Yeah, at least Thomas and O'Brien are meant to be villainous and unsympathetic. She's just so freaking annoying. In the beginning, I felt bad for her, but she really has a tendency to bring things on herself. It seems like she never thinks for herself, and I hate that in a character.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-19 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
My thoughts exactly. I feel like I should feel bad for her sometimes, but she's a tool and an idiot.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-19 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Daisy is the downstairs parallel to Edith. NEVER GONNA BE HAPPY.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-19 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
she is kind of annoying, i'll admit. i probably like thomas more than her, especially after the last few episodes. but i don't know, hate for her is a bit much. she's just really young and kind of stupid.

lol. I like Daisy. She's not too bright, but she's pretty harmless.

My favorite was when Thomas encouraged her to go on strike, so she did. OH DAISY.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-19 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
definitely not one of her brightest moments. then again, there are so many like it to choose from.

I like her too. I guess I just don't mind the pattern of "Poor Daisy. She never wins."

I do like Daisy. I don't even find her stupid. She wants respect, and sometimes she actually gets it. She makes really lousy decisions a lot of the time (and hoo boy was I uncomfortable as hell watching Cook bully her into that "romance" and marriage "for his feeling's sake. Squick.), but I think in the circumstances that she has she's trying to learn to stand up as a strong woman. She's never going to be a "modern" woman exactly, but I really do like the idea of her inheriting the farm and working it (and all of their scenes together are filled with d'awwww).

Pretty much this. She's not my favorite character, but I don't mind her. She's like...perpetually stuck in 'stubborn and naive little kid' mode and for some reason she's the only character I can stand that with.

Me, too! Poor Daisy. I think she'll get smarter and less silly over time - especially if she really does go and take over the farm. I like her!

I don't dislike her either. I can get a bit frustrated with her, though - shouldn't she have learned by now not to trust Thomas?

(Anonymous) 2013-02-19 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that she was supposed to be a bit 'slow' and not just poorly educated. That might explain the sheer stupidity.

It's DownTON not DownTOWN

I have nothing to say about this secret, but when I was scrolling, still looking at the secret above it, and all I saw was "Thomas O'Brien". I flipped out for a second thinking someone had made a secret about Thomas O'Brien. I was a little disappointed that it was a secret about a show I don't even watch.

I like her well enough. She can be a bit mean and dumb sometimes, but she doesn't have a truly malicious bone in her body. She's easily manipulated and naive, which is why I'd like to see more of a coming-of-age arc for her.

It's Downton Abbey. Wait a few episodes.

Seriously, I don't get how the members in my church think DA is all fluffy and sweetness and light. I watch it and think WHAT SHOW ARE THEY WATCHING TELL ME WHAT? The character in the OP had a creepy stalkerish admirer who insisted she marry him on his deathbed, the main couple in the series had a love-hate-love relationship, and THEN HE DIED, the countess had a miscarriage because she slipped on a bar of soap, the aforementioned dead love interest was paralyzed in the war but He Got Better, the family's youngest child DIED IN CHILDBIRTH, the count gambled away both his AND his wife's fortunes on the stock market, and as of the last episode I saw, most of their tenants are going to get the boot, thanks to the Victorian recession. Then there is the middle sister, who fell for an old geezer (TV old, not really old) and was jilted at the altar because she was too young for him, and her current love interest allegedly has a wife in a lunatics' workhouse and knowing this soap opera, that's probably a load of horse puckey and his wife is perfectly sound of mind and he's just stringing her along.

The downstairs staff fear no better (though in the actual house IRL the staff were UPSTAIRS the anachronisms on this show drive me bonkers) the head housekeeper has a breast cancer scare, the cook gets glaucoma but She Gets Better, the countess' personal maid is the one who set up the miscarriage soap, one of the butlers has suddenly gone creepy on the newly hired butler, to the point of assaulting him (but instead of sacking the creeptastic butler, they keep him on --- THE ANACHRONISMS ARE BREEDING) one of the maids got knocked up by a soldier when the house became a hospital during WWI, and she ended up a prostitute, and has had to give up her son (which is the only period bit they got right -- except it gets better and she gets to see her kid) and don't get me started on the alcoholic butler...

TL;DR: The only redeeming value this show has is Maggie Smith. And the house.

Ha! I want to hit her sometimes and I still don't understand the part when she got married to that guy, it was surrealistic. But I don't hate her, she's funny most of the times.

Aw, I think Daisy's pretty nice and I'd like to see her get a happy ending in the long run. But yeah, she can be annoying sometimes. Though, I think she's grown up a little--she got on my nerves the most in the first season.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-19 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Come on, she's like 12! Of course she's dumb and whiny!

I think she's cute. Sometimes dumb things are cute.

I haven't finished season 3, but I remember groaning at the stupid overused cliche of a girl being rude to another because the guy she likes fancies the other girl instead. Like with Daisy and that Albert (? the nephew) and the new kitchen maid. I just saw their first meeting where Daisy was immediately snappy to the new girl just because her crush smiled at her. Ugh. Wrtiers you can do better than that.

Also HOW many years has passed by from season 1 to season 3? She should have grown up at least a little bit by now.

I get frustrated because she's so freaking DUMB, but dumb for the purpose of another pointless plot twist. It's sloppy writing.
