I took a day off and slept all day. I won't be as affected as others (ace white woman) but man it sucks.

Thanks for separating this out. I'm so fucking tired of hearing about this everywhere all the time. Let people have a break before the firehose of bullshit that will be the next 4 years.

Hey, so I was reading the thread on yesterday's post after it was frozen and someone commented that you don't live in the US. Is that true? Where do you live? (Just out of curiosity, I'm not trying to start any drama!)

Or the idiots who just *couldn't* bring it upon themselves to vote Kamala. To them I say: hope you like higher prices and taxes and watching things get worse for your marginalized friends. (Or I guess they won't be your friends anymore, you basically betrayed them. But at least you "voted" with your "conscience," eh?)

So, this sucks today. The sweet potato Hitler’s first term was bad enough when he didn’t understand, nor did anyone around him, how government worked. They’ve figured it out, and this is going to be awful for so many people.
All because the price of eggs is too high, right?

I honestly barely got work done. I'm terror, grief, and rage all at once. I'm giving myself a couple days to be not okay. Then I will get back to doing what I can for who I can.

I'm scared, though. Scared for this country. Scared for my state. Scared for my clients. Scared for the world.

The Hitler comparisons are becoming more and more real. Demonizing immigrants the way Hitler demonized Jewish people worked for Trump. Even once these four years are done, I'm scared for where we'll be.

I’m shocked. I knew they were close in the polls, but I thought Harris would pull ahead. That’s what I get for being optimistic for once. :/

Fortunately I had today off work already; spent a lot of time watching sitcoms and walking my dog. Made myself scarce because I have a QAnon neighbor who had a screaming fit about liberals killing babies yesterday, and I don’t even want to see him from a distance right now.

I'm angry and bitter more than anything. I'm not American but I was hoping that red mirage was exactly that - a mirage. My country will be affected by the orange turd.

I've been to Auschwitz and Mauthausen. I've seen graves in Sarajevo. I can't understand why people would choose fascism over human lives and decency.

Brett Heinz: “The economic stimulus prepared by Joe Biden in response to the COVID-19 pandemic was larger and more robust than those in most other nations, and it worked: our economy recovered faster, saw less unemployment, and even made serious progress against poverty during the brief window in which COVID-19 emergency benefits were in place . . .

“This is one of the greatest successes of Biden’s presidency, and he has been punished for it relentlessly. While the stimulus package’s contributions to inflation are often exaggerated in comparison to supply chain issues, there is no doubt that inflation is slightly higher than it would be had Biden not saved the US economy. Whatever the stimulus did add to inflation, it was more than worth it. But these election results will widely be read as a condemnation of responsible economic policymaking: from now on, whenever a President wants to respond to a recession aggressively, they will have advisors telling them not to, because when Biden did it the voters revolted.”

Tbh I'm reading people putting spins on history now, talking about all the flaws in Harris' campaign and its so frustrating because, no, it wasn't perfect but she was up against a felonious, rapist, racist, misogynistic asshole who has openly talked about being a dictator and stripping rights away.

She should have won because she believes in human rights and isn't a fucking criminal.

But somehow the fact her campaign wasn't perfect is the Bigger Issue.

I can't find the energy to care. I know I won't survive 4 (or more) years of Trumpism, the only thing I'm really worried about are the cats. One of them is chronically ill, who would take care of her besides me or my mother?

The hysteria and butthurt will die down when people start to see that nothing will really change. The main problem is they thought their groupthink prevailed, as it seems to on FS, in the gen pop and they all just got a short sharp zap in the balls and pussy from the cattle prod of reality. Next election, dial down the hectoring and moral superiority attacks and there might be a chance.

Most of the pre-election rhetoric was just scaremongering and will never come true, but I really do hope the one part which does is the destruction of the anti-copyright engine which is AO3. It won't, it doesn't really matter, but it'd be so hilarious if it did.

Reminder: They want us to be divided

(Anonymous) 2024-11-07 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
What was the first thing that happened when the results were announced?

Democrats and third parties pointing the finger at each other. Playing the blame game.

Don't be fooled. This is what any destroyer wants. Keep us fighting with each other so that they can move ahead with their evil plans.

For the record, there may be some truth in "some folks sat home and virtue signaled" or "some folks genuinely felt abandoned by the Democratic party" or (insert anything else here about who's to blame) but that isn't the whole truth. It's hard to show grace when we're so pissed off and heartbroken (and frankly, I'm one of the worst in doing this), but frustratingly enough, this is the time we need to show it to each other the most.
