Glad I've stayed out of fandom. I really like her because she's so naïve and "innocent" at the beginning but nothing good and innocent is going to survive long in ASOIF world and I'm really looking forward to seeing what she does to continue to stay alive. But she's not perfect, and she sure as hell had a part in *how* Ned was killed although he was going to end up dead anyway.

Ugh. Stop blaming Sansa for what happened to Ned. Catelyn did more damage by kidnapping Tyrion and Ned was dumb enough himself to trust Littlefinger and going to straight to Cersei to tell him her plans.

Sansa's the LAST person to be blamed for Ned's death. At the very least, she's a child. Catelyn and Ned were dumb enough to trust Littlefinger and they're ADULTS.

IA, mostly, although I think the exact manner of public execution like that she had some role in -- and of course that was mostly Joffrey taking advantage of that. Ned was going to end up dead one way or another, but Sansa was the one who pushed for Ned to publicly "renounce" his "treason." Regardless of intention, she had a role in it playing out in that way.

I like her, no matter what haters or fans say. She's got an interesting plot without supernatural stuff. I want to know more about her in the next books.

If Sansa's fans are like that it's only because she gets so much flack from the rest of the fandom. People stan for Cersei more than her and Cersei is a horrid bitch.

She started out as a dumb kid, but she's learning, and I think she could turn out to be a very interesting character. People need to remember that children don't always make the best decisions and there was really no way she could have understood the ramifications of talking to the Queen.

Hmmm...haven't paid attention to GoT/ASoIaF fandom since giving up on the books about halfway through the third one, and having to cut cable, so not seeing beyond the first couple eps od the second series...what's the 'QUEEN IN THE NORTH!!!' thing?

(Also, I loathed Sansa for the first book, liked her little better in the TV series, though I grew to like her in the second book, when it finally sunk in to her that she wasn't living in a fairy tale.)

bro I know what you mean. Sansa is a good character, NOT a great one yet, because her arc has started but ain't progressing fast enough for me; but a good one. And I get why her fans are defensive, because she gets a lot of hate from the sexist side of the fandom - and others too, but the really douchey section from westeros.org has a BIG hateboner for her (along with Catelyn and Cersei) that often involves people wishing rape and gruesome deaths on her(/them). That really sucks. To be fair, disliking her doesn't automatically make you sexist - she's a very passive character, and they're sometimes hard to love. It's why I want her arc to gain momentum so she can actually make some moves of her own. I also get the whole QUEEN OF THE NORTH thing, because it IS a lovely idea for her to come from being trapped to running shit, that arc is something I would love to see.

But even so? Her superfans can be intensely annoying. Oh my god. I think it was march madness this year that made me want to punch so many of em =/ her character hasn't suffered for me because of it, though. I do still want her to come out of this story strong.

Also, why is she any less a contender for Queen of the North than the other Starks left?

I don't hate her as much as I did in GoT/season one, but I'm still in A Storm of Swords. Like another comment says, it's interesting seeing what she does to survive (and what else she will do). I find that with pretty much every character in ASOIAF there's lots to love and hate.

At first I kind of hated her, then I realized how she was supposed to start out naive and kinda bitchy and then all this horrible stuff started happening to her and her father got beheaded right in front of her and she has to live in a place full of lies and spies pretty much without a single friend or person to trust and wait for the day when she has her period so Joffrey can start raping her ... and all this while she's freaking fourteen years old. Holy shit.
Then I found her fascinating to watch. She's not my favorite character, but I can't hate her anymore. She's still kind of bitchy but I worry about what'll happen to her, how she'll get out of this mess alive.

Sansa is one of my favourite ASOIAF characters, but I do stay away from most of her fans because they really are obnoxious. And I HATE the Queen in the North stuff so much. Let's all wish for Bran's and Rickon's deaths (and Jon's, too, technically, since Robb declared Jon his heir), dear Sansa fans, because that is the only way Sansa could ever have that title. So glad you want her siblings to die just so she can be queen. Fuckheads.

Though seriously, she is one of my favourite characters. I hated her at first because I thought she was never going to get out of the "romantic fairy tale kingdom like in the songs \8D/". Augh.

But that look Sansa's actress, Sophie Turner, gives Joffrey at the end of the first season where you know the girl just no longer gives a fuck, when you know she has a bite just as much as her siblings? Yeah. That's the part where I fell in love and actually decided to read the books. I'm digging the growing out of naivete thing.

I'm not active at all in fandom, so I know nothing about any legions of fangirls. I do know that, like Theon, I found her utterly deplorable character until later in the books. I still can't forgive her for giving exactly ZERO shits about her family in general and especially her sister, but once you get to see a more humbled and... I guess almost "motherly" side of her, she becomes a lot more likable.
