) elves for being perceived as a girl.

Saddest story I've ever read is a Steve centric story called In Dreams. It's been deleted from the internet but I luckily downloaded a copy. Made me cry so hard.

I hardly ever cry at movies, TV, or books, but I've cried over tons of fics.

One of those ones that made me cry the most was a Johnlock fic called Make Whole What Has Been Smashed by gigantic, in which Sherlock experiences time backwards (i.e. his tomorrow is everyone else's yesterday).

There was also an absolutely phenomenal gen Supernatural fic called They Put Me In A Cage Full Of Lions by amerella/onceuponatown. It was set when Sam and Dean were kids and was from child Dean's perspective. It was a really, really sublime rumination on formative trauma and the things that shape us. It's one of my favorite fics to this day, and I've never even been in the SPN fandom.

A while ago, I read a Supernatural fic from Cas’s POV that really made me cry. Sadly, I can’t remember the name of it.

I KNOW I have but I can't remember off the top of my head.

I am an easy crier, though-- and it doesn't even have to be because something is sad/happy/cathartic, I'll tear up if a piece of writing is just really beautifully done.

One was Reconstruction by Bumblebeesknees, which has since been deleted. It was a Shadowhunters Male AU of the end of season 2 (when they broke up).

Not sure of this was necessary meant to make me cry but something about the way the Protagonist's depression was depicted towards the end just hit way too close to home.

How? I love reading fics. I bookmark and kudos them. But I have no clue how to comment on them. I don't have any deep thoughts to share. And writing "Good fic. Good grammar." seems silly as hell.

I am trying to finish up A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles and it is a struggle. Which is not the books fault. I am enjoying the book! And I only have about 100 pages left, but I just keep getting distracted. The majority of my brain is not about it right now.
