Hahahaha...yes. Dead Or Alive syndrome ahoy! (In that, the hair had boxy collision with objects and often went THROUGH the character's limbs. Y'figure a game that big on aesthetics would...y'know.)

[identity profile] auri-mynonys.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST IDEA EVER

I CANNOT EVEN

YOU HAVE EXPLODED MY BRAIN

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Lol same! I write football (soccer) fic and I know that feeling!

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
There shouldn't be. :\

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
I fucking hate people who literalize the term "born that way." Like, there are lots of things to criticize about her, are you really going to go that far to just being stupid?

You are not born into a style. It's talking about sexuality.

Jesus. By that logic, is a queer hypocritical for singing born this way if they've dyed their hair? Switched styles somewhere between kindergarten and college? Give me a fucking break.

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
BASICALLY THIS.

I'll never understand why people want to normalize people who actually try to break out of the mold of things that have already been done. Warhol wouldn't be iconic if he didn't go over the top.

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I fucking lost it at "I just wrote the fic, bro."

[identity profile] mondaisenshi.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
If you'll indulge me, I have to ask for genuine curiosity's sake: If David, there, had gotten bored and decided to post ASCII breasts or vagina, would you consider this to be within the same realm of juvenile silliness as the rather large ASCII penis?

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
A+ rant. I can't even stand talking to other Snape fans anymore, being one who thinks his mean comments and rage problems are kind of integral to the character. (And also funny, because it's so over-the-top.)

[identity profile] veronica-rich.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
In person, I try to be civilized, but most of the people I deal with try to remain civilized too, so there you go. Online, it depends on the day - sometimes I get called a name and my reaction is simply a polite form of "bitch please" and don't retaliate in kind; other days, some idiot says something inflammatory and, well, I reply in kind.

Actually, I kind of think of FS and Fandom Wank (and a lot of other online places) as a way for people to vent the things they can't say IRL, or just generally vent. 3/4 of the things shouldn't be taken personally or replied to, probably, but they are. Ah well, life is such.

Re: I never sad that

Men are absolutely entitled to their opinions. However, said opinions may not be welcome if they voice them because, well, for beginners, those opinions may be misogynist in nature (as that person's obviously are). For another, men see sexism from a position of power, which puts them in a very different position from women who are experiencing sexism -- that is to say, men are unwelcome both because they have power and privilege here, and because they are not the ones experiencing sexism, and having someone talk down to you about what ~real equality~ is, what constitutes sexism, and how feminists should behave when they have never experienced real sexism, when they have no idea what it's like to be a woman in this society/culture? It gets old fast.

Men can have their opinions, but they don't get the right to make their opinions more important than those of the women who actually live with and experience sexism every day of their lives. And they sure as hell do not get to dictate feminism to women.

Er... what makes me an asshole? The part where I don't tolerate misogyny, or the part where I give as good as I get when insults start getting hurled around the schoolyard?

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
It probably has something to do with the fact that I dared to insult a man. I mean, god forbid I call out a misogynistic douchebag.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Wait a minute here-- you're entitled to watch whatever turns you on, but what's with assuming that someone must be bi to enjoy straight porn? That's just not the case. In fact, that's one of the most bizarre assumptions I've ever heard. Do you think all those men watch women getting fucked because they love big, juicy dicks?

[identity profile] luindilwen.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
OMG YES

[identity profile] charliequinn.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
OMG Is that Vyse in your icon?

Re: I never sad that

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
okay, put aside the 'poor me i'm going to be roughly harangued for not agreeing with the hive mind' mentality and posturing and think about this for a second

why exactly should men's opinions be given much attention in feminist discussions? feminism is about combatting the patriarchy, getting rid of male privilege, and empowering women. why should men's thoughts about women - especially misogynist, whiny "omg double standards D:" ones like that of davidshephard here - be given value in discussions of this sort?

sure, men can have opinions about feminism - no one's suggesting that these should be disallowed - but often it's not appropriate to bring them up. especially when the person expounding on the evils of 'feminazis' clearly knows nothing about feminism or misogyny at all.

[identity profile] that-douchebag.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
we can't have both, right?

[identity profile] trinity-destler.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
And orientation has what to do with shipping...?

[identity profile] battymadam.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
I was introduced to these books through RP, oddly enough. I only read the first one but I'd be super interested in a movie or whatever.

[identity profile] rattyrayvn.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
To clarify, at least the way I'd use the word:

A normal person making an effort might produce a music video heavy on the symbolism because it's appropriate to the song, represents something important to them and maybe even tells a story. A try-hard goes heavy on the symbolism simply to appear artistic, and the result is largely irrelevant to anything ever, as well as pretentious.

Where Lady Gaga fits into this depends on your opinion of her.

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god.

YES.

I have no idea how I never thought of this before. YES FOREVER. <3

(Anonymous) 2011-10-24 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
My point was not that the children shouldn't be killed off simply because they're children. My point, if you had read my comment correctly, was that people shouldn't WANT the kids to die because they THINK they're useless. Most children wouldn't know how to kill zombies or help bandage wounds or leave a trail if they got separated from their group unless they were TAUGHT how to do those things. Sophia and Carl clearly haven't been, so the fandom should stop bitching about how they don't 'contribute' anything to the group and should therefore be killed off. As far as I can tell, Lori + Carol haven't contributed much to the group's survival and they're ADULTS, so why should they get a pass while the fandom cheers for the kids to die?

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
YES. I love Skies of Arcadia SO MUCH ;U;

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
BINGO. This is..."inventive", par example: http://www.gamekyo.com/Webmasters/Images/57321020070413_124243_0_big.jpg

IT'S ALSO TERRIBLE.
