Sean Bean is pretty damn awesome in this movie. I highly recommend it.

I do the exact same thing, just with random people

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Because people use it to pat themselves on the back for caring about female characters (when the rest of the year they ignore them, bash them,...).

Your point?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
Everything above plus not having to include female characters to the relationship.

Re: Would you date a man shorter then yourself

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm 6ft tall and live in Japan, I don't have a choice when it comes to dating men shorter than me :(

Good news is that I can see over large crowds without needing heels. I always love the reactions I get.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic how sarcastic you're being here, but in case anyone didn't know and is interested: It's pretty easy to omit crossovers from search results on AO3, provided the fics are actually tagged as crossovers. You just put "-crossover" (without the quotation marks) in the search box for "general tags" or whatever that section is called. I do this almost every time I search for fic on AO3 to exclude crossovers as well as incest and ABO.

Re: How Would You Control Your (Hypothetical) Children's Internet Use?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
As a parent I can say it's entirely dependent on the age of the child. You generally want to keep parental filters up at all times, and make sure to monitor their internet access (check the history after they've been on, etc. also make it so they can't erase the history which is a great trick).

Youtube was unfortunately the main site I had to block my kids from seeing, because despite all the great things on there, the moment they looked up fandom stuff they'd end up with videos of things like Sonic brutally murdering Amy and shit like that.

Re: I seriously hate A03

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 08:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god I feel you. Right now I'm not in a small fandom but that fandom gets hijacked by Sherlock fandom quite often. I don't want to read a fusion with Sherlock characters! I'd love if there was a way to not see this fics (like on ff.net where crossovers and fusions are in their own cathegories).

Re: Least favorite season of your favorite shows

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
Supernatural season where Dean kills Jewel Staite's character. Since then I can't identify with his character at all. I don't know if it got better, but it seemed so black and white and fans liked it and I was so grossed out.

Re: Epilogues in fiction

[personal profile] charming_stranger 2013-03-11 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
People give comments like that? o.0 That's ... odd. Why would they expect sex scenes in fic, as if that were the default? (inb4 smartass comments: Yes, I know porn is really really common in fanfic, but those stories tend to be labelled as such.)

The saccharine ones annoy me, but otherwise I don't mind.

Re: Men’s Oppressive Beliefs Predict Their Breast Size Preferences in Women

It is if we're supposed to extrapolate to "men", rather than "white, British men", though, which we seem to be supposed to do, considering the title of the article.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-11 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Is that movie supposed to be SH:3 then? Because he survives the first game he's in.

Re: SA, yes i mad

[personal profile] maverickz3r0 2013-03-11 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
The first thing I did with DLC Micaiah was class change her out of Dark Mage and hey presto she's not wearing that in her combat model anymore. The Tactician/Grandmaster and Sage models suit her much better.

Honestly, I got really irritated at some of the stuff before I played the game but you know what? That was before I played the game. The game itself is fantastic and you don't pay one whit to any of that during it. (With the exception of Tharja, but eh. I don't use her so.)

Researching...doesn't really cover the actual experience. At all.

Anyway. OP of the secret, I feel you. The game's new, so the haters are going to be louder for a while. Best to just weather the storm. I've seen the odd bit of positive/neutral meta on Serene's and Tumblr, so maybe try there.

This.

I like Awakening's plot, but I'm a sucker for plots like that anyway. And honestly, the character dynamics are what's keeping me playing the...probably around a hundred and fifty hours I have logged.

The only complaint I have about the gameplay is 'why is magic so much better than absolutely everything else, especially Dark magic?'

Man, Pair Up was like. The best idea ever.

Yeah! Like, whenever Act 5 started I was like WHAT IS THIS HORSESHIT I WANT MY KIDS BACK and I hadn't acclimated to being able to read their text fluidly yet. I basically only read a few of the trolls' lines. I saw every image and it was fascinating, but I just wanted the Betas back.

After I caught up (It was still really quite early in Act 5 Act 2), I wanted to know what I missed because I really am a lore hound) so I went back and suddenly I could read their text as easily as I could anyone else' text.

I promptly fell in love with a group I hadn't really cared much about (beyond Karkat but I couldn't read any of his memos first go 'round because of his masturbatory hatred). It also prepared me for the arrival of all of the new characters, whom I all love. (Even Cronus thought it took a while).

The Cherubim are endlessly fascinating now.

I find that fascinating, because I'm relatively certain I can pinpoint almost anywhere in California someone's from and I've never left South Carolina. Accents are so interesting!

I've found that the various American accents are just as evenly spread, but have a more general taper into the next on average and are therefore "generalized" because of the relatively massive size of the nation.

Personally, I can differentiate what local county someone is from based on their accent and I can pin someone down to their township in my own county and neighbourhood in my own town. (It is a really pretty small town but its surrounding areas that people define AS being in town are pretty large). Of course, I had a massive need to be a linguist for much of my teenage life and started turning into Henry Higgens...

[personal profile] sagelazarus 2013-03-11 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
The fact of the matter is that people often have a more fluid sexuality when it comes to media and fictional characters than they do in their "practical" sexuality. I'm not saying that it pertains to OP, but it may, and it may be pertinent for them to develop some Real World attractions first before going down that road.

I have had a few female attractions in the media, but I'm never attracted to the actresses. I am a homosexual man. I have Bisexual Character Tendencies. There is, for a lot of people, a disconnect between People and Characters. (Also when I think of the female characters I'm interested in, they're always somehow shifted imperceptibly to be male)

So OP should be true to themself and their feelings but perhaps shouldn't embark down a particularly stressful road without need.

4'11, so it's not exactly likely, but if the guy was someone that I was otherwise interested in, then yes. It would be nice to be the tall one for a change. ;)

As it is, I'm really put off by guys much taller than 6ft. That's about as tall as I can handle.

You can tell people's NEIGHBORHOOD from their accent? Daaang, that's some mad skills there.

I tend to be pretty bad at picking out accents that aren't common in places where I've lived (and even some that are), so I really think it's cool when people can distinguish lots of different accents beyond the broad categories like American/British/French/etc.

...Sorry if this is rude, but I'm curious. If I link you a video of me talking, would you try to guess where I'm from? I mean, I already told you Northern California, but you kind of implied you could recognize stricter categories than that, so I'm just wondering how distinct my accent is. But it's fine if you don't want to, of course.;;
