Ships that made you go wtf but you like it anyway

SGA Bates/Kavanagh.

My friend sent me SGA DVDs so I could get caught up before the third season started airing. I think she was mightily disappointed that I started writing Bates/Kavanagh (which IDK where the fuck that came from really) and Elizabeth gen instead of immediately jumping on the McShep bandwagon.

I was going to ask if they ever actually had a scene together but then I remembered that Lorne/Parrish is another pairing in that fandom so it's not like it matters, right?

My SO and I play the "crazy ships" game with the rule of "make it work plausibly" all the time. So, not many ships cause me to WTF, period.

These pairings were suprising to me (not to the level of WTFery), but I like them:

1.) There's like one fic featuring Chiana (Farscape) / Quark (Star Trek: DS9) in existence, but now I ship it hard.
2.) Tintin/Haddock. I never though about as a kid, but as an adult I ship it.
3.) Bones/Chekov ('09). Read a good fic featuring this pairing.
4.) Kay/Jay (MiB). Thanks third MiB movie. I went in to the movie without my googles and somehow came out shipping it anyway.

Kakashi/Iruka. I know. I KNOW. I don't even watch or read Naruto anymore, but sometimes out of nowhere I'll get the urge to read fic about them.

They are two of my favorite characters in the series, so...maybe I just like it because it's an easy way to get fic centered on both of their characters.

And also I love love the idea of Cap/Thor. I've only read about two fics of the pairing (don't ask me which ones, I have no idea...sorry) but man in my head they are perfect together. IDK why.

Clint/Coulson from the Marvel movieverse. It made me wtf all over the place when I first heard of it, but somehow it wormed itself into my brain via all the surprisingly high-caliber fic and just makes sense.

I've got a bunch of them for Marvel:
- Storm/Thor is my crack OTP, and the best thing about it is it's canon! Well, it's canon in the Marvel Adventures universe (and I prefer the Marvel Adventures universe to Earth-616, since the latter is so fucked up at the moment).
- Speaking of semi-canon ships: Tony Stark and the evil sentient Iron Man armour (a.k.a. Tony's abusive boyfriend).
- Psylocke's miniseries made me ship Dazzler/Psylocke. Sadly, I have yet to find any fic.
- Also, Spider-Man/Daredevil. Because why the hell not.

And for Hetalia (yeah, this fandom's practically a breeding ground for WTFery): America/South Italy. IDK if they've ever had any significant interaction in canon, but I don't give a fuck. I read an awesome fanfic of it once, and then I was like "FUCK YEAH, NEW OTP!"

Dante/Credo (Devil May Cry). Shanks/Mihawk (One Piece). Mostly thanks to fanartists so good they make a baseless pairing seem like the best idea there ever ever was.

I ship Tom from (500) Days of Summer and Bliss from Whip It. I first started to ship it because it's Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page, and I ship their characters (Arthur and Ariadne) in Inception, and I started to find Tom/Bliss gifsets. But I honestly began to ship it.

Recently I watched the movies fairly close together, and the two of them would work well together, and their stories match up surprisingly well. Both have romantic interests that, for reasons, don't work out (though the romance is MUCH bigger in (500) Days of Summer as opposed to Whip It). Both are initially stuck doing things they hate (Tom writing greeting cards, Bliss doing pageants) and both want to break out to find their dreams (Tom to become an architect, Bliss through roller derby).

While Bliss is stuck in a small town in Texas, ultimately she's not really satisfied staying at home. At the end of (500) Days of Summer, Tom finally gets over Summer and meets "Autumn," a sign he's moved on. In my headcanon, instead of meeting Autumn, Bliss is who he finds once he's moved on from Summer. So really, the ending bit of the movie still makes sense.

...and this is me, way overthinking this crossover pairing that I ship way too hard.

Maybe not quite as cracky as some of the others mentioned, but they were unexpected to me...

My best friend just discovered the show GCB on DVD and persuaded me to watch it. It's not really a fandom-y type of show at all, and I doubt most people here have heard of it (at least if it's been mentioned I haven't seen it). I'm usually all about the slash, and there's a canon gay character for once, and somehow I ended up shipping him with a woman. I still have no idea how that happened.

Also, I'm kind of obsessed with Eric/Pam from True Blood at the moment, which is weird because in 4 seasons the idea never really even occurred to me, and then it kind of crept up on me in the past few episodes. I don't know why it took me 4 years to see it, plus they're not exactly on the greatest terms at the moment.

Oh, and umm, I feel weird even admitting this one, but Hank and Evan on Royal Pains. Mainly because I feel people probably think the show is really lame, and there's like zero fandom. I don't think I've ever even come across a single other person that watches it on LJ/DW, or anywhere other than one specific site, and everyone there loves Evan/Paige, and even mention of the lead actor having more chemistry with the other guys on the show than his female love interests was enough to cause some people to have homophobic freakouts.

But yeah...I think those are the only ones that really make me go 'wtf'.
