I'd love to see this and that's why I read fanfic. Some of it is really good too. Anyhoo I think if Jo were still around she'd fill those shoes really well save for the whole superpowerz thing.

He pushed his big erection into her pussy with a low groan. The poor cat died from the horrible tearing and blood loss. She never forgave him.

Yeah, I hate seeing "pussy" in porn too.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's a cute word! Tough cute is not something I would describe a vagina with.

[identity profile] goobbledigook.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
The way the tracts work, if a ugly person is saying something, you can bet it's no good. Look at the dad's nose and facial hair! he's totally dark sided, man.

[identity profile] wrestlingdog.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a great idea. I know I've come across Jane Ere and Conan Doyle fic before, ut I gota find more becase they were amazing.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It's still better than its equivalent in my native language - there, it's basically the same word as "shame" :/

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
IMO, it'd be creepier to write porn about them if you *did* know them personally.

op

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
i know how that feels. among my friends i'm the only one who can't stand her.
even those around me who usually share the same tastes in characters with me find her ADORABLE.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks for the rec

[identity profile] turkfox.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind it if they made the glasses small enough for my head, but the ones they have where I am mean I've got to lean my head right back just to stop them from sliding off completely and that's not the way you want to spend more than two hours.

wank only happens when one horde of fans villify the other and spite each other, and taking each other's opinions badly. both sides are always fueled with indignancy and labels the other of being a moron. i stay away from those things and don't read them.
this criticism is purely directed at characters alone, and is not meant to attack anyone who loves them. :)

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much this.
I almost feel guilty for liking it sometimes.
(but then I remember that it really is awesome and worth loving)

Although I kind of miss the days when finding something Homestuck related somewhere on the web was a pleasant and uncommon surprise. I feel like a douchey hipster when I say that the fandom was a lot better before it got uber mega popular.

But hey, dats da truth

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't watched the show since the first series, and haven't been involved with the fandom since then. Even back when the first series was on TV though there were some particular members of the Merlin lj comms that I avoided like the plague because they were always spouting something. They were in the minority, but they tended to be het shippers, which made the other saner and nicer het shippers look bad.

[identity profile] kizna1200.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't noticed this trend tbh, but I don't doubt that it exists.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a bad photoshop, you can see where his neck doesn't connect properly.

[identity profile] mistressxd.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goodness. Not sure whether I should sympathize or be ridiculously jealous. In any case, I don't think you're a terrible person. ;)

P.S. Good lord, he looks young in that photo! Where is that from?

Disagree to a point

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
People apply the same principle to RPF that they apply to normal fanfic. And if a canon has a best friends/buddy cop dynamic the principle is to see homoerotic subtext everywhere and write slash fic because of it.

While not all actors create a best friends facade for promotional work, a lot of them do. "X is the best friend I ever had, Y is such a great actor, we will never be separated". This is easy to slash for exactly the same reason as regular canon. Because that sort of interaction contains similar homoerotic elements even though not intentionally so. (Bromance is homoeroticism, no way to dice it or slice it otherwise. And bromance is the favorite male-male actor angle to cultivate during promotion when there are two or more de-facto leads.)

While the gay percentage is probably far beyond the average mean in drama schools and clubs that are the foundation of today's acting elite (the ones that get to play leads in movies and tv), I still believe that only the automatic assumption of your RPF ship is canon is the part that is taking it too far. Not the fic writing, not the wishing for it.

[identity profile] goobbledigook.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Amidst the guy who farts on his daughter's face and the dog that makes out with people, the gay baby is oh so gross.

Re: OP

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I just hate that EVERYONE had to become a senshi eventually. Looking at the artbook is a joke.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh I agree, Stars should never have existed. However, the fandom goes absolutely nuts for Stars, and I honestly could not tell you why.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but insisting that you absolutely know you hate it and won't try it is some sort of weird control thing you have going on. Even if you're pretty sure, why not give it a try, you may be wrong! What's the worst that could happen? The only reason you have not to try it is just to exercise control - to be stubbornly invested in the IDEA you don't like it, instead of at least trying it and find out if the idea even matches the reality. Is being right really THAT important to you?

Besides, it's not always going to be grandma's weird cooking which you're always pretty sure you don't like. This attitude is going to severely stunt your palate and make you an absolute pain to go out eating with once you get older. It would do you good to let go of this intense need to be absolutely right about how you know ahead of time foods you do and don't like, otherwise it could be really bad on your social life. Going out to eat is a major part of human social interaction, and everyone hates having to cater to that person who only eats french fries and chicken fingers. I have friends like you and honestly, they eventually get culled out from our 'going out and having fun eating' adventures.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh come on, every activist worth their salt knows that insults that go after the privileged group carry way less power than those attacking the oppressed and are deemed acceptable. It's not as offensive to call someone a cracker as it is to call someone a nigger. It'll never be too offensive to call someone a dick because it doesn't carry the same hateful weight as bitch or cunt.

[identity profile] kelincihutan.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Late to the party, but not only are the reviewers quite nice, but they're very nice even when they're being critical. I have so much fun with the Sherlock fandom, and I think you would too. Jump in.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno. I'm queer myself, but the BABY being gay kind of freaks me out because it's a goddamn BABY. It goes too much into creepy pedo territory, especially now that he's fairly mincing. And oh good he's into the dog too, which is going to make all those people who think the allowing gays around is a road to beastiality really have a think.
