If the Lola in the new cartoon had been a 100% new character, her character wouldn't bother me at all. But she was so awesomely badass in Space Jam and ... this is such a complete 180 of a character.

Agreed. I think that's why you often see secrets/comments here about people being surprised to be having such a great experience in a fandom that they've only just entered but is well-established. Because there are so many people falling over themselves to talk about how nonstop batshit crazy the Supernatural/Glee/My Little Pony/whatever fandom is and how above it they are, that people get this warped idea of those fandoms and think there are no safe spaces or fun communities to hang out in.

Not a huge fan either. I liked her in Space Jam because she actually seemed to be a decent character. New!Lola seems like a neurotic female stereotype, and I'm just really not into that, though a few episodes did make me laugh, gotta admit. idk, I feel like I shouldn't mind, because all the characters are cliches, but Lola hits kinda hard.

My latest experience with this is on Tumblr, where somebody keeps posting long rants about how awful bashing is, whilst simultaneously throwing fits if people don't tag their posts correctly so Tumblr Savior can save them from having to see the dude they hate because he gets in the way of their OTP. It's so frustrating when somebody waxes lyrical about how they're so above the fandom or the show itself or even the actual concept of bashing, and yet they can't keep their petty hatred from spewing all over the place. :(

Which reminds me about a book (Fiction) I read once, about this woman with OCD who got convinced to get medication and therapy to "fix" her problem completely and it worked except she got fat and depressed until she had this big breakdown and started counting again (I think 10 was the number she fixated on) in the end she figured out how to keep her OCD in control but not take all of her obsessions away.
