4. Agreed. It's funny how it's like a trendy thing to say or something. And I prefer 'Maroon' myself, album-wise. :) 'Conventioneers' rules me.

10. You think so, eh? I just started watching, so I don't know enough to have formed a definite opinion yet.

17. I must admit, I've only ever had that thought once, for about 3 seconds. But it is a valid thing to ponder. I have some good friends that would wonder to no end what happened to me.

10 - OP

(Anonymous) 2007-08-28 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think he truly loved them all in different ways.

10.

(Anonymous) 2007-08-27 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't love Mel. No one loves Mel. Poor, poor Mel.

8. LOL. *likes Steven*

17. I think about this sometimes too. That's why I have a document on my computer that has my LJ username and password in case anyone who looks through my comp afterward is kind enough to update my lj about it. LOLOLOL. I feel lame.

18. Mmm, Edgeworth. ♥

19. .....Is that from the musical?? :OO

21. =\?

(Anonymous) 2007-08-28 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
19. Yes it is. Oliver! Mr Bumble.

[identity profile] hako-neko.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Plus they're creepy.

17. I think of that a lot, too.

[identity profile] sparklemagpie.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
4 - I actually love 'What A Good Boy' more than any other song they've done. I don't know why, I just do. ♥

17 - I worry about this alot too. Of course, it doesn't help that one of the biggest fandom people in my life is my long distance girlfriend and that I have a big ol list of LJ friends who I'm sure would HATE to hear that I had kicked the bucket - but I worry about who would tell them I was dead if it happened. =/

1. I can see where you're coming from; some of my friends asked me if I wanted to take a Japanese class with them, but part of the reason I declined was because I felt being around them in class would get me slapped with the "crazy otaku fangirl" label since they'll try and drag me into their anime/shipping discussions in class (the latter of which I have no interest in).

Still, I think learning a language for whatever reason is a really good thing! I personally have no other reason (at the moment) to learn it other than to read manga/watch raw anime. I'd love to take a class one of these days, just not around talky otaku friends ^^; I like to make my own impressions on people, and I can't do it accurately in the company of others. (if that makes sense?)

3. I wish I knew who he was! It's not the eyes, but the kickin' coat-and-tie that does it for me! Ahh, I love fancy button up jackets~

6. YEEEEES *_* I would SO watch that. And if not a cartoon, the EBA at least need a sequel! Ouendan got one, so why not everyone's favorite dancing secret agents, too?

8. I'd love to see all the gym leaders expanded on! (Needs moar Roark) And the awesometacular rival character, him too! I wonder if a more story-driven Pokemon game is a possibility? C'mon, inevitable thrid D/P game! You can do it!

Oh yeah, and 2!

[identity profile] missmorrichan.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I never even considered how Masaya was just so nice aaaaall the time. It IS kind of creepy, now that I think about it. I guess he never made much of an impression on me, since you don't get much on his personality (as far as I remember) aside from "token shoujo love interest character".

[identity profile] rilani.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Those things scare me to hell and back.

6. YES. (well, not the smut part.)

17. I've actually thought about that before, but it hasn't really irked me since I don't think I'm going to die any day now.

11. Hideki/Chi forever! I think they're really sweet together, I don't see why people don't get it? He gave up SEX FOR HER! DO YOU REALIZE HOW HARD THAT IS FOR A GUY --->probably a very biased/sexist statement but come on...I'm sure a lot of my guy friends would say the same. XD Anyways Hideki is really a sweetie ~<3

13. *goes to find video*

15. I hate that. I hate that SO MUCH! F'ckin judgmental bastards there would be very few roleplayers without the females...at least in the comms I'm in the majority are females and a good portion play male characters. And I've been having similar problems lately with that crap.

17. You aren't alone ._.

Re:15

[identity profile] blitzbebe.livejournal.com 2007-08-28 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Food for thought: If females didn't play men, who would play the men? We ladies scare alot of the fanboys off. XD

[identity profile] ex-parle.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm all for dollfies. I love them, they're gorgeous. The only problem I have are the people who OWN them and that they think that once they have a dollfie that's 'theirs', they're king/queen shit of everything, snobbish as fuck, and everything else. It's rather sickening. I'm sure not EVERYONE who owns a dollfie is like this but christ, I go to a doll meet here in my city for the first time ever and they all come off as elitist snobs who'd rather do sex poses with their dolls just because they can't get laid or get anything in RL. adgdkgadgadg /rant

Anyways; I see no problem with getting just ONE. I'll end up getting one myself eventually. *shrug* MEH. I'd rather stick with the nice people in my city or wherever else who don't get all obsessive over their expensive Asian Barbie. :'(

Re: 5

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree. I know some owners can be real snobbish, but I also know owners who are some of the coolest/ nicest people you could meet.

I have a friend who collects BJD's - she's a sweet person who really enjoys her hobby, which is something she has picked up mostly out of being lonely and bored (she's living in a foreign country to teach english, has been there a year, and can never make friends outside of one or two people that she works with because she doesn't speak a word of the native language).

I understand the appeal of these beautiful things for her to play with, I understand that dollmeets are the highlight of her month at times.

And she would punch me if she heard me say this - but I think those dolls are a waste of her hard earned money that she could be using to save up to make the move to a better place and job. =/

They're very cute, and her photostories are funny and pretty... but when every post she makes on her LJ is about her dolls because she has no life beyond them it makes me sad for her.

It reminds me of a little old woman I used to know who took a baby doll everywhere with her, using it as a surrogate child so that she wouldn't have to deal with the reality of the misscarriage she had when she was in her thirties.

I wish my friend would try harder to find something to do with her time that ISN'T doll related so that she can get out of her slump - but I never know how to say that to her without sounding like a bad friend. =/

I'm a Ten/Rose shipper, and I still know this. WORD. I hate people assuming i'm like this just because I like that pairing. And I like Martha too!

[identity profile] mistressfishie.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
5. Agreed. I own one, but I don't participate in their communities or anything because of how a lot of those people act.

6. Oh yes! Completely yes!

23. SQUEE!!!
Oh I love you. :)
And... you're not the only one who's had that dream. Well. I didn't dream the 'Roland' part. The first bit I did haha... oh, though I'd totally call my kid Roland now too after him.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ALERT! I'm going to come off as a total bitch in the eyes of a bunch of people who own those toys, I'm sure, but anytime I see someone spending exorbitant amounts of money on clothes for their doll, I cringe a little. Seriously? When real kids are starving on the streets? You know how many shirts for REAL PEOPLE you could buy for that much?

But then, I think that about lots of people with super-expensive hobbies. If I had that kind of money to blow, I'd try to give something back, not buy hundred-dollar designer pants for an overpriced Japanese Barbie.

</obnoxious hobo ranting>

Re: 5

[identity profile] longlongwaytogo.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have any of those dolls, nor do I want one. But I do have other expensive hobbies. I really think the whole 'when real kids are starving on the street' thing is a bit silly. You may not like the dolls. You may find them creepy. But don't tell me you give all your spare money to starving children or to paying off your student loans.

5. Why do people collect things at all? The principle behind it is not any different from building a collection of stamps, or priceless antiques, or original Beatles records, or what have you. Most people have ridiculous, not-at-all useful hobbies they spend way too much money on. Money they may or may not wish they'd spent more wisely later.

Those dolls just have the misfortune of being more than slightly creepy.

13. .... I was introduced to the fandom at large through a Kyoya/Tamaki slash drabblething. Even though slash is nonexistant canonically.. I still owe it to that fic that I got into the manga in the first place. I feel no shame.

18. OH MY GOD. I love these games to death. Before I got them I used to scoff at all the shippers, thinking it was fan delusion...

... and now I see that ... it's like the writers are doing it on purpose. ): all the subtext is THERE. and it's so BLATANT. lasdkjhas I can't help but laugh.

21. Out of curiosity, what did he say it was, then?

(Anonymous) 2007-08-27 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
re5: my opinion won't change just because the hobby does. If you have an expensive hobby that you spend money on that you shouldn't, it will still make me gape in astonishment that you paid HOW MUCH for WHAT?! I just used dolls as an example cause it's fandom related. Oh and also, yes they do have the added trait of being super creepy. ;P

17. It's almost two years since I tried to kill myself. If I'd died that day? Nobody would have known how to tell my online friends and, at the time, that was the only reason I was happy I stayed alive. But seriously, I think I'm going to make a list of my passwords and email them to two people I trust with my life...just in case.

(Anonymous) 2007-08-27 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
In re: 17 --

My father is in the process of preparing his will and one of the things his lawyer told him was that it is vitally important that you have your e-mail and online passwords written down somewhere conspicuous and that you let someone you trust know where they're at! If anything happens to you there can be a huge legal hassle involved with trying to get into your online accounts, and so much trouble can be saved just by writing down your passwords and a few instructions on a notepad and putting it near your computer or in your safe deposit box or wherever.

Personally, I've made sure my best friend knows where to look. If anything happens she'll update my LJ and notify all my online friends. You're never too young to start thinking about these things!

[identity profile] nanakibh.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree SO HARD. In the show, they get to have a little more time to sort of express their character but it isn't hardly enough for people to become serious fans or anything. Which... sucks. I love Falkner and I really had to dig around for information on him.

...But what I especially hate is that Brock and Misty are gym leaders with regular roles in the show. Those screen-hogs.

17: Wow, yeah. I'd wonder who wouldn't think about that IMO. I go double paranoid on occasion cause none of my few IRL friends know my fandom friends beyond what I tell them, and I'm the only one who contacts them.

4. I didn't love ever track on every album, but I love various tracks across all albums. <3 BNL.

5. I dunno, I collect pokemon figurines, so I can't throw stones. Still, I could get a shitload of pokemon stuff for 200-700$!

8. Yeah. I sort of want to pair him up with Flint. Flint was so worried about him, after all, there's that whole thing when your character gets to Sunyshore. But pairings aside, I wish they all had more fleshed-out characters.

10. YES. I thank RTD for remaking the show, that's how I got into it, but he's only making all that stuff even worse.

15. o_O I am right there with you. How stupid.

17. No, you're not. I actually get vaguely worried about people if I don't hear from them for a while.

21. Oh man, that is so hilarious! I'm envious :D

17: A Solution (sort of)

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2007-08-27 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
17. I used to worry about that all the time, especially as I've known of fandomers whose friends found out they died from online
obituaries. Their LJ profiles are still up for the whole world to see.

I actually formed a system for that, where certain friends have Real Life info. Ways to reach those friends are provided here: http://author-by-night.livejournal.com/88319.html#cutid1.
I highly reccomend doing something similar - everyone should.

That said, a lot of people are extra private about online/real life matters, and some don't have any online contacts who know anything beyond their first names (if even), nor real life loved ones who know about their online lives, and/or who would think to tell anyone. I even have friends like that, and yeah, I do worry sometimes. I don't want to find out something's happened from an obituary, or always be left wondering what happened to them (although that's already happened a few times, unfortunately.)
