2- there is not enough love for your secret. It is adorable and awesome. AWESOMDORABLE.

25- Dude, that sucks hardcore. I like guro as an artistic thing, but I admit I can't quite understand the sex thing. Ah well... long as you're not actually doing any of that shit to someone, I figure there's not much to be done. (Though try telling the rest of the world that. :/ )

25. a)You need therapy, b)you shouldn't save your secrets to your regular, public photobucket, seriously.

I know, right? The moment you mentioned that I had to see who it was.

Not so anonymous now are they? XD

#4 is encouraging! I'm always on the fence about AU fic because 90% of the time it ends up being "BUT WHAT IF THEY WERE ALL HIGH SCHOOL KIDS?"

And yet, here I am, carefully planning how things would be different if episode 08 happened differently. lol and all that.

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)

Yeah, that whole high school thing is why so many people usually think they suck, when I don't even considering that an AU.

I love you for wanting to write AU with little plot changes that alter things.

[identity profile] climbatize.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
4. IAWTS. I don't get why people always start freaking out at AUs and non-Sue OCs and non-canon pairings... some of the best fic I've ever read falls into those categories. ♥

10. I know you, right? D: That's so sad, though.

"I don't need some boring retail job for losers..."

Pshaw! They will if they want to eat. I'm in art college and am desperately looking for a retail job. Why? Because I need the money.

It ain't that easy to burst into the biz.

14. It's fanart. XD They're characters from Naruto.

4. *salutes*

5. IAWTS. (The reviews were hilarious--lots and lots of people trying to figure out a smart-sounding critically distant way of saying I Liked It Because There Were So Many Giant Robots and Explosions. (Those who at least came out and admitted they liked it, that is. ^^))

16. You must stop worrying and learn to love Rule 34.

I think the person was talking about how they've been... kind of apart lately. Teppei's solo album and Wentz's single and the general feeling that they're not working together anymore...

;_; Wentz, go back to your boyfriend.

4. I love wacky non-canon things. I even enjoy many pairings that have never or rarely spoken to each other in canon. (Yuffie/Kairi and Seifer/Namine are my currents.) But I draw the line at totally random crap, such as characters who are canonically serious and dedicated to their work suddenly becoming fluffy with random character they never met, cooing about how that person is their world

That's where I say, wtf CANON??

I love AU and I love what-if. I love creativity! I don't love complete disregard of the source material and bastardization of characters. :\ GTFO. Write crappy origfic instead of crappy "fanfic" about characters with no relation to their canon versions, so it's like origfic with fandom names pastede on yay.

But even though I wield canon as a weapon, the worst of all are the fans who insist "MY pairing is canon!!" like that makes them better than the rest of fandom -- and it isn't canon, so their insistences just make them sound desperate. Your pairing isn't canon. It's okay. Just get off your high horse and you'll see that the ground is safe to stand on.

6. I feel your pain. ;_; This pairing would have been really cute, but it feels weird to ship them now that I know that he was supposed to be gay and they "rewrote" him straight under pressure.

11. I want to make video games, but I sure as hell am not going to live in my mom's basement and starve for ten years while I do it. Welcome to the real world, where you work for a living, and do what you love on the side, waiting for the day when you can make a living doing what you love.

22. Well, rep is important, because it measure a lot of-- I kinda do too.

Scryers sux lawl.

23. Conventions are SO overrated.

I thought it was funny so I saved it, but when I went back to comment it was broken. I get fic ideas while listening to disco... which is probably worse.

[identity profile] cybersky.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
2. Aww, cute plushie! ♥

4. I respect canon and all, but what-if scenarios are awesome. I wish my fandoms had more good what-if scenario fics. :D

#2

[identity profile] greeneyedlady.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand that. I used to have to look away from the posters on my walls while getting dressed because it felt like the characters were watching me.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-08 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
#17: If you like him that much you could at least spell his name right. It's Lecter, not Lector.

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
4. I have no problem with AU. In fact, I enjoy it quite a bit...when it's well done. I do, however, have problems with it when the author uses it as an excuse to make the characters as OOC as possible, or when they have no grasp of the actual pre-established canon. AU is awesome, but if someone hasn't played the game or seen the movie/anime/television show/whatever or read the book/comic book/manga/whatever, I really don't think they have any business writing it.

6. I know exactly how you feel. ;_;

10. Oh gosh. That sucks. I'm so, so sorry.

19. That rules. XD

[identity profile] icemilk.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)

4.

7. Yeah, I can only imagine that the majority of fans are like that one guy that shows up on Nny's doorstep and proclaims to have been following his work. That was probably one of my favorite storylines.

14. OH GOD IT BURNS KILL IT WITH FIRE eegghh this is why I normally keep away from SasuNaru fandom eugh.

THERE'S NO GULLIBLE IN THE DICTIONARY

(Anonymous) 2007-07-08 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
10. I don't fucking believe you.

It kind of bothers me how many people apparently do. This community seems to have an ongoing problem with a huge number of the members swallowing ludicrous stories from anonymous sources whole and then attacking anyone who disagres.

But, um, anyway, you're either a huge liar or you have an extremely self-centered and tastelessly-fonted grieving process.

Re: THERE'S NO GULLIBLE IN THE DICTIONARY

[identity profile] icemilk.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
On the one hand, everyone grieves in very different ways. On the other hand, I do agree that I often find a lot of those kinds of secrets hard to believe.

On the third hand (what wait my secret is that I have three hands believe it) there's probably no harm done in giving people the benefit of the doubt.

11. There is absolutely not reasoning with people like this. If she's willing to throw away a friendship over her "career", then it shouldn't be much of a surprise. Many writers/artists do a ton of things before and even after they have success in what they "love", but they make many sacrifices for what they love and that can easily include family, friends, and jobs/career. If she's sure that she'll "make it", then maybe she will. If not, then maybe she'll realize that she needs to do something else first while doing what it takes to "keep her dreams alive". However, are you sure she really wants to be a writer/artist or does she simply want a "cushy" job with a supposedly easy lifestyle? Writers are self-employed and they can do their work as they see fit, but like I said, they pay a price for it.

I stopped watching after most of the second season. Without Hector the magic was gone for me (and I didn't even like him that much), but as soon as I found out pretty much all of the originial cast left I didn't have the heart to watch any of the other seasons.

1. Do you know, I've actually had the exact same thing happen to me ~ I was looking at renames about a year ago, and I saw one I wanted and posted about it. The next day or so, BAM. It's gone.

A couple of months later, I realize that it was someone from an rp I used to be in, and a total asshole at that. :')

Protip: Don't post renames if you really want them, guys!

Also, I think it would be HILARIOUS if you're the one who took that rename. Though, judging from the fact that she had no grammar and spelling skills, and you actually have some, this seems unlikely.

[identity profile] wtf.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I grabbed this one as soon as a friend noticed it during the first purge. (He didn't want it, so I wasn't being a douche).

I am SO happy I did, too. Completely worth the $15. :3
