I think that helps. I also think that if you think about how the people would actually talk in the bedroom, you sort of avoid awkward wording more (unless your characters are awkward, but then at least it's IC!)

I feel it's best to just let the boys speak forthemselves, mostly. Fangirls can assess for themselves how slashable they are. xD

Also, here's something I was just going to come back and add (I figure you won't mind me including it in my reply to you, rather than posting separately):

"From my side anyway, it was very easy for me to project and feel very strong feelings for Jesse as Mark and as Jesse. What’s wonderful is when you can blur that line in a safe way not in like you know a I’m-going-to-cheat-on-my-girlfriend with this man."

OH, ANDREW GARFIELD, HOW DO YOU EVEN EXIST? <333

[identity profile] tiger-pause.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, that's actually hilarious. Legit want to go and watch Mr. Bean now.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's more than that... it's that the combination of sounds does not sound appealing in that context.

[identity profile] rabidsamfan.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Please post to the comm! I'm never going to find your stories otherwise, and you might be writing the things I most want to read!

Aww anon, don't be afraid! Signal boosting is the first step :) We're a welcoming lot.

I agree that there is stigma in most Western art schools. There are some teachers within a school that are open-minded to it, from what I can recall in my own school.

However my comment was just on art in general. I should have clarified that, but I wouldn't rule out forever seeing anime in art. It is a pop culture influence after all.

6/10

Actually made me do a double take. Admirable.

if this is what works for you, go for it. I hope you've thought long and hard about yourself and your gender identity, rather than how hot Heero and Duo are together and how you wish you could be one of them. There's more to being trans* than yaoi fanboy-ing.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with the "it shouldn't be a requirement bit", adding that every time I've ended up shipping RPF, it's been because the actors' chemistry is as delightful to me as the characters they play (in different ways, obviously).

[identity profile] equius.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh holy shit, I didn't even notice Konata. Definitely sounds like the work of one of those two. I'd forgotten about them, lol.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
No, I don't think they would hang off your every crappy scribble if you're not that skilled. Many of the lauded 'scribbles' I see are done by very skilled artists who for one reason or another didn't make it into a finished piece. But if for example the movement, mood, and composition are good and conveyed well, and if the artist is already popular, people will probably love it even if it's obscenely sketchy.

I can't say whether I believe that J-fen are inherently better at drawing. I will say, however, that I notice fewer unskilled artists on Pixiv taglists than I do on dA searches. I don't think that J-fen is made of better artists, but rather that fewer unskilled artists are visible in J-fen.

I've done this with a mental visualization of Mark Hoppus (from Blink-182) since I was 12. 10 years. It's not every night or anything, but when my anxiety is really bad my little mental version of him always seems to soothe me. And yes, I recognize that it isn't real, like the OP. I used to think it was just me, so it's cool to get validation that others do it too.

yeah. love it in fic, reeeeeal uncomfortable with it in real life.

[identity profile] tekiclutch.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah - fandom ain't dead.

If anything, I got out of it and just started re-watching, and for giggles checked out the fandom. While some bits are still more active than others, there are loads of active sites and LJ-comms.

Which by the way, makes me a happy monkey. If you want new fandom friends, I'll bitch about Lollergates with you! :D

[identity profile] oflittlebrain.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
wait so people are reading the book thief for school now? THAT IS MY FAVORITE BOOK oh my god that's so cool

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I smoked my first blunt last night, now I'm a drug addict"

Shut the fuck up...

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
It might not be as many people as you think.

When you refer to transmen, are you talking about transitionals, or non-transitionals? Either way, how do you figure that there can only be so many transmen in fandom?

If it's a trend as you say, why not bisexuality, as well? There is no way to gauge how genuine or sincere someone's identification is; while I'm sure there are people who "put on" the identity because they think it's cool or whatever, it doesn't negate the existence of those who really feel that way.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
...Trek vs. Jedi? o.O

One might as well compare Babylon 5 and Cylons, because the equality there makes about as much sense.

It's definitely imprecise and misleading, but I think in a benign kind of way... people just don't want to have to go through the whole story, I think. Nor do they want people thrusting a plate of the the disliked food directly in their face. :)

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes you are.

First off, you're making huge assumptions about your friend's relationship, and basically looking down your nose at her because you assume she can't tell the difference between fiction and reality. She probably likes the guy for a whole variety of reasons, and just finds the fact that it's May-December a cute/hot bonus. Besides, you're also assuming that the relationship is going to end horribly based simply on age difference (if there're other bad signs, then that makes sense); fyi, I was in a May December relationship that began when I was two years underage, and it was a long-distance one to boot: a few years later, we're married and still as happy as ever. Just because of the age difference, it doesn't automatically make the relationship an unhealthy one.

Secondly, resenting someone because their genuine IRL trauma will put you off one of your kinks? That's not just selfish, that's fucked up. Just take this girl off your FList, because you clearly don't care about her that much if your taste in pairings is really more important than her psychological wellbeing.

what's so smashing about him

ummmmm he's the perfect boy? C:

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
If you can recognize that RL =/= fiction, then why would this ruin your enjoyment of this trope? There are dysfunctional RL relationships of all different sorts out there. Are you going to let them ruin all of your favorite shipping tropes?
