Yeah, no... I'd rather get called a dumbass for a belief, than be told I'm sinful and gross for being attracted to my own gender. No competition.

I count ONE other person who agrees with you - now I make TWO. All I can think is "lol, but it IS shameful to be a slut"

Are there any centers that offer help with depression in your area?

So...did you give them this ultimatum? Did it work? Did you stay home for the holiday?

Tell me all!! :)

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Nope - that's how and why Expies and Bland Name Products exist. Any resemblance is "coincidental," no matter how obvious the inspiration is. If you ever visit New York, poke around the purse stalls for knockoff Louise Vuitton purses; the logo is altered just enough to legally be considered an homage. This is the same thing.

Re: The Pope Resigned

Yeah, sure enough, sure enough. He wouldn't be as bad as some, that's for sure, and there's not a lot who'd be much better all told.

That said, I do think it's unlikely that he will become Pope - at least at this election, maybe down the road, but I don't think his profile is as yet high enough, and I think it's more likely that a South American or an African gets it again.

Hoenstly life will never be hugely clear. The best you can do is just keep looking and questioning things.

Life and everything is so amazingly complicated, it's never going to be perfectly clear or certain, that's why scientists are always restudying and rechecking everything. there's rarely ever a simple answer. it can be summarised in a simple way, but the details are amazing.

what i'm getting at is it's alright to questions thing, everything! it's when you're 100% certain on how the world works that you shuold be concerned

I think it's more the whole Ariel completely submits to a man and literally changes who she is to please him

I have no problem with filing serial numbers off. You want to take your fic you worked on for hours and hours and turn the original part of your fic into something you can publish? Good for you.

Only for merchandise.

Unless you were very lucky for a very long time, or have a set of truly impressive survival skills that for some reason you can't use to make a living/have fun with in day to day life, I'd imagine said less boring life would also be very short. Depending on the sort of zombie outbreak, you might die, then lose your capacity for boredom and end up chasing screaming people so you could eat their tasty tasty brains, though.

oh wow, I can understand the impulse--funerals are ruinously expensive and I suspect it's very easy for an unscrupulous funeral director to guilt people into buying a lot of stuff nobody needs. But "Discount Funerals" does not inspire confidence. It sounds too much like "Pauper's Grave Burials."

Re: Best "Much Ado About Nothing" adaptations?

[personal profile] sootyowl 2013-02-12 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I love this version of Much Ado About Nothing. I think it's very adorable and sweet. Kenneth Branagh is a really good Shakespearean director. He brings out the best of Shakespeare's play and makes it very accessible to the masses. It's also not set in present time. (I do have to say tho that not all of the play is in this adaption. He does cut parts out, for time, but it's still a great adaption.)

I just have a question and I don't know where else to ask it. What is the correct pronunciation of yaoi? I just know I'm pronouncing it wrong in my head.

But how would people know she's Native American if she doesn't have the Cheekbones to Die For?!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's the OP's house; she doesn't have to keep stuff in it that she doesn't like. Once someone gives you something, it's yours; you can do what you want with it, including dumping it in the trash.

Re: The Pope Resigned

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
the Time magazine article made a rather sinister point about how this may be a smart move on his part to influence things and not be accountable for them. He's made a lot of blunders in his time, but because he's resigning and not, you know, dead, he still has influence over who gets chosen next, and that influence may even extend to this next person's ...reign? period?

kind of like whipping the slate clean for the church but continuing to pull strings.

but don't take me seeriously, that's just the conspiracy theorist in me.

Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-12 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
+1 - you're welcome to try it, OP, but that sort of thing usually just leads to accusations that you're butthurt and/or secretly the person you're trying to defend. It's at best a pointless exercise and you'd be better off using that time and effort being friendly and supportive to Actually Nice Fan instead, especially if she doesn't know about the bashing in the first place.
