Yes, an abused child who really shows no signs of abuse, psychological or otherwise and who a reader would probably never guess was abused if they hadn't been told by the author. Harry's abuse at the hands of the Dursley's barely plays into the story other than "his family members are selfish shitty people. Look how much better than them he is." So saying he's a victim of abuse like it has some serious bearing on his story, like we see him recovering from the trauma of his abuse, or like we even see him suffering any trauma at all as a result of his abuse is just silly. He's more well-adjusted that some of the people in the books who had normal childhoods.

And I know children are not adults. For one, children are generally smarter than adults when it comes to certain things. And Harry's not a child for every single book. He's a kid who grows up under extenuating circumstances in a world where childhood ends much earlier than it does for us.

+1 I don't really like them together. And a bi or gay Amy would be amazing because she does seem to crush on Penny quite a bit.

I also was a little surprised she didn't fall for Leonard after that episode where they had a lot of interaction, not because I expect the show to get them together seriously but I almost expected them to hook up.

And I don't ship Sheldon/Penny but I love their interactions and kind of miss them.

I don't mind minimalist fic, except when its about characters who just don't get enough love. I search for an obscure character and find one fic with a promising description. I read it in one minute and then find nothing else about the character. Not as annoying as finding only troll!fics for a certain character, but still disappointing, nonetheless.

I'll be honest, I sort of agree with you but sort of not. I don't have any problem with changing a character's sexuality in fiction - it's like genderbending, species-swapping, AU-ing, or any number of other things where writers can use their imagination and have fun. Pointing out that it's OOC is kind of dumb - people probably already know that.

I only have a problem with it if people start to claim that it fits with canon, because...no.

BUT - and this is a big but - very few characters (at least that I've seen) have explicitly defined their sexuality (or had it defined by his/her creator). And unless a character comes out and says "I am straight/gay/bi/whatever" it's not really OOC to assume that any are plausible.

ftr I don't have that problem, and I've also made the personal choice to save sex until marriage. But I find that statement to have about as much merit as saying that depression (which I HAVE suffered from) is "only in your mind" and just. no.

Yes, that's what I meant. Review anonymously, if it's allowed. If it isn't allowed, create a second account that has nothing to do with your name/nickname or anything that could possibly identify you (create an alternate email account under another name, if you can't hide your email in whatever service the fic is being hosted/reviewed at) and only use that to leave "unpopular" opinions. That way, your reputation isn't tarnished, but you can still speak up your mind.

Just be polite, don't flame, don't be condescending, and if the author still bashes you anyway, at least that way you'll know what that person is really like.
