But then, it seems to me that the idea of the Mind Palace kind of goes against the "getting rid of stuff I don't need on my hard drive". Which is amazing given that Mark Gatiss wrote both the episode where Sherlock says THAT and this one.

This is not the worst one, though.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-24 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)Don't get me wrong, I LOVE BBC Sherlock but there are quite a few things that I try to skip over because of the cringe worthiness.
This episode has the most of those moments, including Martin Freeman's hammy "IT'S NOT OKAY!!!" 'outburst', Sherlock's multi-chinned breakdown by the fireplace and the whole detoxing scene at the begging. And let's not forget the CG dog.
Yeah, HOTB is probably my least favorite ep but there are moments in the other episodes too.

But sometimes, it's a little weird.
I do like that they put the text of texts up on the screen, as someone said above - if they shoot an actual phone, it's often *very* hard to really see what's on there.

But I can see why someone would think it's trying too hard.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-25 03:54 am (UTC)(link)And since then I've had trouble with the writers' inability to draw a line between "cold, impersonal intellectual" and "obnoxious douchebag".
I know there are plenty of scenes in which other characters discuss how annoying Sherlock is, but the scene where he shouts "Laterz!" at the Buckingham Palace staff meant that I secretly enjoyed Moriarty tearing him to sheds in the finale.
(I mean seriously, "Laterz"? Somebody knee that man's groin already).
